The Fish Place in other cities:
What a surprise! We learned that this company has been around since the 80s. You can tell that they really care about the quality of the fish, the variety and the conditions of the tank. There is a different theme in almost every tank so if you need some inspiration this is the place. If you like to support local businesses this place is worth the drive.
Best fish store in town! They have a huge selection of fish as well as aquarium accessories, food for my reptiles and every fish and frog that Ive purchased from there has been much healthier than ones Ive gotten from big got stores. Also the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Very large selection of fresh and salt water pets. Really nice set up.Pro.1.They have alot of different options as in what you want and size.2 Layout makes it easy to view fish.Cons.1. Very pricey compared to other shops.2. Staff not as Knowledgeable as others (alot of school kids.)
I drive 2 hours from central texas to come here. Helpful friendly staff. With the largest selection of fish I have ever seen. And if they don have it they will order for you. Very clean and professional environment. They got me a king tiger pelco that I love and did very well.
This place is awesome to check out fish you have and have not seen before they have great verity of salt and fresh water fish. Also lots to look at makes the drive and customer experience very nice. The staff is well knowledgeable and are very friendly. The store is well kept and in a nice location. It can get packed here and there but not too bad. They sell all supplies along with safe filtered water for your tanks that includes fresh and salt. They sell tanks as well big one to simi small tanks.Fish are healthy and are well token care of.You can also donate fish to them that are too big for your tank and they will keep them and also re-home them.I recommend checking this place out specially if you want healthy and different spices of fish.
This is an amazing aquarium store! I highly recommend checking them out. I’m from South Dakota and I took a trip up there with my dad. I bought some live plants and two rabbits snails from there. They did a fantastic job packaging them up and they all survive the two day trip back! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a very good knowledge of setting up and caring for live planted aquariums. And their fish looked absolutely beautiful! They all looked healthy and I didn’t see any dead fish. I only do freshwater tanks but they seem to have good knowledge on saltwater tanks as well!
While the fish look healthy, the cashier guy doesn’t exactly seem happy to be there. Borderline rude even when asked a question. Ended up not buying anything. I’ll stick with Paradise Fish, where they are at least happy to be there, you can tell they actually love fish and always more than willing to help. First and last time at this place.
5 stars for freshwater fish variety, -1 star for prices of other items. Although I enjoyed their variety of freshwater fish and they seemed reasonably priced, I was not impressed with their prices for anything else. Parts, food, maintenance items, preventative care, medicine, and decorative items all over priced. There are at least 3 other local fish shops within 4-8 miles of this shop that have more reasonable prices for all other items. Still very pleased with the selection of freshwater fish though, and how every single fish was in an adequately sized tank! It’s very sad to see fish crammed together, or in too small of a tank, I saw non of that issue here and that was my favorite part! They also didn’t seem to have any plants for sale. That was a bummer. I was pretty excited to see they had a Phantom Green Pleco, but the poor thing was covered with an infection. I haven’t purchased fish from here yet, I will likely attempt to do so in the future solely based on their variety of freshwater tropical species. I also enjoyed the different themed decorations in each tank. They could probably do the place better justice by getting rid of the carpet under the tanks, it’s bunching up and honestly is a trip hazard. Hard floors, maybe concrete floors, with the long non slip utility rubber mats would be more functional, less hazardous, and more aesthetically pleasing. I almost gave 3 stars because of the price and the pleco but with every fish appearing happy and in the right sized tanks... man that’s awesome.
The Fish Place is the only local fish store I buy from in Dallas/Fort Worth because they consistently sell healthy fish. I have purchased a wide array of fish, snails, and plants from The Fish Place and have never had any issues. They also have great customer service and always offer to help you as soon as you walk in the store.
Ive been in the Aquarium hobby for years, and visited every shop in North Texas. The Fish Place is an hour from me and I still make the drive because they have some of the best selection I have ever seen. Their staff are more than helpful, they even keep you on waiting lists for exotics that most fish stores cant order at all. Theyre the best.
My husband and I have gotten quite a bit of our stock from The Fish Place and all of fish have been very good quality. We are very new to fishkeeping and anytime I come in, all of my questions are answered respectfully and kindly. Will absolutely be back for more of our aquarium needs.
I come here pretty regularly when Im in town. This store always has a remarkable variety of freshwater species, lots of oddballs that youd have a hard time finding anywhere else. The live plant selection is also very impressive. The only drawback is the prices. Aquarium keeping is an expensive hobby to be sure, but youre better off finding driftwood, decor, and more common species at other fish and reptile stores, as the prices here can be double or more of what others offer. Sometimes the extra money is worth a rare or healthier fish, but spiderwood is more or less the same no matter where you get it.
Great independent aquarium place. They sell pretty much anything you need, saltwater, freshwater, brackish, ponds. Everything from the setup to the fish. They were temporarily sold out of the black molly my daughter was looking for, but they offered to sell her a couple of molly fry instead for cheap and that made her a happy customer. This place has been around forever it seems, I remember shopping there in the 1990s and they are still going.
I came here after my Betta died and Petco suggested I visit an actual fish shop for something new. First off, its just so fun to walk around and see all the neat fish and aquarium setups. I was approached very quickly and the associate stuck with me throughout my entire visit. Mind you, I have a 5 gallon tank so my entire purchase was not going to be that large and yet she took the time to answer all my questions, showed me all the types that could work and gave me suggestions based on my experience with fish keeping. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I did not feel rushed and I am so pleased with my new fish friends.
I love this fish and aquarium supply store!! The staff are awesome, friendly and knowledgeable!! The owner was so nice and helpful!! Hes very knowledgeable about fish, aquariums and supplies plus his store has a wide variety of aquarium setups and supplies as well as a wide variety of all both freshwater and marine fish, frogs, invertebrates and plants. I was super impressed with The Fish Place and will definitely be doing all my aquarium shopping here from now on! Sorry PetSmart! You aint got nothing on The Fish Place! 😁
I was very impressed but The Fish Place! The owner and his staff were all very knowledgeable and helpful!! We were asked several times by different people if there was anything they could help us with. One gentleman spent quite a bit of time with us answering all of our questions and selling some difference of opinions my boyfriend and I had been having over the proper care and procedures involving our new 75 gallon aquarium. He also showed us some of their very large inventory of fish, both Marine and Tropical fish and invertebrates, love plants and aquarium supplies. This is going to be our new go to fish place for sure! Lol! Although their prices are a little bit higher than thebig box stores, the quality of the fish along with everything else at The Fish Place is superior!!
I love the fish place! The only thing is, I have been one there waiting list for a rope fish since 2018 and I have yet to get a call from them. I know they have had rope fish but every time I go in there all ready gone :( but they are very helpful and I only buy fish from them. I have never gotten a sick fish from the fish place either. I would have given 5 stars but the waiting list put it at four.
Ive been shopping at this store for a while now and I really like it! All the employees that Ive met have been nice and help me out when I need it. The only complaint I have is that almost everything is quite expensive. The prices do change a little bit depending on their cost for the first that shipment it seems. They do have a dollar plant tank which I love! Also, their ghost shrimp are much cheaper than anywhere else that Ive seen them.
The only place for fish and aquaria. Having been here many, many times, they spend as much time helping you whether youre a first time buyer or an enthusiast. Ive always been impressed with how they treat new customers and they really know their stuff. Not just that, but their animals are the healthiest Ive seen in any store, anywhere---and Ive purchased from them for a long time. Their prices will be a little higher on some fish, but you are getting the best stock, and Ive never had a sick fish from them. Their prices on tanks, accessories and foods are comparable to big box stores, though, and youll have a much better selection here anyway.
The store is nice and they have a great selection of fish and plants. The new employees were nice but inexperienced and theystressed out the cardinal tetras i bought when trying to catch and bag them. $40+ worth of fish dead and no guarantees on any fish or invertebrates. If I go back in the future I should trust my gut and refused to take them.
After my original aquatic store was closed for the day I decided I would purchase shrimp with the fish place I bought 9 totaling a little over $100 I asked the young man who assisted me in getting the shrimp how long I should acclimate them and if I should slowly pour water into the bag from my tank his response was “just float them for 12 minutes that’s what we do here and they do fine”.. trusting the associate because this store has great reviews I floated them for 12 minutes then released. After about a minute I noticed 1 shrimp was on his back! I called the store asked if I could maybe do a exchange maybe it was ill before purchasing. They told me the do not do any exchanges/refunds or anything else. I am a stay at home mom and used the last of my money for these shrimp so I was devastated when I further researched and found out the person who helped me gave me wrong information!! I was suppose to drip acclimate them for about 3 hours or more to adjust to my ph level etc which are at a ideal level for the shrimp but I am told the local stores ph and mines has to be pretty spot on for them to not go into shock and die.. I now have 4 dead shrimp and counting! I now wish I would have just waited for my original store to open up the next day instead of rushing to these folks. I will not be going back to this store anymore but will be shopping at fish paradise as usual.
My favorite local fish store!!! :) great selection of plants and fish, freshwater and salt water. Also great price on reo water (but bring your own jug!!) Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and I love there 2 puppies that are always around just watching:) very sweet and friendly place!!
They have earned a customer. Went in to look and ask questions as I’m a newbie. Lori was super helpful and answered every question and taught me so much. Walked out with new shrimp, hermits, and food. She also helped me learn how to test my own water and never once talked over my head.
I visited this place, I was looking 2 buy some African dwarf frogs however I needed some that were bigger, so mine at home wouldnt b tempted 2 eat the small ones. They only had small frogs of the type I wanted so I didnt buy any, they still had great service though I like 2 just come n2 this place & look at all the neat marine life they have its so relaxing & such a great variety of different fish.
Very good selection of fresh and saltwater fish/invertebrates and aquatic plants, but very very very expensive. The staff seems to be at least somewhat knowledgeable, although there are a few employees that are way too rough with the fish. Additionally, they pride themselves so much on the quality of their livestock that they offer no guarantees--which seems like a contradictory statement. If the fish were that good, then offering a guarantee/warranty period should be no big deal, right?I purchased a betta fish and a large black mystery snail here a few weeks ago. They went into an uninhabited, cycled, 10 gallon tank planted thoroughly with ample hiding spots. I acclimated them perfectly according to instructions given by the staff, which coincided with my own fishkeeping knowledge. He ate once a day--betta fish pellets in the morning, only as much as he could eat within about a minute or two so as to not overfeed or pollute the tank.My betta fish died yesterday. Water parameters: pH 7.4, ammonia 0ppm, nitrites 0ppm, nitrates 5ppm, temperature of 78 degrees. There is no reason my betta fish should have died. The only conclusion is that their quality livestock is not as high quality as they want you to think.I lost a very beautiful fish that I had grown quite attached to and have no way of obtaining any of the money back (Petco, the place I got my other betta in my other tank, has a 30-day return policy on their live fish). My snail is doing great so far, but unfortunately, I cant trust anything else from this store. Buyer beware.
Did a tour of DFW fish stores, literally 15 in two days. This one made the top 4 easily.Jerry, owner, and Jeremy, smartest plant guy on Earth, know their stuff.Had hundreds of freshwater tanks with great fish.Best Pleco collection we saw on the tour, bar none. Owner also very willing to order stuff you need.Jeremy talked freshwater plants like a true master. He definitely loves what he does. Really has a heart for setting up aquariums. We will be back.
They have a huge selection of fresh and saltwater fish. The owner and staff are super helpful and very knowledgable, and have always helped me with my same old questions. I live pretty close and find myself here at least 3 times a week, and now have 4 tanks! Ft Worth is lucky to have such an awesome local fish store.
If you are looking for knowledgeable staff this is the place to go. Very friendly and willing to help answer any question you can throw at them. I buy all my RO and Red Sea from them. Was in a bind yesterday with a leak in my current tank. Walked me through options and ended up with getting a new tank. Oldest and longest surviving fish in my reef tank came from here. Wish I lived closer.
Great freshwater selection. Lots of loaches, and employees were very knowledgeable and helpful about what the fish needed. So refreshing to see horsefaced loaches sold in a deep sand bed, and be told they needed pure sand substrate! Lots of live plants, hardscape rocks, and beautiful tanks, too. Also live brine shrimp. Will definitely be back.
Very well kept fish. I would 100% recommend this store to anyone. Everyone who works here is friendly and knowledgeable and is willing to help anyone who is just starting a tank of any kind. Also great with maintenance for your home tanks. Very honest and trustable employees and owner.
Went in specifically to buy a lionfish. We have 40 years worth of experience and a young man decided his professional advice was more advanced than our own knowledge. Apparently they do not want or need to sell fish. So that 3 hr drive was not worth the time or frustration. Will not be returning or recommending.
They sell sick fish and dont offer any help with it. They blamed my water quality (didnt even test it) and discredited my knowledge in the subject. The manager told me to bring the fish in when I could, because I live an hour away, and then turned around and said that she never told me that! The guy in store basically told me I was a liar, to my face! Disgrace to the industry! Youve been warned.
I have been in the fish keeping hobby (water keeping) for 12 years. And lived all across the country I have visited many different fish stores some great some not so great. The Fish Place is my favorite. The people that run this store are extremely knowledgeable for both salt water and fresh. They quarentine thier animals and put the dates on the front of the glass for the customer to see. I have never seen diseased fish at this store. At this point I get all my fish from them exclusively. I cannot reccomend this store enough. It has been a positive experience Everytime I have dealt with them.
We had shopped here once, got some fish. Initially impressed with the store. HOWEVER, after 3 weeks and almost 6 attempts to even get an appt scheduled for our tank maintenance and filter, we are still being fed the same line. Let me get your name and Ill call you back. No one ever calls back and we have talked to the same guy before and NOTHING. 6 calls. 3 weeks. UNACCEPTABLE. I called again today to try and resolve the issue but apparently this store is owner/manager-less... I hate that I have to leave a review like but I know of no other way to get a hold of management...
Do not buy fish here! I bought ten fish here a couple of weeks ago. One came in with a mouth infection that killed him within 36 hours, and despite medications the infection quickly spread and killed the rest of them. I have shrimp, plants and snails bought here that all are doing well in my tank, but I certainly wont buy fish from them again!
Bought a few fish here and about a week later they all had ich and most died. Went to the store to ask about a refund or at least replacements and I was given the go around. They asked me if I cycled my tank, if I quarantined the fish, if I acclimated them, if I tested the water regularly, etc. They tried coming up with every reason in the book to blame it on me but yes, I did all those things. Even though the tanks at their store that I had bought my fish from were now not being sold due to sickness. So clearly your fish are sick in your store. Not my fault. And yet I was never refunded, not even offered store credit. Wish it wasnt the case because I do like the stores selection, but their customer service is non-existent. Plenty of other stores in dfw that wont hesitate to give you a refund, especially when it was clearly their fault the fish were sick in the first place.
I love The Fish Place. They have such a wide selection of fish, it is cool just to walk around and look at all of them. They will also order fish if you ask. All the people that work there are super helpful and friendly. It is by far my favorite place to go for anything aquarium related.
I love this place! All the employees are very knowledgable about tank dynamics and the science behind a healthy tank. Bailey does my tank maintenance and has, without fail, answered all the questions ive asked and provided me with all the information i could ask for. So impressed by the staff at this location
The store has a very nice selection of fish salt water and fresh the tanks are very clean and well put together. The only turn off is the prices. It’s WAY over priced almost double what other local fish stores have to offer so for that reason I didn’t purchase anything.
Awesome LFS. Regarding the few bad reviews you will find for this, you can clearly tell that its not by the most intelligent people in the world...ie, one person crying because the store did not test HER water for her haha...thats your job, not theirs, and you can go to petco and get it done for free if youre lazy. Another saying they have sick fish. These people quarantine all of their new arrivals before they are put in to their community tanks so, again, clearly written by someone who is just upset and trying to discredit the business. The staff is amazing and friendly. They even let us bring my 1 month old puppy in to the store since it was a far drive and we couldnt leave her home alone. THEN, they even watched her for us while we browsed around and asked a ridiculous amount of questions. I didnt even buy anything that day, and they knew I had no plans to do so since my tank was not ready. This place was literally EXACTLY what I was looking for, and I dont mind driving an hour + just to do business with these awesome people.
Update: My husband, who isnt an experienced fish person, thought he could at least stop in and pick up some fish for me as a surprise. First, he was told the specific fish (Golden Ram) he was asking for didnt exist even though I have one swimming around in my tank, I must have the only one in the world 😑 so they sold him an over priced electric blue ram instead. He also asked for Cardinal Tetras and was sold Neon Tetras. They are very similar but I would expect a fish store to know the differnece. Yet again super disappointed.Called ahead to see if they had a specific tank lid size I needed since I live almost an hour away, they told me they had it so I made the drive but when I got the there they didnt have it, they dont even carry the size I needed but instead of telling me this the only thing the girl at the counter kept asking me was if I was sure my measurements were right. Very disappointed. Never going back.
I love love this store my friend recommend me this store. I told everyone that I knew that had fish or getting fish to go thier instead of Petsmart or even Petco even know I still sometimes shop at Petco because its closer. They need a store just like this in Crowley aeara. I also wish that they would update thier website to were you can find stuff and look at prices. I really liked Penny I do believe she helped me with water and plants. They help you out right away and they are always around to help customers. Unlike petsmart or petco. I will continue to shops thier such an awsome place.
Gone to this store multiple times. They are very hit of miss lately the saltwater side seems to be having issues and i noticed that the QT tanks i used to love that they ran are dry... prices are very very sporadic ive gone in on multiple occasions and asked about the same exact coral and gotten wildly different prices from the same person. i feel they base the price on the customer and what they feel they can get out of them. thats the only reason its not a 5 star rating cause the selection used to be fantastic. hopefully they get whatever is going on in the saltwater handled id hate for them to fall to the wayside.
The woman who I originally spoke too seem very nice and polite. But this kid in there who looked no more than 16 told me I couldnt buy more than two fish for a 20 gallon tank and the fish werent much bigger than guppiesWill never return, Ive had fish my whole life and some kid half my age is not going to tell me how many fish I can purchaseWish I could give 0 stars
This place is awesome! No spin on the name, this really is THE fish place to shop at!All of the employess are super helpful, knowledgeable, and (in my opinon most importantly) HONEST.They have an outstanding selection of fish. They have so many tanks of fish they sell out of, its almost overwhelming! Make sure you come in on a day when you have plenty of time, I was in this store for 2 hours, and could have easily spent more time looking at all the tanks a second time and talking with the very personable staff.I have several tanks, a 250 gallon african cichlid tank, a 75 gallon live planted community tank, and a 75 gallon salt water reef tank and they had so much selection it made it dificult to chose what tank of mine to buy for first!I have yet to find another store I can walk into and find 5-10 different types of rare, unique, or exotic fish in one store at one time. Truly remarkable! Even though they have an extensive variety of species, if they dont have what you are looking for, they are more than willing to special you what you want for no extra cost and as a healthy specimen.Lastly, even with having over roughly 150 sale fish tanks and aproximately 7 display tanks and only 3 full time employees (including the new owner), they keep the store immaculate and the fish well cared for. They monitor very closely the health of their fish and refuse to sell any thing short of supreme health. Cannot recommend this place enough and I cannot say enough positive things about this place!
I was haveing a lot of problems with small issues in my take and kept getting fish that where dyeing off, and kept getting bad advice from several other pet stores. Iwent to The Fish Place and was given free advice that kept my existing fish alive. I then started to buy my fish from them and never had another problem. The ower is very frindley and happy to help even if you dont spend a dime in his store. The selection is very good and the fish are very healthy. I would recomind this store to anyone and have. I will only buy from them.
Expensive fish and dry goods. Sold me opened and expired (like almost a year) product. Also sold me an algae eater that infected my tank with ick. Luckily i was able to get rid of it with no loss of livestock. Lectured me for buying a nano tank online, saying i was hurting local stores by not purchasing from them, even though the tank I ordered was $150 less than their overinflated price. I have since set up 2 tanks and looking to set up more. Have friends in the hobby and they all stay away from this store. Try Fish2Morrow or True Percula.
I have been to this fish store many times before, just to look around. Well we went in and started looking at the fish tanks and I suddenly see a huge pitbull come around the corner and started to growl at me. I stood there in fear and as soon as the dog turned away I bolted out the door. Please dont take your pets to work if they are not people friendly! I know how much damage a dogs jaw can do and being traumatized after a certain incident I cant help but fear an aggressive dog, sorry.
They sold Fish to my wife not even knowing the specs of our fish tanks or giving any knowledge on the fish if it were compatible or not, the Eel was way over priced and the owner was rude they have a no return policy and my wife barely made it out the door when I checked what she had gotten and once I found out she got a fish that would not fit or can go with my other fish, I tried to take it back they do not care about customers only money i will not go back to this place ever and will gladly enjoy their competition any day as they have better staff, knowledge and prices.

2021-12-21Ive been looking for a good store to find some specific fish I picked out for my new aquarium. I was more than happy to find they had everything on my list! Very nice staff and you can tell they do right by the fish here. This is now my go to store!

2022-04-14Have been coming here for many years. Jerry does a phenomenal job keeping up the store and his livestock is always high quality.Had individual tanks for the salt fish (no mixing of water with other tanks) as well as a nice newer coral setup.Very expansive freshwater selection, and had lots of dry goods and deals on used setups in the front of the store. Ask and they can order you just about anything you need

2022-03-22I was definitely impressed with my first visit. We had great help from one of the employees, who answered our questions, and gave great recommendations. I was impressed with the size of the freshwater section, as Ive been disappointed with the lack of variety of freshwater fish in other stores. I especially enjoyed the two shop dogs :)

2022-02-03This is a great place to pick up anything related to fresh water equipment and fish. I will refrain from commenting on Salt water since that was not on my radar. They have a great knowledgeable staff. Very good assortment of fish and reasonable water program. I would recommend this place to anyone.

2022-04-28The staff was very helpful. Im very new to the fish world and theyre super helpful with answering all my questions . Theres alot of different information online and it was hard to really find what worked for the type of fight I was looking for. They also sell their fish alot cheaper then the regular pet stores . I was trying to get one at the pet store and it was 50$ and here they sell the same fishy for 19.99 $. One of the men working there have me really good recommendations for how to set up my fish for the best health .

2022-03-31It was my first time coming here and I and had a pleasant experience. I was actually greeted when I walked into the store unlike other stores-and I received the service I needed. They have a huge selection of fresh and salt water fish and two cute and adorable employee pups. I’ll be returning here for sure.

2022-03-17Store was very clean and well organized. Fish selection was great. Employees were knowledgeable and willing to help and make suggestions. May be the best fish store in Ft Worth.
