The Great Outdoors Sub Shop in other cities:
Good sandwich but lady that takes your order is consistently a jerk. As I’m telling her what I want on my sandwich, she interrupts me by saying “just tell me what you DON’T want.”That would take just as much time and effort. There’s about 20 options and toppings to add to a sandwich….I somehow get stuck with her rudeness every time.
Customer service was spectacular. One lady in particular just went out of her way the whole time we were there to introduce us to new things (campfire sauce and fritos, for example). She seemed to really enjoy her work and be passionate about what there is to offer at the Great Outdoors. I wish I had asked her name but if it helps we were there around 6:30PM on 7/9. She was working at the start of the line. As expected, the food was deliscious. Freshest ingredients ever!
Didnt get my order right. They put mayo on my salami, capicola & pepperoni sub -- ruined the sandwich. I used their GrubHub online ordering app and picked up the sandwiches. Definitely did NOT ask for mayo.Good response to my post though. I wont claim the gift card, but Ill give them another try. People make mistakes, but the good businesses try to make it right.
I went to pick up a sandwich that I placed 15 minutes before my arrival. Waited 10 minutes at least to get my order. After 10 minutes I checked with the cashier to see when the order will be ready and he replied that it will be a while. It was only one cold sandwich. Simply meat bread and mayo and 40 minutes into waiting for it, They still hadn’t started working on the order
I had a very frustrating experience today. I have never been to this location and will not be returning. I tried multiple times to state my order clearly at the drive thru, being asked to repeat over and over only to have the woman taking my order apparently forget the speaker was on and make rude remarks about me. Perhaps you need to upgrade your system to be able to hear patrons, and have a lesson in how the buttons work with your staff so that offensive comments can be made in private.
Edited: huge sign out front says curbside pickup. Curbside pickup has not been offered here for two months now due to “we don’t have enough people to run it out to you.” I just thought the owners would want to know that apparently you are very short staffed;or, they don’t want to do curbside.Old review: Great homemade bread and great meats
Excellent ambiance, superior customer service, the roast beef sandwich with the works on wheat bread I had was very good. I had the Cherry Bomb Ice Creme for desert and it was delicious. The people at the sandwich bar were so lively, personable and up beat I felt like I was with family. I will make it a point to go back every time Im in Dallas!
Its easy to overlook this small, local space but after forgetting it was there for years, Im glad that I discovered it again today. One of the best East Coast style subs Ive found in Dallas with fresh rolls and ingredients> Staff was very helpful and prices were great. I cant wait to go back again!
The walk up into the sandwich shop was nauseating, and then to walk in and the food case was so unkept 😔😟😕 I was so excited to go back down memory lane to enjoy those yummy sandwiches, but I was disappointed to even order because everything was so unappealing... please do better and clean so your customers are attractive to the advertised food items on display😔
Food is hot, fresh and fast! I have given this restaurant 5 stars simply for their customer service! The employees are amazing! Management however needs an adjustment. Show a little more appreciation towards your restaurants. I actually felt slightly bad for the employees considering I myself have worked for management who just doesn’t care. Either way I will return simply because the employees are amazing
Ive eaten here a total of 2 times now, and both times the staff was rude to me and acted extremely inconvenienced when I informed them of my gluten allergy. They specifically advertise having gluten free options, which is rare for a sandwich shop. Both times that I requested the gluten free bread they made a big deal about having to use a different table and cutlery to prepare my sandwich. If the service alone wasnt bad enough, their prepackaged gluten free bread is dry, tasteless, and has a chalky texture.Out of their dozen or so meat options, only two are actually gluten free.Between the price, service, and quality of service I would recommend against eating here.
Great BBQ sandwich with super tender meat and mild (not spicy) sauce with purple onions. My husband is a vegetarian and he got the cheese sandwich with the works (all veggies). I tasted it and it was possibly even better than mine. Or different but equally good.We went through the drive-thru and the guy working was super accurate in answering my questions. Overall excellent service and great sandwiches! Id never been there but checked out their website when i got home to see if they had any locations near where we live. (They didnt.)
This is my favorite sandwich shop in town. Its not all chainy like other sub shops and the food is really good. Additionally, it reminds me of my favorite sub shop back on the west coast. Its also a great place to bring friends and enjoy some lunch. Oh, and they also have ice cream.
One of my absolute favorite sub shops in Dallas (well actually, in general as well). Make sure you go on Tuesday for double stamps on your sub-trackercard (and if you dont have one, ask for one). If you need a recommendation, the meatball and the Ruben are both damn good (for their hot subs), and The Invention is one of my favorite cold subs.
The Great Outdoors is a great local sub shop that has a lot of delicious sandwich options at fair prices. Their meat is sliced fresh which gives it a great flavor with a lot of fresh veggies to top the sandwich off. You can have your sandwich toasted or cold and the service is very friendly. If you are looking for a great sub, the option to support local business and friendly faces, you definitely need to give The Great Outdoors a try.
I dont get why I have to get an attitude when I walk in looking for to go orders. Even though we are wearing masks I could tell by the way to the blinking her eyes that she had an attitude trying to talk nice but I know that facial expression something else since we are wearing masks. When I was talking to another employee what she said something kind of smug like. Disappointing😓
Dallas, Greenville Avenue.2 b/c one the older ladies came up.front and saved my husband from the new young morons, what the word produce is and what listening is. I ordered a salad that is directly on the menu. None of them new what it was, that it was on the menu or that it had the works sandwich meat on it. They asked my husband what it was and told him that did not have that on the menu. So I ended with 3pieces of Turkey on shredded lettuce 2 slice tomato and 1.5 pieces cheese. He ordered cherry peppers and they asked if wanted cherry peppers shortly there after. Have you ever met someone so slow that it almost confuses you?! NOTE. Please know your menu before being allowed to work the counter! Do not ask the customer what or how to make what is on your menu and listen!!!Please fix this. Favorite sandwich shop for 20years.
You’d think with everything going on the staff would have the decency to put their masks over their nose. I came to this shop once a week while going into the office but today was horrifying. Customers took off their masks to yell their order to staff who weren’t wearing masks over their nose. Staff wouldn’t correct customers who did such a thing. Will not come back during COVID. If you want to see an great example of what NOT to do and how to be UNSAFE, come here!
This Greenville Ave location of Great Outdoors has become the poster child definition of a restaurant that couldnt care less about its customers. They should fire all the employees and hire people that actually WANT to work there and give a cr*p about customers. I went to the drive-thu, and spent *4 minutes* waiting for them to take the order for the one customer ahead of me, then 5, yes I said *5 more minutes* waiting for them to bother to take my order. And I still had to wait for them to bother to make the sandwich. BTW, the last time I went to Jimmy Johns, I went in, ordered and in less than 2 minutes from entering I had my (much better) sandwich. See ya Great Outdoors, Im gonna take my business to some place that wants my business.
The Great Outdoors Subs has the best fresh squeezed lemonade and my favorite sub is the number 13 with wheat bread toasted, with the works and mayonnaise and sour cream onion chips to go with it. Must put some chips into the sandwich for the crunch factor it tastes delicious.
Their food is amazing. If this review was just for their food, I would give them 5 stars, however, since I am reviewing them entirely, I cant give them the 5 stars because of their customer service. It is HORRIBLE. I have been here several times now and each time they have been rude, impatient and essentially seeming annoyed for even taking my order. If I owned this business, I would take an extra close look at the employees especially the ones who handle the drive thru.
Went in for an ice cream treat and got two sad looking desserts. I got a hot fudge sundae and my wife got a single scoop. My sundae came out with two small scoops, and two tiny shots of fudge. Fudge was not hot. I mean, fudge was barely even present. The whip cream was liquid and just looked pathetic as seen in the picture. Her scoop was served in this side of queso sized container. I couldnt believe the ticket was almost $8. Also, the customer service was terrible. The two older ladies and younger girl really couldnt have cared less about our experience. We wont be back.
The sandwich was awesome. Staff? not so much. The lady didnt bother greeting us she only blurted out its going to have to be to-go cause we close in about ten minutes. She slapped our food together and quickly wrapped it up. Bothered and annoyed, she offered chips or a drink but it sounded more like she was going through the motions rather than actually asking. Mind you, we DID walk in like 12 minutes to close but its a SANDWICH SHOP. It seriously took them all of 3 minutes to make our food, she should have been a little more kind given that she is in the service industry. They CLOSE at 8, not get off at 8. Poor customer service, will not return.
Not sure about how good THIS location is. Got there and kept trying to get someone to acknowledge me in the drive thru...no answer. After 15 mins, then someone finally asks if they could help me (because she was cutting bread and didnt hear the speaker.)The other employee is sitting in the back of the store smoking a cigarette??!!! So, no...I dont need any help anymore. And, its the last time Ill be coming to THIS location!!!

2022-07-23I have been coming to The Great Outdoors for many years and every location has amazing sandwiches. They cut the meat and cheese in front of you, they have delicious shakes, and everyone that works there is very friendly. All locations get busy during lunch time, but it is worth it if youre in the North Dallas/ Plano/ Richardson area.

2020-03-20Out of all the locations this one is definitely my favorite. It’s by far the best shop, both employees and whole atmosphere vibe. Parking can be rough at peak times but everything in the area is the same way so it’s not an issue. They have both a drive through and additional parking in the back so it’s always accessible.

2022-03-19If you want to wait 30 minutes stuck in the drive through to get absolutely no service; over 5 people reversed out of the line because this place has no comprehension on how to run a drive through. Place should be torn down; trash establishment.

2021-10-27Very much in love with this place Ive recently started working in Dallas and they are a block away and Im in love with the place. Great prices huge selection of meats and the quality of the food is its best attribute. Its a small hole in the wall type of place but the food doesnt show it.
