The Great Outdoors Sub Shop in other cities:
If you are looking for a stellar sub sandwich, the way you imagine what a sub should look like and taste like - then this is the place!!!My favorites are:The ClubTunaRoast beef & CheeseMeatballThey are never skimpy on the servings they pile it up and you gotta get “The Works” freshly squeezed Lemonade to wash everything down and can you gotta a great outdoors experience! The staff is awesome and their ice cream is a must too close out the show.Treat yourself to a sub of subs you will NOT be disappointed!
One of the worst subs Ive had in ages. I ordered the Reuben and what I got was a soggy, luke-warm mess. The sauerkraut was just a lump in the middle, not spread along the length of the sandwich. The rye bread was as soft as wonderbread and with about as much flavor. They claim the bread is toasted, and I saw them put it in an oven, but what I got was as untoasted as it would have been coming out of a bag. And the cheese was still largely unmelted. I know Texas doesnt do all that well with sandwiches, but this was extra bad. Ive had better from Subway.
This was my very first job 20 years! The food is great! Its a great company to work for too.I was 17, the customers Wernt so nice back then. I encourage everyone to be nice to young people! They are learning, and they have to start somewhere. Though I havent worked there in 19 years. I still have the memories of mean customers. Just something to think about 🤔!
First time there and certainly my last! Ordered their Great Outdoors sandwich with the Works option and after they prepped it, they put the sandwich in the microwave for about 2 minutes; Completely wrapped sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce, etc. in the microwave. After it was microwaved, they slid the sandwich on the counter for me to grab. The sandwich was not bagged and no napkins. Who microwaves a fully prepared sandwich? It was the most disgusting sandwich Ive ever had. Soggy with hot tomatoes, lettuce and gummy bread. The dressing was running from the sandwich with the consistency of water! Absolutely gross and quite frankly uneatable!
I love this place and have been a loyal customer for probably 20 years. I’m really boring because I always get the same thing but it’s the perfect meal so why change? I don’t know if it’s a good or a bad thing but I don’t even have to order any more, they know what I want! I walk in the door and my sandwich is nearly already finished. Thanks for the great customer service!
First off I ordered 2 sandwiches. Ruben and cheesesteak. Did not care for either. When you order be sure you watch and tell them each and everything you want on the sandwich, I think you will enjoy what you get.If left to build it their way you may not like it. I always try their way first. They use just normal processed meat and cheese but it is fresh out of the package and a good brand, very tasty. If you could afford to stock you own bread, meat and cheese I do not think you could do much better at home. The bread seemed a little tough but I did get Rye, good taste. The Ruben had to much dressing but that again is a personnel thing. The cheesesteak was good but to many ingredients for me, would have been great if I would have given more instructions.Bottom line this place does a good job but as with most sub sandwich shops you need to follow your sub and tell them what you like. The 2 young men working were real nice and ready to serve.
This place is not your average sub shop. Its better than subway, Quiznos, firehouse, which which etc. Sandwiches are top notch and the soups are great as well. You can tell youre eating good quality food unlike subway. The staff at this location is very quick and friendly as well. Go eat here and you wont be disappointed
I like eating here. They have a wide selection of sandwiches and sides and drinks. For desert. they have ice cream. The place is airy and clean. The service is fast, even if there is a line. For those not wanting to eat at a table, you can eat at the bar or outside. I particularly like the BLTs.
I love their sandwiches but this isnt the best location Ive been to. Sometimes the workers are nice but one time I was reprimanded for ordering my veggies in the wrong order. Sorry? Never had this issue at any other locations. Also if youre going to close early maybe you should change your hours so people dont drive out to an a empty store after theyve already checked to make sure theyre open. Both the info online and their hours on the store window said 8:30 but I got there at 8 and all the lights were off.
This has got to be one of the best sub shops in town!It gets an easy 5 stars.... however, itll cost ya! Compared to other sub shop chains, The Great Outdoors is more expensive, but its soooo worth it!This location is well kept and the staff is friendly. The meat is sliced fresh and the shakes are marvelous! 👍
This review I am giving saddens me. I have been eating at The Great Outdoors since they had the one in Dallas off of Northwest Hwy.Today i went to this location and witnessed a customer standing with their face over the glass talking over the veggies. Mind you the sign clearly reads to stand behind the line. He does this with the mask not covering his face! I have a sandwich with no works. I get yoi cannot control every customer that walks in and doesnt comply. But can you just tell them what the rule is. And show them the sign. I mean at least try to act like you care about the other customers that will come in. You lost a longtime customer.
My office has always ordered ahead but they werent answering the phone so I was sent to make the orders in person. I had never been into this location before but of course I was cut off when I was trying to order and rushed through the line by the first guy. When he missed one of the items in my sandwich and had the sandwich sent back to him he rolled his eyes. There wasnt a lunch rush yet so for him to act like I wasted his time was unnecessary. Im avoiding this place at all costs.
Went to eat lunch with my daughter at this location, the manager on duty and the young black haired girl along with the tall guy whos badge said he was a shift lead all 3 gave the worst possible customer service I have ever had at a fast food place and that includes McDonalds!! And to be so rude and bothered that we dare place and order and interrupt there day type attitude...To spend $20 on two sandwiches and get that type of poor service was sad!The only good part of the visit was seeing my daughter!Dont get me wrong, food has always been good! However, next time Ill go to great outdoors we will visit the Montfort/ Beltline have eaten at that location for over 5 years and never had a bad experience.
This was by far the worse experience I have had at a Great Outdoors. Not only did they charge me ingredients to be removed from a sandwich they were slopping the lettuce around and dressing everywhere. The Manager at this location West Mabry was very inconsiderate. **Customer to customer - I would highly consider taking your sandwich cravings to a different Great Outdoors location other than this one on 4043 Trinity Mills #109.
I have been eating at great outdoors since 1978 .The food is still as good as ever but the employees in north dallas and Addison act like they are out on bail. They down right rude and now they have a new register that ask you if you want to leave a tip.REALLY!!! It gives you options starting at 15%. If you want a tip get a job in a full service restaurant or at least learn how to fake common courtesy.
I went to Great out doors today for lunch (1-6-2016) 2pm Ive been there before and never had an issue until today. When I walked in I noticed the register guy carry a bunch of bottle water hugging them in his arms, thought that was weird. Then as I ordered my sandwich the manager made it, then I noticed the register guy coughing and cover his mouth with his hands. Thought ok hes not touching food, then I noticed the register guy dumping a small trash can into a bigger one then I noticed he didnt was his hands. SHOCKED!!!!!!Then I noticed the register guy stocking up the lids straws opening up the ice cream drawler and I never saw him wash his hands. I pointed it out to the manager making my sandwich and the manager gave me this look like really you want him to wash his hands, then looked at the register guy and looked at him like ok this guy really thinks you should wash your hands then he did. The manager then looked at me like I was complaining about something that wasnt important. I told him its flu season. Then he looked away with disgust and made me feel like crap because I pointed I didnt want to get sick. No apologizes or anything from the manager that made me realize he was pissed at me.I sat down to eat my sandwich then I noticed the register guy eating and drinking to the left of the ice cream freezer and didnt was his hands, then I was SHOCKED again when I say couch medicine, couch drops and other stuff for him being sick. I was disgusted and thanked them on the way out to see if they would say sorry, nothing!!!!!!!The reason I am writing this is because how the manager made me feel, and didnt give a crap about sanitation at all. You should be ashamed to have this manager working for and letting people under him not following standard sanitation practices, let alone customer relations.Worst experience I have ever had in my life. VERY DISGUSTED AND SHOOCKED WHAT I see and went through at the 4043 E Trinity Mills Rd # 109, Dallas, TX 75287. Someone has to email about this disgusting VISIT!

2022-07-26This was one of the best sub sandwiches I have ever had. Highly recommend. Got the great outdoors sandwich with no ham or bologna with the works no red onions add mayo and mustard. Got a chip, a drink, and a quarter pickle for less than $15 for fresh sliced deli meat and cheese on a sub roll. Crew fast and friendly. If you go somewhere and they name a dish after the restaurant, thats what youre going to want to get. Cant give enough compliments to how good this sandwich was and how easy it was to get in and out. 5 stars easily.

2022-07-06Today was my first time eating at The Great Outdoors Sub Shop. The sandwich was fresh and delicious. I would return based on the food; however, the shops atmosphere is where it is. You can tell the team loves what they do and enjoy having fun with the customers and their co-workers. I cant wait to return! Thank you to the ladies that brightened my day and made me laugh!

2022-03-23My salad came as a sandwich. Not what I wanted. Pulled off the bread because I didnt want carbs. This is double meat by the way. At least I got that.

2022-09-05I needed a salad today. My go-to place for a chefs salad was closed today. I decided to try GOSS instead because it was convenient...not a good decision. There were three people in the prep area. I was told I could choose any of the ingredients to have my salad prepared. I made the choices and and walked in front of the refrigerated area to see what was available, for future reference. That was also not a good idea. The area was not what I had hoped to see - not the cleanest, with food scraps in the trays holding the hams and turkey breasts. The counter had not been wiped of scraps of food. There was no line and only one couple dining dining in the restaurant. The three men behind the counter didnt seem to be aware of the appearance of the prep area or counter. This an unfortunate review to write because I like to patronize shops near my home. This is not one I will return to.

2019-09-10First time here. Was hoping to order a wrap, but they apparently dont sell them. So I chose a croissant instead, no big deal. But when I saw the small amount meat on the sandwich I asked for extra meat, and thats what you see here in the photos. I ended up paying $12.61 for this little thing and Im still hungry. It didnt taste bad, but it was extremely expensive for this small of a sandwich. Customer service was good and the store was clean. But at this price and size of portions, I wont be back.

2022-08-08I drove up and went to the door the door was locked, it was a few minutes before they closed, but as I walked back to my car , a employee ran back inside once inside he locked the door again, but he was just outside cleaning his windows on his camaro, not one time did he say that we were closed or anything of the sort.

2021-06-26Great place for lunch or a quick bite. I like the croissant choice for sandwiches and they have really good brownies and cookies. Their Ice cream is really good, as well. They use high quality meats and cheeses for their sandwiches. The campfire mayo is really good.. kind of like a smokey southwest sauce.
