The Jalapeno Tree in other cities:
The waitress was really nice. They gave us a lot of salsa and chips and free ice cream. I ordered the Jalisco plate. The vegetables were exceptional along with the cream made of spinach, mushrooms and white cheese on top; however, the chicken was really salty and needed to be more cooked, so I was not able to finish it. Also, the floor was full food crumbs and the restroom was extremely smelly.
Fantastic food, environment, and service! Visited on a vacation trip to Linden, Texas. Got the queso shrimp sauteed and it was delicious. The refried beans are actually really well done and authentic. The soft beef taco wasnt my favorite, but I think thats due to their use of melted orange cheese (I prefer only white). Messy food, so be prepared! Lots of leftovers, unless you want an immediate Mexi-coma! Great waitress named Amber served our table and improved the experience by triple. Beautiful interior and lovely decor outside. It was just so fun and yummy! Would love to go again and again. Next time Im trying the Arnold Schwarzenegger star dinner. ;) Thank you for the wonderful meal, Jalapeño Tree!
I just want to say they we enjoyed our meal and waiter Derrick. He was super prompt and was very busy. He did a very excellent job. He was taking care of many tables and was working his butt off. He kept a very good head and was very professional and polite. You should be very proud to have staff that cares and works hard.J+k
Normally a good place to eat. But tonight they were extremely short handed. We were actually forgotten about and was over an hour getting our food. When the food came you could tell it was thrown together. The restrooms are horrible and probably have not been cleaned in a while. The restaurant itself actually looked dirty tonight. It has to be from short staffing because this restaurant has always been great any other time.
To start with, entree prices looked a bit on the expense side. Chips good, salsa, not so much, so much tomato. I really liked the guacamole dip. When the the food arrived, I realized my price and value concerns were correct. The meat, had no flavor, veggies in short supply, beans unseasoned, and tortillas, didnt seem fresh as advertised previously. Boxes by the door, leave me to believe this is a franchise rendition. Marshall has great eateries, just might want to avoid this particular one. Negative stars to you if possible. And Mr. Manager, the table you skipped, was me, blue plad shirt, at 304, should of stopped by, we could of had a chat.
Very good Tex-Mex restaurant in Marshall, TX. Good variety of food on the menu. Chips and salsa are free and are excellent, you also get a guacamole type dip free. You get ice cream cones for dessert. We went on the weekend and they were very busy. We had about a 15-20 min wait. Wait staff was friendly and accommodating when an order had to be sent back. Overall a great place to eat 🙌
My husband and I stopped for a quick dinner, first time at this location, and I have to say it was our worst experience at a J-Tree. It’s getting 2 stars because it was actually very clean, but we couldn’t comprehend why everything took so long when there were hardly any people there when we sat down. We were seated immediately. Our server came and got our drink and appetizer order, then her trainee brought our drinks and tortillas. We waited about 10-15 minutes for our cup of queso, and reminded the waitress we ordered it. 10 minutes come around, she comes to take our order & says the queso is almost ready. We finally get our queso. The manager runs our food out to us, asks if we need anything, so I tell him a couple things & he leaves. My husband is almost done with his food & I still haven’t started due to the condiments I’m waiting on. We see the manager running around on the other side of the restaurant, condiments forgotten (I know it happens in the food industry, not a big deal). I finally flag down our waitress & ask her for the condiments & tortilla for my husband. 10 minutes later she brings them out, we eat & get ready for our check. After leaving both my husband and I feel sick to our stomachs, even though we had nothing similar to eat, which we both find odd.I know the food industry (and others) are struggling to find help, but there weren’t enough cars in the parking lot to explain what the problem was this evening. They didn’t appear to be short-staffed, yet I felt like all of the staff was running around like crazy to help customers. We watched 2 tables leave after chips and drinks because of slow service. If they were short-staffed with kitchen workers, I understand, but communication is key.
Didnt get set till 10 minutes, but had tables available. After we got set it took 15 minutes for our waitress to come to our table. We ordered unsweetened tea and took her 10 minutes to tell us they were of sweet tea. Then took ten minutes to get unsweetened cause they were making it.sat foranother 15 to get our order. Tea sucked.
I walked in and was told that there was a wait for a table when there were clearly many opened tables. We could have been seated and at least gotten drinks and chips. We were stared at for our entire time we waited and we were finally seated when another family came in, and they had no choice but to seat us. Which they proceeded to do in the dark back corner. When there were other open tables. We were then stared at by staff and not helped. On top of that all staff was either wearing mask under nose or completely under their chin which made me question the cleanliness. We we left they just asked rudely if we were leaving. I will not be back.
After having to request that someone clean the table we were sat down to - it only went down hill. The menus were filthy with food all over them. The chips were stale. My taco was stale. So they brought another taco out and it too was stale. I canceled my entire order. I have watched this location deteriorate drastically over the years. And please don’t blame this on COVID. I am sick of everything being blamed on COVID. Someone need to come in and fire everyone from the manager down and start over. I won’t be back. It’s nasty. It’s gross and the food is no longer worth eating.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. It is better than anything Ive had in San Antonio. Everything tasted so fresh the waiter and waitresses are outstanding. You do not wait long at all even when they are busy for your food. Its hot its good you get so much food for your money. I highly recommend this five stars to thumbs up whatever else. Also you get free ice cream after dinner cant beat that
I used to eat here all the time when I lived in texas and was happy to find out there are 3 near Dallas. The older shorter hispanic lady behind the counter was the sweetest person and made me smile the entire time I was there. Food was just as good as other locations. Fast and friendly. Will come back!
Main dishes are good and reasonably priced. Although polite and helpful, the staff was scattered and disorganized when we were there (even though there were at least 6 servers roaming the dining area). The complimentary chips were soggy with oil - even after getting fresh chips brought to table, they were the same. The mens and womens bathrooms were in serious need of cleaning. Caveat, we were seated around 4:15 in the afternoon on a Sunday, so they might have just been off their normal game being that we were there between normal hours.
Wanted to get dinner here because food is usually good. After entering the building I told the young lady I wanted to place a to go order, she told me to step up to the window and place my order there. No one was at the window I waited and watched as several employees stood around but no one came to help me. After 5 minutes of waiting I left. Going to eat somewhere else. Might be back but doubt it.
Lori is the BOMB! The cook was as awesome, too! Its been a while since weve gotten service like this here and Ive got to put it out there. You guys have stepped it up a notch! Even though you are short staffed and very busy my order was perfectly taken and executed. This was a to go order. The service and food (veggie fajitas w/extra spinach) was on point. This type of result certainly keeps me coming back for more. Thank you!
Food was mostly delicious. Enchiladas with sour cream sauce, beans were fabulous but rice had a few hard kernnels. Extremely small portions for price. The quesidillas were good in taste, but again small portioned and a little dry. Build a burrito, taste was okay, yet missed out on the juicy flow of a burrito. Lemonade was the best.Overall, they were a bit stingy with serving size ratio to price . Most food was good.
Great food. Service was a little slow, but not bad. When we were sitted, we were pointed to the QR code for the menu and asked or you can have paper menus if you want?. We asked for paper menus since had parents with us and she had to go back and get them. I would have had them in my hands just in case to save me a trip. Had asked for a spoon with our meal when ordered and when food came, was missing spoon. Reminded the server and it took him forever to bring us the spoon.
Professional from the start. Employees wore mask and followed the 6 feet apart for the Covid Virus. The food was Exceptional!! It was a very relaxing and enjoyable outing. The best restaurant we have gone to since being in Marshall from evacuation from Hurricane Laura. Highly recommend. Top shelf margaritas on the rocks were very good. Cost was efficient for 5 adults and 1 child.
Staff was very friendly and clearly doing the best that they could. However, the restaurant itself wasnt very clean and we did have a 45 minute wait at 3 pm. which seemed to be due to the fact that the restaurant is extremely understaffed for a Saturday. The food and drinks were mediocre. Again, the staff were great, but the product was underwhelming.
HORRIBLE food and even WORSE service from the waiter. My wife ordered fajita steak AND fajita chicken enchiladas, what was brought out was regular cheese enchiladas. When the waiter was notified of the issue instead of taking the plate and bringing back the correct food item, he went to the kitchen and bright a small plate with fajita steak and fajita chicken... Im sorry but that IS NOT how that problem shouldve been rectified. We will NEVER eat there again!!! EVER!!
We always make it a point to stop here when driving through Marshall. Was slightly disappointed this time. The chips werent very fresh despite a new basket. Fajita chicken over seasoned and very tough. Quesadillas were rather bland. I would still come by again in the future to give a second chance, maybe we just had bad luck that day, but was a little disappointed
We ate here for lunch while passing through Marshall, TX at the suggestion of a friend. Service was attentive and friendly. The staff adhered to appropriate public safety practices (we went during the pandemic). We really enjoyed our food and found it to be delicious and authentic. We will definitely stop in again the next time we are in the area...
It was a good atmosphere, the waitress was new , no problem she tried , food was alright & hot, but for Gods sakes DO NOT ORDER TOP SHELF MARGARITAS ! They do not know how to make them ! All we tasted was Sweet & Sour Mix with no alcohol and they were $11.99 each. We couldve easily spent my $36 elsewhere. We will not go back for sure. - Jalapeño Tree in Marshall , Texas .
Overall the food just didnt taste good. It seemed pricy compared to other Mexican restaurants. But the taste definitely wasnt worth the price. Spicy doesnt bother me... But some of the food was inedible due to the spice. Our server was okay. You would think with as much food with only one bite gone... They would ask. But they never asked how is your meal/food.
Service was super slow but considering they were packed because of the Marshall Christmas lights it makes sense. We had to get up and go ask for a waitress several times. Nonetheless, my food was excellent! The Chile Relleño was delicious! Chips with green and red sauce were perfection. The meal was what we had been hoping for and everything turned out fine in the end.
Wow the food here was amazing. The beef tacos were great and the salsa was just outstanding. I really liked the chips too. They were thin and very crispy. I would go here everytime im in the area. The specialty plates offer a great amount of food and offer a meal that wont disappoint. If you are in the area stop by and check it out, you wont be disappointed.
Although the parking lot was full, we were seated quickly. Our waiter was fairly new but he did an awesome job. The food was served fast & it was delicious. This was my first time ever having a brisket quesadilla & I loved it! I look forward to trying the shrimp tacos next time. Great first experience & highly recommended!
We went during peak hours and had to sit at the bar. The service was a bit sketchy there and the wait was long. They got my wifes order wrong but the quality and taste of the food was amazing. The portions are very big and worth every penny. Other than bringing the wife chicken instead of beef, it was a great experience. Still worthy of 4 stars.
Awesome food! Definitely just matters who you get for service. I like that they hire younger people giving them the opportunity to be independent. But when you hire young people my service wasnt the best. But I definitely seen excellent service being given around me. But food quality was there. Reasonably priced too.
We visit The Jalapeno Tree twice a year when we are in Marshall for a horse show. Typically the food and staff is wonderful. On 25 May 2019 neither food or staff was acceptable. We arrived at approximately 4:30 PM prior to the Saturday evening rush and the restaurant wasnt crowded however it took about minutes to be seated. We were a larger party of 8 and asked for a single table but were seated at two tables. Unfortunately that was the best service of the meal as service declined from there. I cant speak for others meals but I ordered beef fajita enchiladas and received cheese enchiladas with one piece of fajita meat. Im hoping when we visit again next year the food and service is back to normal. The restaurant also seemed dirty which wasnt normal.
Food was not as good as expected, but was still good. Excellent service for the most part. One of our party did not get their food until the rest of us were almost done. Waitress explained the first order wasnt right so it had to be remade. I thought that meal should have been comped.
I love Jalapeno Tree in Longview and in MtPleasant. Good food and good friendly service. I cant say the same for Marshall. Its no bueno. My food was not hot. I had red and green salsa bowls empty before I got my food and drinks my glass sat empty. When I finally got my food I asked for a refill on both but I never saw the waitress again until I was done eating when she finally brought me the check. Also everytime I eat at a Jalapeno Tree a manager visits my table to make sure all is good but not in Marshall. Terrible experience last Sunday in Marshall. 👎👎
Compared to our last visit to this specific Jalapeno Tree, it was a slight improvement. On a previous visit, we had the worst service possible - including having to get up to go get our own refills. However, this time the service was fantastic! The kitchen was sadly pushing out cold soups though. The entrees we had were cooked well, but both soups seemed like they came out of the fridge.
I placed a to go order and it literally took over a hour to receive my food.. I get home and didnt even have the tortillas to go with my meal. I call back and the lady said well I put them in the bag.. So I had to drive back just for the tortillas . When i got there no one asked if I needed help and a lady just gave a rolled up brown sack that was just sitting on the counter... My overall experience was bad.. Plus I had to drive back home to warm up my food...
Great service!! Aaaannnddddd our server / host, Miguel, was AMAZING!! SUPER CHARISMATIC, ATTENTIVE, SWEET, DOWN TO EARTH, PHENOMENAL SERVICE - the list goes on and on - anyways, my mother and I loved him, he was FANTASTIC (told the MOD too) and the food was delicious. Dessert was definitely my favorite. 🤤🤤🤤🤤
We were seated & had our order taken by a hostess since our waitress never came by. It took a very long time for our food to come out, & when it did, one of the orders was wrong. The mistake was corrected and the food was delicious. Hats off to the chefs who made it. When ordered a bottled beer, the bartender was busy talking with another employee & when finally got around to popping the top & serving, food had already been eaten. Fix the waitstaff issues and continue serving great food.
All in all the facility as well as parking is in my mind more than sufficient for pretty much any type of vehicle ranging from a small car to a big pick up truck there’s room for you. As far as the inside, the floors have always appeared clean and maintained with the exception of random chips hitting the ground which happens LOL.The servers for the most part are always on top of it, as far as making sure your food is taken care of and refills with drinks and so forth. The one thing about the servers and A restaurant that we especially like is that they tend to stay pretty consistent as far as a low turnover rate on servers. Therefore you become familiar with the server(s) and they become familiar with you as well so they begin to know what you want which can be helpful at times if you come in with your children as we often do, or in a group and even just myself and my wife.Food consistency has always been spot on as I’ve often made the comment that there’s very few restaurant/establishments that you can go to and the food is consistently good, this is one of them! They have something for everyone so leaving their with an empty stomach is all on you! Lol. They even got a nice bar set up to where you can have a drink and watch games and or whatever else they may have on the television, or what you asked him to put on as well. Even with the Covid issue going on they have maintained the same cleanliness, the same great tasting food with polite servers that always adhere to safety protocols regarding masks and or gloves if so required. So if you’re just passing through or leave a round here, stop on in and enjoy the chips and hot sauce and lots of corn and flour tortillas! Pricing is also right on point compared to various other Establishments that serve similar food, in this case Mexican, Tex-Mex and even a cheeseburger if you so desire.
Everyone seemed to be slow and uninterested. Food was less than good.Womens restroom was filthy. As we exited two members of staff were at the door and never said a word. No thank you for your business. It was lunch time and the place was about 10% full. That tells you something!!
What started this experience off right was a story that needs to be shared! My little boy was looking at the little gum ball machine at the front that has small toys in it. Another local kid around 8-10 came up talking to him my little boy connected with him and the local boy left after a few minutes to return with money to buy a toy. He bought one for himself and one for my son. Told him this was his to play with. To make it even better he came back a little while later and asked my son did he enjoy the toy. We went to our table and saw it was either his birthday as he was opening presents or someone else at the table. Texas you have made an impact on me and my family from teaching your children to be kind and give! A simple act of kindness goes a long way! Stopping here started our 3 day mini vaca off on the right foot and left a life lesson to my little boy that he will always rememberThe food was great as well but the experience as a whole was awesome. The chips, salsa, and dip was fantastic (the whole reason we stopped really). Even though we did not try the ice cream, having the opportunity to have ice cream when you walk in is amazing! We will be back!
Me, my wife and 2 kids had a pretty good time eating here. The server was attentive, polite and professional, as well as the other server we ran into. The gentleman host was very welcoming and sat us at a requested placement without question or concern. (We have a partly disabled 2 year old)The environment was that of people talking and enjoying their food. The shrimp tacos with mango I ordered were surprisingly good. They were not overly seasoned or overly bathed in sauce, so one could actually taste the shrimp. The tacos had a natural citrus flavor and they were pretty good.My wife had the Briskette enchilada and it was absolutely delicious according to her. I thought it was a little on the spicy side, but good nonetheless; so to each their own.We left very happy with our choice for dinner. My wife wants to make it a staple when we travel through in the future.Really gotta ask about the ice cream machine next time!Thank you Jalepeno Tree.
My husband and I were passing through this town around dinner time and looked on google for good restaurants in the area. The Jalepeño Tree came up as one of the best restaurants in town. When we drove up I noticed how nice and clean the building looked. We were seated immediately and greeted with chips, salsa and a green sauce. We both ordered the El Dorado Jack fajitas one chicken, one beef. They were delicious ! The green sauce is really good and the service was great! We had a trainee shadowing our waitress and she was very attentive. Two managers came to our table to make sure we were taken care of! This is a great place for some Tex-Mex! We were very impressed
Had the beef enchiladas with cheese sauce, a beef taco and chicken tortilla soup. The soup was the best I have ever had. It tasted like they added cheese sauce to magnify the flavor. Great call. Loved it. The enchiladas were as expected. The beef taco wasnt as good as I expected. The sweet tea was good. The only real draw back was that service was kind of slow and they werent that busy.
Very bad service. Took 25 minutes to get salsa to go with chips. Food was not prepared correctly. Not very tasteful. Waitress never asked how food was. Manager walked by and asked how food was and I told her it was eh, okish. She said good and walked off. Its hit and miss if the food here is going to be good along with the service.
This place never disappoints. Fresh chips, great salsa. I always say Im going to try something new. But my usual is just so good its hard experiment with something else. The atmosphere and service is great. My kids always want Jalapeño Tree, although I think its the ice cream that reels them in.
Food was great, service was terrible. Had to wait close to an hour in my car in the heat. Took the server 15 minutes to even come by our table or acknowledge us even though she walked by multiple times tending to other tables. She took about 10 minutes to get anything. Then, she apparently forgot to place my toddlers order (which I placed in advance before my food) so when my food finally came out an hour later, my toddler STILL had nothing to eat. She literally choked on chips our entire visit bc she didn’t have any food. Server got defensive with me. She was a really weird individual all together. Who approaches someone from behind the shoulder to introduce themselves/take an order? & she kept blaming her poor server skills on “the 25% capacity thing” ...I’d hate to see you here at 100% capacity if this is your performance at 1/4 smh
Oh my! I think this place was great. My buddy and I each had a shrimp and fish taco. The heat on the queso and salsa was just right. Tortilla soup was excellent and the chicken in it was melt in your mouth. Sauteed squash and zucchini was slide down your throat good. The ice cream on the way out was a fun treat. I would go back often if it was a local place for me, but I dont live near one...yet.
My wife and I are from Ft Worth, and had never been to Jalapeño Tree. We visited Marshall for the weekend, and decided to give it a try. We have no complaints. The food was good and hot. Everything tasted great, and our waitress April was very attentive and a sweet lady who said she loved her job. You do not find that often. We will be back every time we get back to Marshall.
Rude manager sitting at the bar with an unfriendly look on his face throughout our entire meal. Server was BEYOND slow. Like no joke we got our drinks (sodas) pretty much at the same time as our food. Food was less than good. Super disappointed. Paid $15 for a greasy quesadilla.
We were hungry for a dining experience! Not drive by or take out. So we had no option but to visit Marshall,Texas. I had heard some wonderful things about the Jalapeno Tree. It lived up to its reputation and then some. We were met at the door by a masked Hostess that took our phone number and asked us to remain in our vehicle until called. It was a short wait. The place is super cute and decorated in vivid colors. We were led to a table already set with paper menus very colorful and easy to interpret. At our table were 2 large bowls of crispy warm chips. There were a bowl of mild salsa (yay) and a creamy cheese and lime dip. My daughter ordered a big bowl of quesofor the table. It came with freshly sliced pieces of Jalapeno. I thought oh no! So I took a very tentative bite. It was really good, but I did avoid the jalapenos. My oldest daughter ordered queasdas. She had tried them before and said they were awesome so my younger daughter tried them also. Rave reports from both of them! My picky granddaughter hadfound Mexican food Heaven! Build your own meal! The options were endless andfor the first time of many restaurant meals, she ate it all! My other Granddaughter, Mexican food specialistordered beans and rice , queso and crispy tacos. Which she made short work of. Well,I was busy surveying the many offerings while my companions finished a bowl of chips! Our waiter,Ralph, was helpful and had a wonderful presence. I ordered one of their speciality plates. The Tex Ritter! It came with beans and rice or a bowl of creamy chicken taco soup for a dollar. So I used that as my side and saved five dollars and he brought rice and beans for me to try. They had several specialty plates The Elvis, the John Wayne, the Clint Eastwood. Each offered different combinations of Mexican faire. The Elvis was larger portions! LOL. The Tex Ritter came with a cheese enchilada, a beef enchilada, and a chicken enchilada. And a beef tamale. With guacamole. The enchiladas themselves were light in texture and filled with a nice portion of filling. My only tiny suggestion. The chili sauce on the beef and cheese enchiladaswas tasty but had big pieces of ground meat in it. I didnt care for it because to me it made the sauce thinner, but large not gigantic pieces of ground beef. The sour cream sauce was heavenly just the right consistancy. As I said the portions were generous. So my husband and Ihad supper from my leftovers. This was a pleasant unhurried meal. Be sure and ask for Ralph. He was really worth the tip I left. You must try their sweet tea, perfection! The service at times slowed a bit, but there were only two wait staff to cover the whole restaurant. I want to try their desserts next time. TheirSoapapillas looked delicious, they also offered a brownie with strawberries or chocolate sauce, and another offering all looked fantastic! I am not a big Mexican food person, but this place could easilybecome a favorite to go place. It is downI-20 to US 59 take a right and it is one block up on the right! Wonderful place.Easily 5 stars!
3 hostesses at the door and no one volunteered to seat us, they all stared at each other debating who was going to have to do work. I counted 9 waiters, 3 table bussers. Most standing around talking. 10 minutes before we got a waitress to get our drink order. 45 minute wait for food. Then after asking 2 people for ketchup for my kid I finally had to get up and go ask a group of 5 staff if someone had any spare time to do their job. $70 meal was not worth the hour we spent. We will not be going back. Extremely poor customer service.
We walk In ask for a booth and we walk by 4 booths and were seated in the far corner booth in the bartender service section. The bartender came over took our drink order and we waited 15 minutes for chips and salsa. Our patron margaritas arrived and they great. We ordered combo nachos and we were enjoying our drinks and chips and salsa....20 mins of waiting for our nachos I went to take a sip of my margarita and the bottom of the glass made a loud pop sound and was in my lap with 3/4s of my margarita. The bartender came over and offered me a wet dirty bar rag to wipe myself off. I went to the mens room to get some dry paper towels....and the dispenser was empty. I left the bathroom went back to my booth when the manager was there offering me another wet dirty bar towel to dry off with. Not the best experience, its too bad because my wife and I enjoyed the Salsa and the Margarita.
Good average Mexican restaurant. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but the food was good and service was friendly and courteous. The menu had all the usual favorites, as well as some slightly more unique options, if ordering the obligatory enchiladas for the hundredth time doesnt sound like the thing to do. Over all, was quite happy with this restaurant.
Bad service , the food was cold and tasted bad , overcharged us we ordered the dinner but received the lunch but was charged for dinner anyway. Later on that night I started throwing up and had diarrhea for the next 2 days. Obviously something I ate there was bad and that was the only thing I have eaten that day was at the jalapeno tree. I would not recommend this place to no one at unless you want to get bad service overcharged and sick
At the Marshall TX location there was no one at the bar to take the togo order we had, all the hostesses were standing around in the front talking to each other and none of them asked if we needed help but make constant eye contact with us. Theres a line of people at the door and no one is being seated, another person has a togo order and no one has went over the order with him. The girl that actually took our order I would give her 5 stars
The service was terrible and it wasnt that packed. They charged my mom $2.99 for a bowl of queso, when all she ordered was queso on her rice and enchilada, when she asked about it she said there was nothing she could do. The waitress was rude and got aggravated because we would ask for refills or things we should have already had.
My partner and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday while heading out of state. The place wasnt busy yet and the service was swift and friendly. My partner enjoyed the green (avocado?) salsa, but it was too creamy for my taste whereas he thought the red salsa was too sweet and I thought it was a normal, decent red salsa if not as chunky as I prefer. We ordered the Jack Nicholson and the Elvis Presley, and it took longer to come out than we expected for the amount of people there and considering it was lunch time. My partner said that the Elvis was bland and he didnt particularly enjoy it. The Jack seemed to have sat for a few minutes bc it looked dry and was not hot. It was jucier than I expected, though, and flavorful. Our waitress was friendly and attentive with just one forgotten request: tortillas for the Elvis. She was accommodating throughout, and we appreciated her service.Overall, the food was just ok, and we felt it was overpriced. We can get much better quality for cheaper in Houston, Baton Rouge, or NOLA. Even the lunch prices werent that good of a deal.I wouldnt stop here again if I were passing through.
Wow, what a gem we found during our trip! This place was awesome. When we pulled in my teenage son was hesitant and I assured him that if the salsa wasnt good we would just leave 😂 But he loved everything here! The salsa, green sauce, queso, steak, chicken, beans, and rice. Every time he took a bite, he said, mmmmmm He ordered the Jack Nicholson and I ordered the Clint Eastwood I think. My steak was super fatty so I couldnt eat it but the rest of the food was great. Honestly it was so good that I couldnt even deduct a star because of the fatty steak. Our server was really sweet and explained to us at the start that she reads lips because she doesnt hear very well. She was even concerned about us since it was a sad trip we were taking. The place looked really cool, nicely decorated! We will definitely be back!
All the years in Marshall I had only been here once , so me and family decided to go ONLY because don juans was closed . When we got our food, not only was it cold but it was bland , my husband ordered the carna asada and his meat looked and tasted as if it was old . We paid over $60 for me him and my 3 kids , and was very disappointed, waitress was very sweet and apologetic but needless to say we will not be back.
It was not pleasant at all. We waited on the manager to take 5 mins to figure out where to seat us. Then we waited 20-30 mins waiting on someone to notice us. They never did so we had to ask someone. While we waited there were six employees right beside us at the front two were rolling silverware and the rest were leaning on the counter chilling. We finally got our drinks then we finally saw our assigned waitress to take our order. The rest of our visit we only saw her twice. Someone else brought our food out. My husband asked about his tortillas and she said our server will bring them. Five mins went by then we see our waitress go to the lounge area for waiting to be seated customers and was socializing while my husband waited on his tortillas. The manager came around about that time and we expressed our unhappy feelings and she said I am sorry. We requested tortillas again and five mins later someone else brought them to us. We will never return to this establishment again.
I have always loved the food at the Marshall location. Most times we passed through, I have to eat there. We came through today, April 20, 2019. We called in an order, Juan Carlos. When we picked it up, the order wasnt correct. We took it back in and they added rice to it and it still wasnt right. Dont know if I will feel the same way when we pass through again. ☹
The 1st time I ate here it was bad food and service.I think everyone deserves a second chance so I ate here again today (3-3-19) and it was more of the same. My food was cold and my wife ordered cassideas which were burnt. It took over 30 minutes to get our orders and we were there when they first opened. Tea glasses were never filled, I had to do it my self. I WILL NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE AGAIN!I’ll stay at Don Juan’s. I would give a zero star if this were an option!
We had to get take out due to the pandemic and was a little disappointed that when I got home I found that we did not get our sour cream and guacamole to go with the 4 fajita meals we bought. It was a good thing I had added on an order of guacamole and we had some sour cream in the fridge. I had also asked to make sure there was plenty of grilled veggies but there was one piece of red and one piece of green pepper and a few onions. We paid $80 plus gave a $5 tip for bringing out to my car. I dont think we will go back to this one in Marshall, Tx. The one in Henderson is better.
This place was a great stop on a long drive home. Delicious green sauce similar to Gringos. I shared the chicken fajitas with a friend, which was served with a ramiken of fresh garlic butter. Yum! Our server was very friendly and attentive. A manager visited our table to ensure we were happy. The Bloody Maria was not my favorite. Very black peppery. If I pass through Marshall again, I will definitely visit and have a Margarita instead.
We were told it would be a 30 minute wait, but that turned into an hour wait for 2 seperate tables for my birthday dinner. That was the best they could do for an hour wait. If we were told up front a better estimate on wait time we wouldve just found another restaurant to go to since we came over an hour away and were trying to go to wonderland of lights.
I hate leaving anything but positive feedback but after our visit this past Friday night I feel like I have to leave some criticism.we had family visiting from out of town & they wanted to try Jalapeno Tree. we filled up a table for 15 but instead of having a server handle our large party, the poor girl that attempted to wait on all of us also had several other tables on the other side of the restaurant.needless to say most drinks, chip refills or any other needs had to be asked for.it felt like very poor management of our servers time.they were not understaffed either as I counted at least 5 other servers.the food was ok.the strong smell of gasoline was a turnoff and a couple people from our party got a headache because of it.The part that really bothered us is multiple people from our party ordered margaritas.after two margaritas on an empty stomach, after not having an alcoholic drink in a couple months, I couldnt even tell I drank any alcohol.everyone who ordered one felt the same, like we spent $6 each on a glass of sweet and sour mix & were completely ripped off.All in all, between the poor management of the servers and the false margaritas,we wont be going back.i really feel bad for the server.she was very personable & could have done great if she wouldnt have been spread so thin, which is why I am blaming management & not her.if you do go & want a drink, make them mix it in front of you
We crossed the border for our first TexMex treat since the Pandemic, and we are glad we did. Louisiana was still mostly closed up except for togo orders, so we opted to take a trip for a special treat. Despite the situation, the staff was friendly, and they were doing the best they could. The drinks were great, and the food was perfect at just the right price.**Be prepared for a long wait during COVID prevention times***
We went when it wasnt busy but my food was cold , really cold , since I dont ever send back anymore( Im afraid what somebody may do )so I just took it home and microwaved, it not too good that way very disappointing nobodys food was good , and the waitress just never would come back to help us with anything ,like bringing more chips and when she did bring them they really all broken up for some reason! She was very nice though I think she was just busy doing something. The best thing that I had jalapeno tree that night was the ice cream on the way out its not always like that though I know that for a fact!!! Sometimes the jalapeno tree has excellent food and everything else
The host greeted us very nicely but it went downhill from there. We decided to go eat lunch after our sons soccer game and after being seated, it took over 20 mins to get 2 beers. Our entrees took over 35 mins. The food was very good however after drinking our one and only beers, we ordered a 2nd round, after 10 mins of waiting the bar attendant came to our table to let us know that the draft beer we requested was out and she could fill our glasses with what was left in the keg and fill the rest out of a bottle. We said no thanks and I ordered a coke. I get my coke and 5 mins later the waitress whom we havent seen in over 20 mins comes with my beer and said it had already been opened and charged us for it. I would understand if it was during a busy time however we went at 3pm in the afternoon and there was not very many people there.
One of my favorite Mexican food places that I eat. The food here is outstanding! No wonder their slogan is crazy good Mexican food! The salsa and chips, the green sauce, and Fajitas are my favorite. I have eaten at several different Jalapeno Trees throughout east Texas and they are all crazy good! The servers are always friendly, and the management usually comes around making sure you are happy. Great place for a date night. They have a Cantina, and FREE Ice cream on the way out for dessert.
The restaurant was extremely busy and yet the wait staff was able to continually check to see if we needed refills. They are very attentive. The food is excellent the Queso Flameado hot when it arrived. The bartender delivered the drinks promptly on an extremely busy night.
Wish I could post 0 stars!!!!!Came in with my boyfriend after a 12 hour shift for a nice dinner.First we were served sauces without chips. Later we were served drinks without any ice. After being served burnt chips twice and a 45 minute wait the food arrives. I take my very first bite and theres a bone in my enchiladas. The second bite yet ANOTHER bone. When notifying the manager he takes my plate and comps my meal . My boyfriend is left with his plate while Im offered NOTHING in return. Well. My boyfriend isnt comfortable eating while I have nothing and is hesitant about trying his chicken enchiladas. We once again have the manager actually take his plate and offer him NOTHING in return. We sit there looking at each other and are asked well folks do you need any refills ??? Refills???? So we left without any dinner . We had drinks without ice and burnt chips. Absolutely the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE !!!!!
The last 3x weve been here the chicken ixtapa tasted like it was gassed. Seriously tasted like the gas stove. I ordered sauteed key west vegetables and Hubby ordered steamed zucchini/squash. It came out and his zucchini was sauteed and my key west was steamed. The waitress never came back to refill our drinks and just told us to switch our vegetables (completely different veg orders but ok). Anyways needless to say Ive got disappointed for the last time. We wont be back. $40.00 lesson learned.
We were just traveling through and were in the mood for Mexican. We used the food near me search option and this place popped up. The food was phenomenal! There were 4 in our party and everyone got something different but everyone was well pleased. The fajita meat was said to be their specialty and it did not disappoint. The garlic sauce was especially good. The papa bear queso left a bit to be desired in comparison with other quesos, but only mildly so. The green salsa is in a class by itself. The service was excellent as well but not overbearing. The price is about higher than a typical Mexican place but you get a bang for your buck. When we travel back through Texas this will be in our must visit list.
After three attempts, still greasy nachos! Really how difficult is it to drain the grease from the meat?Ive given this restaurant 3 trys to make beef nachos that were crispy and enjoyable, no luck. When I brought it to the managers attention last time he was very defensive and aggressive. I didnt even bother with him this time, just sharing my experience. They are not worth $11. Lastly the sweet tea is not sweetened with sugar either, so it leaves an after taste in your mouth.
I know how Mexican food should taste like and this is a perfect example of what it shouldnt taste like. Once we sat down at our table we waited quite a while to get our drinks, the waiter even passed us a multiple times. I ordered the beef enchiladas and they were pretty much meet wrapped with a corn tortilla with nacho cheese on top, not at all what I had expected it to look or taste. We also ordered fajitas and they were just plain bland. Beans and rice were dry with no taste. This restaurant is mostly for people who have never tasted authentic Mexican food.
My mother took me out for my birthday yesterday at Marshalls Jalapeno Tree. It took over an hour to get our two plates of food. The manager was aware of this. When we finally got our food the entrees were spicy even though there was nothing on the menu stating that. I like spicy foods so I didnt mind but my Mom cant eat spicy foods it makes her sick. When she asked the manager about and explained yhat spicy foods make her sick he told her its the butter mix they use for grilling the steak and next time let them know when ordering so they know not to use that mixture. Good to know but what about the whole plate that was in front of her that was to spicy for her to eat?? Apparently, that didnt matter because never once did the manager offer to fix her a new dish without the spice. Considering how long it took just to get our food and then being told next time let us know but this time your just out of luck their rating should be a negative star. Such a bad experience for a celebratory day. Such a bad experience for any day.
The food Was pretty terrible. I ordered a Chile relleno and it tasted like it was fried in a chicken fried steak batter. Im from Houston so Im used to legit authentic Mexican food. Part of it was burned and the beans and rice were poorly cooked. The rice was dry and the beans tasted canned. The green salsa was not authentic at all..tasted like store bought green hot sauce mixed with plain yogurt. However the staff was extremely friendly and the service was good.
The food was good. The service was pretty bad. I ordered a steak and our waitress told us that there was only 3 knifes in the whole restaurant and she didnt know where they were. I asked her to go look. She came back with no knife. She never asked us if we needed anything. It just wasnt the best experience.
This place has lot of potential, I am actually sitting at the bar, Sunday night, bartender is clueless, had to be bailed out by managers with is good on their part, she is bad, start badmouthing them after they left to customers, bar area is dirty, disorganized, just mess, the employee has no name tag, dirty uniform, touching fruit and handing it over with dirty hands, just nasty.Hopefully food will b good.I am food and beverage director at Disny, orlando fl, I m here on business trip, but so far bad,,, find new bartender ,,ASAP...
Seven of us ate here to finish up our business discussions (2 of them were locals). It took forever to get our drinks and chips (about 10 - 12 minutes). Asking the server, where is our chips & salsa, her response was, the chip person was behind. Ummm, you are the server, simply being 2 baskets of chips. The kitchen continued to be slow, probably took 30 minutes. On the other hand, the food was tasty, I enjoyed the Brisket Quesadillas.
Jalapeño tree used to be one of the best spots in town but with the new management the restaurant has surely hit one of its lowest points. The only thing good there is the green sauce and that is it. Everything is low quality, managers are unprofessional, and the service is very poor. I tried contacting management personally and they do not seem to care about complaints. The nachos have gone from being stacked and loaded to just 12 chips per order. Like when an order of fajitas nachos is purchased you are paying more than $1 per chip with very minimum amount of ingredients. It is not worth it and unfortunately I will not be returning to jalapeño tree.
Did not like the new recipe brisket tacos at all. Waaaaayyyyy tooooo hot. They brought tortilla soup to replace it but I think they changed that recipe too. Didnt like that either. As usual though, great service and everyone else loved their food. Still loyal customers.
I love Jalapeno Tree but this one definitely isnt the best of them. I would actually give the Longview Jalapeno Tree 5 stars as one of my favorite places to eat. Here, the chips are always lower quality and the service has been a bit slow. Still not bad overall, just not the best.
Went in this place to get some green sauce. Approached the bar to place my to go order and the bartender told me someone else would help me. I approached that lady and she told me to go back to the bar. Like seriously? Someone take my order and stop giving me to run around. So they argued over who would take my order while I left. I wont go back.

2022-02-06The food was good and the waitress friendly.I do feel like they can provide knives aswell - they only provide forks and you need to ask for knives. This was my second time going there and the restroom was just as bad as the first time. Whatever you do, make sure you dont need to use the restroom. The trash cans were overflowing with used toilet paper & the toilet seats were full of urine. No thanks. I pray that the kitchen looks better than the restrooms.Overall, it really doesnt feel very clean in the restaurant.

2022-03-20They used the same green salsa on the green chile enchiladas. They also did not carry horchata. Food is okay … just ok. Nothing special at all. If you’re Mexican and you’re used to authentic / good tasting mexican food, look elsewhere.

2022-05-23The restaurant is very similar to Chuys, but the food tastes a little better. Its not good enough for me to ever come back. Prices are above average. I have two stars because our server, Chloe, gave excellent service.

2022-05-01Did not care for the food at this particular location. Limited work staff meant an hours wait for our food. We had an awesome waiter who kept bringing refills in drinks and chips. Of course we were full from that by the time the food arrived. Thank goodness it wasnt rush hour.

2020-12-28Awesome food and excellent service. They provide two salsas...both are great. Most people dont think of a Mexican restaurant when looking for healthy; I had a super tasty grilled salmon with grilled veggies.Cant wait for my next visit. Finally, they are using excellent safeguards to protect diners from Covid-19 exposure.

2021-08-03So I go to the Jalapeno Tree in Marshall, TX for lunch. I order Nachos thinking the Jalapeños would be on the side. I thought to myself when they came with Jalapeños on the nachos that I would have to by two orders but the server told me no problem that they would make a fresh plate. How awesome was that. I was impressed with this Jalapeño Tree right up until she brought out the fresh plate without Jalapeños. This is literally how she set it down in front of me, with a smile no less. What do yall think? ( my server did not bring me the food, another woman did. By the way, my servers name was Kari Ann and she was awesome!) Against my better judgment I ate them. Not the best tasting because I could taste the Jalapeno juice left on one. I think they took the ones that had the Jalapeños on them off the plate. I hate being taken for a fool. ((UPDATE!! After speaking with Tony I have changed my rating. I left the review but changed rating due to the conversation with Tony. What happened didnt change but the response from Jalapeño Tree was prompt and courteous. I do believe what happened will not be repeated. Thank you Tony, see you soon sir!))

2022-05-12When you walk up to a restaurant and they have signs out stating that they will not be open on Tuesdays because they cant get anyone to work there, you are not going to be pleased.2pm. Got seated, order taken. Chips and hot sauce broout. Hot sauce tastes just like tomato soup from a can, no hot to it, just tomato taste. Wife ordered a taco soup, which is an appetizer. Does not get it till meal is brought out.Only 6 (including us) people in whole restaurant and it still takes over a hour to get meal on table. I told the waitress it was a good thing they wasnt busy. Mentioned to her that the service had gone downhill to which she agreed. My meal was ok, especially if you like warm instant tea. Wifes meal was terrible. Taco soup was full of liquid cheese, beef tacos had yesterdays meat in them as in dry and hard like a heat lamp does meat. She said the soup had a sour smell to it also.It has been awhile since we last visited this Jalapeño location and I will state for the record, it will be our last.

2020-10-21It started off as a family adventure with my Grandma and Grandpa on my moms side and me and my oldest we would go eat and then on the way out get the free ice cream and my son always wanted to play the machines and try to win a ball or animal and then we would go back home to Shreveport well my papaw passed away and we decided since he loved that place we would keep going so I Drive my Grandma every so often its just me, her and my two boys its still fun but not the same. The food is awesome and we love going there they are friendly and we have never had a problem with them. Her birthday is coming up soon in November and we are going to go for her she will be 80 years old!!

2022-06-01Friendly service, large portions and most importantly good food. Vegetarian quails were some of the best Ive ever had - STUFFED with spinach, fresh sautéed mushrooms and Squash.
