I was 14 years old and I was charged for a minor offense, needless to say I was given a 40 hour community service at the Salvation Army. Now, I am about 26 years older I think that need to talk about volunteering for a little bit. Just pay it back and then I will be feeling better by the way I am positive, & helping out with the community.
I stayed there when I was homeless and I was told they have bed bugs, I only stayed 1night and decided to just stay in my car. I dont like the way they want you off the premises right after breakfast especially for single parents that have to carry all there things including the children thats so wrong when people have no where to go. It wouldnt hurt them to let them stay or at least be able to leave there things there especially when they are coming back. And the staff can be very rude.
This place is disgusting. My husbands parents got a bed from this place and the bed had bed bugs. Now they have to spend a ton of money to get rid of them. Really is this how you treat people after a house fire!? Seriously? The house just got rebuilt and now its infested with bed bugs thanks to yall. Congratulations for continuing to put people further and further behind!!! DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM THESE PEOPLE AT ALL!! You will be just like they are. Infested with bed bugs.
This listing is for the shelter I disagree with a few of the comments left and would like to put a more realistic comment based on my previous and current experience being at this place. For one I have never had any issues while staying at this place the staff has been really helpful. The place is clean. As of right now I can reassure others this place is easy going. The staff working up front are reasonable and keep everything running smoothly. The captains are kind, friendly and common sense based and will work with others to the best of there ability.Service are animals are allowed here. There are no bed bugs in this place. Family rooms included. There is alot of helpful resources in Abilene we came from conroe last August after being homeless for several months unaware of what resources were available to us. My gut told me go to Abilene. Abilene is a great city to start out in if youre trying to better yourself. However the POLICE have Low tolerance for LIARS and DRUGS and #THUGS. If your trying to help yourself and your kind and courteous to others I recommend coming here this is a friendly family faith based city. With Lots of people willing to welcome you with open arms. Goodluck Tom. ^.^
Sometimes me and my wife go up there to eat a free meal when we are in need . Roy has a bad heart twards gods people . when someone comes in off of the streets you are supposed to open 3 things . 1 your house 2 your fridge and 3 your heart . i dont know who he thinks 1 very small sandwich fills up but He doesnt want to give out any extra. Such a rude jerk . i hope the new majors make some big changes. And the A hole Roy needs a foot put into his behind
Don’t bother scheduling a pick up because they won’t come. I was going to move today and scheduled the donation pickup for yesterday and the driver never called. I called the store this morning and was told he’d be there he was only running behind, talked to the manager and was told the driver left early and would be off the next 4 days. Thanks for nothing.

2022-04-03Nice place to shop. Although some prices have gotten ridiculously high for donated items. However, Staff is always friendly. They have furniture to clothes. A little of everything and you never know what little treasure you will find.

2022-05-28Great place to go if you dont have anyplace to go (homeless) . They also serve Breakfast at 6:30 am in the morning . Lunch on some days around 1100 am to 1200 pm. . And dinner is at 5:30pm

2021-11-15Cannot try on clothes-no mirrors to see how it looks-no refunds or exchanges. Theyve improved the shops interior but theyve stopped selling many donated items having seemed them as not up to their improved upscale interior. Its lost its previous treasure hunter charm.

2021-07-04My 1st time in a shelter. I had a bed, shower and AC. I am glad I will not be homeless long because the food was the worst and not at all healthy which I do not understand. The majority of people were elderly and sick. In the morning they were kicked out on the streets except a few could sit in lobby to stay cool No computers to help with looking for jobs, no TV, nothing. It was an eye opener.

2021-05-04The staff is extremely rude they dont wear face masks to ensure the safety of others. Most of the staff and or volunteers dont realize that if it wasnt for the community that makes donation are the ones who make it possible for them to be able to work there.. And they have the audacity to say will help you with thissituation this time!? How would they feel if we who donate say to them will donate just this once but we cant be giving you free stuff or money all the time.
