Major Carpenter is the worst thing to happen to this location. So many staff issues I cant list them all. Overdoses regularly on the mens side.Poor training and lack of well paid employees lead to neglect and abuse of the clients at this location. Police reports show ppl being locked out in freezing temperatures having to call police to let them in while staff does whatever they want.Clients went without water for weeks at this location due to poor management choices. I personally called the health department and city.I am a homeless advocate and it was made clear Major Carpenter did not want to be held responsible for any if the choices made by staff including but not limited to himself. I have contacted the Lt Kernels office and was told meanwhile, Major announced his departure from this location as of last week.PRAISE GOD!I personally do not recommend this shelter for these and many other reasons not listed. This is my opinion posted as a review not to be used against me in any legal way! :)
I would have to say, that the staff, monitors, and some of the supervisors, do not follow the Salvation Army mission statement at all. This is supposed to be a place to help families in there time of need, and to encourage us to better ourselves, but its not like that. We are treated like were locked up in jail. Stereotyped and profiled cause of other people. And if a problem is taken to Supervisor, they downgrade you. I would love to meet the Head Person and allow him or her to see what goes on, and offer my input or work here to truly be a beacon of the Salvation Army mission statement.
This place doesnt have the resources it claims to and most of the staff has horrible attitudes and is very rude. Theres people doing drugs inside the shelter and they serve expired food. The donations are rarely given to the people who stay there and when they are its usually very little. I wouldnt recommend staying there to anyone.
Salvation Army..Staff Degrade And MisTreat Elderly Clients And Regular Clients..They Serve Expired Food,Horrid Bathrooms,The Staff Is The Worst Staff In America..I Swear If Anyother Place Of Business Treated Clients They Way They Do...The Place Would Be Shut Down And Everyone Would Be Fired..No Compassion.

2022-07-27The staff is AWESOME! The director on the other hand has no compassion for anyone. My 3 yr old daughter and I stayed there for 2 weeks and she never took the time to meet us my daughter loves to give give people flowers and one day she gave all of the staff flowers when she tried to give Brenna one she rudely said that she was allergic to them. After 2 weeks of being there and meeting no one other than the daily staff I started work I was told by Breena that I would no longer be able to stay there because of my work hours so my daughter and I had to leave. 2 weeks there and received no help what so ever I was not allowed to stay because I work certain hours Ive called twice to see about. any rental assistance that might be available and was told by the director there was no help to be offered. She wasnt willing to work with me at all and its crazy that youre not allowed to work certain hours. I was very grateful for the time I was allowed to stay there but the director is hateful and really needs to get over her self

2022-09-12My 3kids and I stayed there briefly other than being put out so early in the morning it was a blessing. Nice and clean, comfortable beds, food was decent and I had know problem with the staff chores were easy and rules were not hard to follow.

2021-11-19I wish I could give zero stars. This place is AWFUL! They have no compassion for anyone. I just found out a friend of mine passed away there. She was so sick but they didnt care they still MADE her do chores she was 75 yrs old. I asked for some soap and shampoo and was told to go buy my own smh! Me and my husband were separated couldnt stay together after I was told we could when I called them. All we were aloud to do was eat together. Thank GOD we were able to get out ! Bed bugs GALLOR!! AND ROACHES. Now I know why people sleep in tents at the resource center! They helped us more than the SA!

2020-03-13When I was at the Amarillo Salvation Army, I had a bed and we had dinner. The part about staying there at first was kinda hard to get use to. Try to be in bed by lights out, then you lay there hearing other people calphing, talking and their music playing off their phones. Now after about the second month I was able to handle it. Now around January I started valintering. I did that for the whole month of January till about the second week of February. The staff there are alright and the security guards so respect.
