Every once in a while my husband and I go to see what little treasures we can find. I have a lot of little things so I always hope to find a wall shelf.. I have found 2 so far. We even got a dresser from there that we have near our front door to put supplies. Each of us gets a drawer and of course on top... more of my little things.. haha
Doing the most good for people, I had a chance to tuor the hole building, they have a lot of activities going on, please donate I was truly amazed by all the ways they serve the community, they even have a spacious hall they can rent out. When you see the red bucket with the bell men and women dont just give your spare change make an actual donation this year and years to follow.
Suggestions:1. Park away from the big RVs. Thanfully, the parking lot is big enough compared to Texas Thrift.2. Be certain of sizes. No fitting room. No returns. Remember, older clothing had different clothing sizing.3. Ask for help. The staff is very friendly and will help you take items to your car.4. Do yourself a favor and get a shopping cart. Otherwise, you will be dropping clothes on the floor.5. For the elderly, diabetics, and people with cardiac issues, take a walker with an attached seat because there is a no sitting on the furniture policy. However, the associates might be able to provide you a chair, if you simply ask.
This organization is known worldwide for the aid and assistance that it offers to those in need or distress. The thing that I most appreciate is that they do not boast about their accomplishments. They simply say that they are about the Lords work. If you are thinking of donating, this organization will use your money wisely to help those in need.
I use to go to this loaction when i was a kid and continue to go now that im a adult but have noticed that the prices for some of these items have started to get way over price i mean you look at some of the items in the store and you would think you where at a furniture store with the price tags that are on them. so now i dont buy much because i dont have much to spend. If i was going to spend $2,500. on a bed room set ill just go to a furniture store there i can make payments.
Greedddyyyyyy ppl those men taking the stuff down .. The three bags and one box i donated wasnt enough he wanted my sons things and my personal items he saw in my truck by sticking his head in tried to take my sons personal items out .. Smh .. Never again .. Goodwill next time
Today I went to donate some things and I spoke on the phone to find out where I could leave them, the rude and not patient lady, she put the music on me when I was talking. They put a lot of buts on you, they dont accept many things and they get delicate, he almost told me, leave things where they are.He believed that then they do not need as much help as they say. How sad!

2022-04-14Love to thrift here, on Wednesday everything is 1/2 off on clothing, pretty cool, some reviews say is expensive, its about helping, not donating cents. Like how they renovated the building, and how clean and organize is. Never been to the other side, but they do help many people and that is pretty amazing.

2021-11-29Serving the Hidalgo County during Coronavirus and helping those in shelter with each individual facing difficult challenges in their life is not an easy task for The Salvation Army. But if the staff keep strong and work and Glorify God then the mission is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and help strengthen communities who connect with the Church.

2020-11-09Im staying at the shelter now. In my mind I thought the Salvation Army was a place for drunks...drug users and bums. Boy was I wrong. This place is cleaner than a hospital. When I checked in they did a background check drug test and breathalyzer test on me. The staff is wonderful and very professional. They have hot showers. You can wash your clothes. They even wash bed linens every day. With 3 meals a day you dont go hungry. The food is delicious. Thanks Salvation Army for taking care of me in my time of need. If I could I would give them a 10 star rating.

2019-12-25I am a big time thrifter and I love that their thrift store has a lot of great brand name clothes at very cheap prices. I also like that what they make in profits, they use it to help the people in our community that need meals or a place to sleep. I feel good knowing that I can give back as well. You can also donate stuff you no longer need or want so that this organization can continue doing a good thing.

2016-12-31I tried to donate and they did not accept my stuff. I have been taking my things, Instead, to the thrift stores. As far as services to the community, I will go see about a tour. As far as the store, I know they have one day during the week that they lower the prices a lot. Check their calendar. You will be surprised. The prices during that one day are great. I am not sure, but I think the day is the first Saturday of the month.

2018-12-24For stuff they get donated they are still expensive for people who are unable to shop retail.I could not believe the prices on some stuff they had there to sell(donated) unbelievable what they are priced. You should hire an individual who is familiar with retail so they could be priced correctly.Dont take advantage of people and their kind hearts when they drop off stuff they parted with. You all get monetary donation every day lowerer your prices just saying. Its not that you have a large over head your employee work for free in order to stay with you in your shelter all right so why so over priced just stating a true fact.

2016-11-04The food they serve at the Soup Kitchen for dinner (5:30 PM - 6:00 PM) is usually fairly good, the staff that works with the homeless are dedicated, and also fairly nice if you stay on their good side. They try their best to keep order in a fairly diverse and challenging environment whilst trying to ensure everyone stays safe and helps where they can.

2018-02-21The Salvation Army is a place for everyone, especially in the time of need. First, not only can you donate your household items, u can also purchase items right there in the store. Second, they have these vouchers that they give u that are not only for clothing items but they can also help with your utility bills. And third, not only do they have a great shelter to spend the night, they cook the most delicious hot meals for everyone. Whether youre a single mom, nursing student(like myself), or you find yourself in a time of need. The doors are ALWAYS open
