Tillies in other cities:
Had a great time at Tillie’s! Was amazed by the architecture and atmosphere. Was even more blown away after learning it was originally built in Vietnam and brought over here, so cool! The food was absolutely amazing as well. Tyler, a manager there, recommended the Italian Sausage Cavatelli. It was marvelous. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great spot in Dripping Springs!
The ambience, food and staff are all superb! This is one of my favorite places for special occasions. Especially when we want to stay over at Camp Lucy, which admittedly is a funny name for such a beautiful resort in the country. Weve been here for birthdays, anniversaries and just to get away. The best kept secret in Dripping Springs, 45 minutes from downtown Austin, besides Church of the Springs! 😀
Fine dinning experience in the middle of the TX hill country. The menu is not overly complicated and gives you a choice of anything youd want. Was very impressed with the table service and staff. Whether youre there for brunch or for dinner make sure you save room for a espresso martini
Tillies is one of those hybrid restaurants that you find so often around Austin. It definitely gives you a comfortable feel and you can dress casually however the food is definitely closer to fine dining. How do you say youre having a desire to break free from some of the boredom that Dripping Springs has offer Tillies is definitely a good place to go.The food is creative and interesting and the cocktails are definitely above most of what you get in Austin in my opinion. The staff is always accommodating and Incredibly kind and if youre willing to spend a little bit more for meal definitely a place for a good date or a treat yourself kind of day. The atmosphere is unique for feeling cozy, antiqued, and modern all the same time the portions are pretty perfectly size sometimes you get leftover sometimes you dont but I never feel like I didnt have a full meal. While I dont like to give stars out too often places that I give a little bit more attention to Tillies was definitely one I consider and Ive decided to give it 5 stars. For a finer than normal dining experience I think the prices are fine the food is always good and the staff is lovely the takeaway is that it has an incredibly unique Interior Design and its a lovely drive to get out there.
I usually love this place- great food, drinks, service and ambiance- what you’d expect from this type of restaurant. In my most recent visit however, the food was a major disappointment. My family who was in town to visit ordered the teres major steaks, and they were very under seasoned and tough. I ordered the green circle chicken, and while it was deliciously seasoned, the chicken was also dry and tough. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious and the appetizers were all great. I hope this was an off night for kitchen staff, but we’ll be hesitant to order those menu items in the future. Conversely, I can’t say enough about the great service, we’ve had Lorenzo a couple of times and he’s been awesome.
We had a lovely dinner with our son at Tillies Wed 11-24-2021; Our server Clairessa, was outstanding!!! Each of us had a different entree & the presentation was incredible; The quality of each meal was outstanding & made to order. Hats off to the chef.. The grounds and upkeep of them were beautiful. There were deer all around & the ambiance was delightful. This is a place you must visit while visiting o going through Dripping Springs. It is quiet & relaxing off the main road with a huge property to explore. We did not get a chance to see the rooms but I hear they re lovely as well. Thanks to all the staff for an incredible meal & experience!!!!!
Such a fun place on camp Lucy grounds! Food was good and a good size plate which is always good. I appreciate spending the money when the food serving is a good size. But it wasnt too crazy price wise either. We had brunch and the eggs anyway plate, great, the bacon is my fav!
Food and service was very good and atmosphere was lovely. However, we had a problem with the dessert. They had a dessert that was ice cream with coffee. We thought it would be ice coffee since it was with ice cream, but it was boiling hot coffee poured over ice cream. It was so hot, it made my fiance cough and spit it out. This was the worst dessert concept and ruined the experience for us. It should be avoided and quite frankly, removed from the menu.
We had dinner here this evening and it was amazing. The staff was over the top helpful and courteous and the ambiance of the building is impeccable. If a guy took me here on a first date, there would definitely be a second date.We had the pork belly and grits appetizer and it was melt in your mouth good. The ribeye was delicious too. Also, make sure to save room for the chocolate pot de creme dessert.
What a GEM! This place was such a wonderful escape from the city. The food and staff (our waitress was Tristan) we’re both so great. Highlights include the spicy vodka cavatappi with brisket, the duck with risotto and the NY strip. Not to mention, the property and restaurant itself are so beautiful. HIGHLY recommend!!!
Great dinner to celebrate my birthday. Great service and food. Obviously ambiance was top notch. I kept thinking if this were culturally appropriate or not but then I thought this town hall would be demolished anyways so I was thankful that Tillie’s could preserve it. The four star is only because of the limited menu. Now, we are going through a pandemic and I’m all for shopping locally but still I thought that the menu could have been offered a few more options. Definitely needs more dessert. The one we had failed miserably and we all just left it on the plate. Mac and cheese, cornbread were so good. Poke bowl was also disappointing, more rice than anything else. Husband had to ask for soy sauce cause it was just rice and few pieces of fish. Overall it felt uninspired and hastily put together. But all in all, will be back! Just no dessert and poke bowl ha ha.Off note, I loved the Thai curry but not sure how rest of the Texas peeps tolerate that heat. It’s not jalepeno heat, it’s Thai chilli mouth tingling heat. I enjoyed it to the last bite. Thanks for the experience!
Our food was simply not of the quality we had envisioned. The interpretation of Spaghetti Vongole was far too large a portion (simply doubled the starter size for an entrée request) and devoid of clams. We had expected the clams to be in the shell, but the few that did come in the large mound of pasta were not. It should be noted that our server and the restaurant manager did an excellent job of seeking to put things right. Two of our party chose the Shrimp and Grits. The description on the menu indicated some spice in the flavor. I can tell you that whilst the shrimp were tasty, the grits were tasteless. I requested a side of jalapeños and was given a small dish of salsa. A few drops added to the grits made all the difference!Overall a shame as our friendly server was let down by the kitchens output.
Early rez @ 5:15pm virtually gave us the entire restaurant to ourselves with our party of four. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to sit and converse with everyone at our table. As it got later, the crowds rolled in and the volume increased exponentially. Thus the quality of our experience diminished.Waitstaff is super, courteous and friendly. We shared 2 appys: the focaccia bread (the lemon butter was delicious) and the best salad (was fabulous). I really enjoyed the red snapper and my husband enjoyed his hifi mushroom risotto.
Holy cow - this place went beyond my expectations! We were in town visiting and saw this place offered brunch. We headed up there not knowing what to expect (poorly dressed, no reservations). They were kind enough to squeeze us in AND everything from the moment we walked in was fabulous! The decor, the service, the food, drinks, coffee... Everything!! I highly recommend this place, especially the brunch tasting menu!
Brusell sprouts, tuna tartare, NY Strip (blue) and Swordfish, plus cocktails - all wonderful.Highlight of the night was our server Tre, great guy, relaxed polite demeanor, knowledgeable and happy to give recommendations where asked. If youre in the dripping springs area, this place is a great spot on the more upscale resort side thats well worth a visit.
If angels were able to make biscuits and they came down from heaven and developed a biscuit to make you think you were about to drift into heaven... this would be that biscuit. As a southern lady and a connoisseur of biscuits I give this biscuit 11 stars out 10. Make God bless the biscuit maker and her/his hands and heart.
I have been trying to make it out to Camp Lucy and Tillies for a while now, and finally got to experience Tillies. I cant remember the last time I left a dining and drink experience, and left feeling so happy and relived inside. The service, atmosphere, drinks, and plates were perfect, and we only got to experience the Bar menu. We will definitely return to get the full experience of staying at Camp Lucy and enjoying every meal at Tillies.
Almost 5* and I’ll tell you why! Ambiance, amazing! Food, amazing! I am a big tequila fan and in such a restaurant not to have Clase Azul is a big minus but totally not important to everyone! What bothered me the most is a service. It wasn’t bad, ladies were trying hard but we had a very nice waitress but she was too loud. Then they left us with a dirty knives on a table... omg... Fine dining restaurants never does that! Please pick up my dirty knife that I have been eating appetizer with and bring me a clean one!! That is my first no fine dining experience! Second, waitress didn’t ask us if we want anything else before she bring us a check...she just slide a check and that was it! To be a real fine dining you need a fine tuning but that’s all. In general food was good and the restaurant is something that doesn’t exist in Texas for sure!
Kristie our server was amazing. I recommend the chicken, pan seared, it was the best chicken plate I ever had. We are going back next month. We celebrated our honeymoon dinner there. Very beautiful place, the music was very good for the ambiance. Beautiful design throughout the entry and dining area. Thank you Tillies for the drinks aswell This side of Nicaragua and the lady hancock drinks were on point. Good job to the bartender.
Food was delicious! I got the duck confeit, which was the special for that night. It was very tender duck and flavorful. My best friend got the lamb chops. He said they tasted amazing, perfecly cooked. Very friendly staff. The restaurant is kept clean and tables are located good distance from each other. The ambiance setting is just right. The decor is amazing! One of a kind, Vietnamese church relics and detailed wood cravings are just spectacular. Definitely recommend! Its a little dark if you go at night so make sure to drive slow and follow GPS. Its next to Camp Lucy a wine country resort and venue rental.
The food is both interesting and delicious. I ordered the coffee rubbed steak and potatoes, the crab fried rice, and a brownie with salted caramel and ice cream. There was a minor issue with our order and our waitress and the manager took care of the issue gracefully. I forgot the waitresses name but she wore glasses and her name began with a C. She was attentive and a pleasure to talk to. The environment was also very charming which added immensely to the dining experience.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Beautiful place. A little pricy but you get what you pay for. Service was good. Make sure to get a reservation for the weekends because it does get crowded. And there is also a wedding venue on site. So that hinders getting a table as well
Google maps takes you to the wedding venue. Its actually the first place on the left. The alpacas are right outside.Beautifully decorated inside and out. We dined outside because of our dog. (Our preference) Lorenzo, our waiter was very attentive and accommodating.I had the Louis gold standard margarita which was good but I enjoyed the saints and sinners drink more. The buratta was earthy, fresh and delicious. I got the coffee steak which was superb. A little different from your traditional steak but it was nice to have something a little different. For dessert we had their apple bourbon puff pastry with ice cream that was to die for. Not too heavy and was great to finish off out meal.
Pros-Lovely ambience, great service, nice drinks. The interiors are so beautiful and the restaurant grounds are pretty.Cons-The food is just ok. The Brussels sprouts we ordered were deep fried and oily, the focaccia bread was oily as well. The entrees and desserts were just very average. Nothing exceptional.Come for the ambience, interiors and the drinks.
Fantastic food and drinks and probably one of the most well decorated restaurants. Very artistic and home kind of feelings radiating from here. Food was beyond amazing, biscuits as an appatezier really knocked it out of the park but hands down had the best steak Ive had in a long time. Will definitely come here more often whenever Im in town.
This was one of the highlights of my trip to Austin! I had the chickpea shashuka and the lavender lemonade for brunch. Hands down one of the best meals I ever had. I also had a lovely time chatting with one of the guest representatives, Tyler terry, who showed me around and even got to tour the vinyard! The views here are amazing, food is impeccable and the staff was so down to earth. I’ll be back for sure!
Great place to experience very creative cuisine in a Hill country gem of a location. The staff were engaged and talented. The menu is understandably narrow due to smaller total patrons. The food itself shows the hallmark of a chef who leads with confidence and delivers on expectations. Well done, and gimme another one of those biscuits!
Tillies is beautiful and the atmosphere is wonderful, but the food was severely disappointing. We came in for our 1st anniversary and the waitress brought us some champagne which was very nice. For apps, we had the tuna aguachili, burrata and arancini. The tuna and burrata were both tasty, but the arancini was frozen in the middle. Ice cold. I mentioned this to our waitress and she took it away for us with no issues. For entrees we had the coffee rubbed steak, which was fine, and the shrimp and grits, which were SO incredibly salty, it was borderline inedible. For dessert, we had the panna cotta, which again was fine but nothing memorable. For the price of some of these dishes, I was really shocked at how mediocre the food and the entire experience was. We didnt hate anything, just not super impressed.
All the food was great, however, we started off wanting to pick one or two food items at a time, but our server said the kitchen preferred to get our full order so they could course the meal for us. we needed a minute to select all our food choices, but a few minutes later, we placed our full order and the server left to fetch our first drinks. several minutes later, all three of the small plates we ordered come out at THE SAME TIME, so now, not only are things not coursed, but our tiny table for two is now completely full of food. Not what we preferred, but well make it work, not the end of our meal. we start making our way into the small plates, and are only half way into our cocktails, and boom, out come our entres, with another server saying, ooh, looks like the kitchen is working fast tonight. That was it, too much, we said no. you cant leave these here, weve not even come close to finishing our apps (not to mention, we had planned to have 3 or 4 drinks each over the course of a leisurely dinner). They took the food back and let us keep eating. We took our time and put in a drink order to go with the entrees, they re-fired the meat, and brought it out, however, when the bar server brought our drinks he also brought a second drink my wife had mentioned wanting to have after her cocktail with the apps (but had been told to order when she was ready for her second drink), so here hes bringing three glasses of wine to a table for two.facepalm.I get it, if the kitchen wants to create. experience and pace the food, fine, but to tell us not to do that, and then have all our food arrive within about 20 min (3 apps and 2 entrees) cmon. I dont feel its fair to dock two whole stars, but 4 feels generous.
We ended up at Tillies by complete happenstance. Driving around killing some time hunger bells rang. We did a quick search and found it was the closest place with good reviews. When we arrived we were blown away by the ambiance and the grandeur. Although we are in jeans, we were welcomed in.The cocktails and food were excellent. The biscuits were some of the best we ever had. We were too busy eating to take pictures of everything, but it was top knotch all the way. The food was expensive, but worth every penny, including the cocktails. If you are a fan of bourbon, they have a smoked old fashioned that is great, but their signature drink, the bourbonist, was even better. We are looking forward to our next trip to Tillies, but this time we will make it a planned destination.
The last time we went to Tillies, about three years ago, it was wonderful. This time, it was ok.Staff was friendly. We sat for a bit before being greeted, noting that the servers had quite a large section, both inside and out. The patio, which is located just odd the pool, seems a little odd. As far as food, it was good, although not in line with the pricing. The risotto is served extremely al dente. When mentioned, the server stated this is what the chef says it should be like. Yes, its supposed to be al dente, not stick to your teeth al dente.Bottom line, for the cost, it just wasnt on par.I think theyve gotten to big for their britches.
The building is quite beautiful and I gather imported from Vietnam. I got very excited for some authentic southeast asian cuisine, but they didnt have that. In fact, it was a Saturday and even though we were there at 1pm, they only had a brunch menu. Mostly eggs and pancakes, which I had consumed more like 8am when I had breakfast. Almost no real lunch options, not even a burger or a club sandwich. I ended up with chicken fried steak, which was okay I guess, but a far cry from what I was hoping for! If you want brunch, save the time and the money and go to Dennys.
Had the perfect experience dining here last night for my husband and my monthly date night. The food was spectacular—I was impressed to see morel mushrooms in one dish and after we ordered it, was just as impressed with the taste and quality of the food. They’ve done well creating delicious yet delicate and unique tastes in each dish we tried, especially the cast iron brownie dessert! We will definitely be back to try more menu items with friends and family. Tip: explore the entire grounds if possible; the venue is beautiful beyond the restaurant.
A place like no other in the Hill Country. Innovative menu relying on locally sourced food. Asian inspired ambience. Wonderful cocktail menu and a varied wine list containing marvelous wines for every palate. Go eat your way through the small plates menu and you will encounter a myriad of tastes that you didnt know were your new favorites. The kitchen can be leisurely at times, but the wait is worth it.
Tillie’s used to be one of our “go to” restaurants. Our first time there was just after they opened, and the entire experience was exemplary in every way, right down to the s’mores on the way out. The next couple times were a bit hit or miss, but still overall very good and well worth keeping in the rotation.Through COVID, we hadn’t been back in over a year. Had friends in from out of town last week and decided on Tillie’s for dinner. We were seated, and our server appeared fairly quickly to take initial drink orders...which is when things started to go downhill. It probably took 10 minutes to get our glasses of wine, at which time server told us they preferred to take appetizer and entree orders together and they would time everything. One of our friends ordered focaccia bread as an appetizer, and we ordered our entrees...one chicken, one risotto and two shrimp and grits.A good 20 minutes + later and the focaccia had still not arrived. I asked our server, who offered a half hearted explanation I couldn’t make out, but no apology for the delay. A few minutes later the focaccia arrived. Shortly thereafter two of the entrees arrived (risotto and one shrimp), leaving two of us waiting. The third entree was brought out a few minutes later (chicken), and after an uncomfortable amount of time waiting, I told my wife and friends to please eat, don’t wait on me. They were about halfway through their entrees when my order (shrimp and grits) finally arrived. Please don’t misunderstand..the food was very good, which is the reason I’m giving three stars. That being said, the wait times for our drinks and appetizer and the poor coordination of our entrees were unacceptable. Our server did offer an “apology from the kitchen” for the extended delay on my meal, but never came by to mention the delay on drinks or our appetizer until I asked. Further, if Tillie’s wants to be a top level restaurant (which they seem to want to be based on their pricing), a manager should be aware of issues such as we experienced and should at least come talk to us.Sadly, Tillie’s is now out of my rotation. There are too many really good restaurants in the vicinity.
What could have been a beautiful celebratory night in a majestic setting where we had a delicious meal, cocktails, a bottle of wine and rented a room at Camp Lucy was instead long wait times for drinks, empty glasses, biscuit that taste like KFC, over cooked entre and sub par service. My husband and I visited for our anniversary and were extremely disappointed. Upon arriving the two host were very welcoming and kind, wishing us a happy anniversary and then asking us to wait at the bar while they prepared our table. We made our way into the beautiful dining room to find it very empty and waited at the bar. We pulled up the menu with their QR code and proceeded to order our drinks. The bartender was short with us informing us that the drink my husband ordered was no longer on the menu because it was seasonal. During the time it took him to pick another they sat us at our table.Shortly after someone brought us water and then we waited quite sometime before our waitress finally came over. I was still waiting to get the drink I ordered when she took my husband order. It was at least 20 minutes from the time we ordered drinks that we finally received them. I would understand if they were busy but there couldnt have been more than 25-30 people dining in that evening and 4 -5 wait staff plus service staff to support them. When it came to ordering our food the menu that is listed online was not the menu that they had once you scanned the QR code on the table. The menu was extremely limited and the single desert offered was strange. I ordered the special, a pork chop inside a squash and my husband had the steak. While waiting for our food to arrive our drinks sat empty and we waited for our server to visit our table. She made eye contact with me and kept on walking. She finally came over and we were able to ask for a second round of beverages. When our food arrived his steak was very good but my pork chop was extremely dry. I will say the brussels sprouts were quite good but still didnt make up for the awful entre. Our waitress tried to make it better by offering me another entre but with the limited menu, there was nothing else that seemed appealing.Since we only have one anniversary a year, we like to make that evening special and are willing to spend some good money. We drove almost an hour one way to visit Tillies and got a babysitter. If I wanted to receive a short tempered and inattentive staff I would have had my toddler wait on us and cooked my own dry pork chop.
We did brunch and it was awesome! Loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious! The only thing lacking was speed of service. We were there 2 hrs... There was a large party before us. So this caused the plates to come out of order and we had to ask for the kids plates twice because they were getting restless.
Drinks were good, appetizers were very good. Problem was service and timing. Two hours after seating and an hour after ordering entrees we still did not have our food. No apologies or any recognition something was wrong. I took my disappointing burnt steak to go and regretted going at all.
Had the brunch here, which was served as fixed multiple course pairing of foods. I have to say it was some of the best food tastings I have ever had! Hats off to the chef 👌🏻The staff is also super friendly and a pleasure to be around. Its hard to believe how reasonably priced it was too. The portions are super small, but found out afterwards you could re-order any dish that was brought out (Would have been good to know before hand!!). The grounds are very pretty, not to mention the drive to get there. Def excited to come back for an entree, Im sure its out of this world if its anything like the brunch menu. Great place to check out for any occasion.
Last night we went to Tillies which is normally a great experience. We were prepared for a limited menu but 4 entrees? REALLY?! Chicken fish vegetarian and beef. They were out of the salmon, they were out of the wine we ordered, the corn butter biscuits have been changed and now have no corn or honey in the butter, the butternut squash soup was more of a purée that was cold and the chicken 2 of us offered was so salty we had to remove the skin and it was just barely tolerable. We then were offered the option of ordering The dessert, chocolate pot a creme. They have no other desserts and it was very underwhelming. The server was quite good but put in a bad situation by the kitchen.Unfortunately it will be some time before we are willing to risk dropping a couple hundred for a mediocre to bad dinner in such a lovely setting. We are very disappointed because Drippjng is very short on nice dinner places. We’ll have to drive farther next time.
We really liked this place. For brunch, it has a set menu order with set sizes and you cant order more till the end, per chefs request. So dont go here really hungry, because they serve French style, so youll engulf every course instead of enjoying. Ask for extra biscuits ahead of time, if you get into this situation.
Great getaway location. Only an hour and a quarter drive through some country roads from San Antonio. We went on a weekday during spring which made for a gorgeous drive. Absolutely beautiful dining room. We were only the second couple to arrive shortly after opening. No reservation for lunch but as the dining room is small and fills fast, having one would help with peace of mind. Lunch menu starters dont quite pair well with the main course offerings but are delicious none the less. Unfortunately our main course selections both had fries that were oversalted to the point of having to quit early. Im sure this was a one off by the kitchen as the quality of the rest of the food was top notch. We also sampled the brownie dessert to finish off the experience but our salt receptors were already looking to pick a fight with the next molecule of sodium chloride they ran across so the flavor was lost to an over primed palate. We will definitely return for an evening experience as Im sure sunset must be absolutely divine.
Made dinner reservations but they werent ready. No big deal, but after reading every placard twice in the foyer we finally asked the teenage hostesses if there was a bar we could wait at. It never occurred to them that the people twiddling their thumbs on the couch might visit the bar (theres a big door that blocks the view of the restaurant from the foyer). We waited so long at the bar for a table that we just decided to eat there. Food took almost an hour. I think they forgot to put the order in. We finally got our plates literally as the bar staff was cleaning up for the night. We were starved, inhaled our food and left asap. Such a bummer. We have two small kids and date night is such a treat. I would have rather eaten fast food and taken a bottle of wine to a hilltop somewhere. They did comp us over 80 dollars, which was a nice gesture, and from what I remember the food was great. However, I think they should have spent less on exotic doors and decor and more on staff training.
My husband and I got married at Camp Lucy in 2016, so we were thrilled when Tillie’s opened. The first time we visited, we had an incredible, tasty, and filling meal. The ambience of the building and the staff were both incredible. We decided to return for Valentines Day this year, and were unfortunately rather disappointed. While the food was thoughtfully curated and delicious, we both left STARVING. My vegetarian entree contained 4 Brussels sprouts and about 6 tiny sprouts of cauliflower. Our bill for the two of us was $250 (for dinner and one $38 bottle of wine), and we literally drove straight from the restaurant to pick up a pizza.
Me and my girlfriend had a great birthday dinner and stuff and especially manager Bickin came to our table and even celebrate my girlfriend birthday and said nice things. Food was great and the restaurant seems like very unique ambiance and atmosphere 👌. I would definitely came back here again to have another amazing dinner.
We did brunch here and it was great. Definitely more on the fine dining side, but we felt comfortable with our 6 month old on the patio. The inside is very open and lovely. Its a fixed dim sum menu for brunch, but closer to tapas than traditional dim sum. I have a dairy allergy and they were incredibly accomodating-- altering some of their menu items and being sure to let me know if something couldnt be changed. We especially enjoyed the hash and dumplings. Were actually planning on going back for dinner later this week.
We liked Tillies. Apart from the beautiful relocated structures and decor, the chef has assembled a delicious variety for the menu. Everything we tried (several appetizers, two rounds of cocktails, four entrées, two desserts, one coffee) had a punchy twist in its taste and generous presentation, each perfectly cooked and prepared. The outside grounds of the surrounding camp are beautiful. Service was attentive, a bit aloof at times, but not in an overt or deliberate way, just a bit strange. (Its the Hill Country in Texas, so its okay to relax.)
Cant say enough about this delightful restaurant. The food was wonderful, everything from the too hot to eat honey cornbread biscuits, to the cocktails and main course. The drive out for us was at dusk and it was beautiful and relaxing.A fantastic all around experience and every bit worth the drive.
Spectacular. Great food, great staff/service. I was nervous about the ramen but it was very tasty (broth made from charred corn and chicken). The cast iron biscuits were superb. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked. The cast iron brownie ... wow! And the hospitality was just as good as the food! We will return!
Oh my gows.. Amazing. Totally worth the drive during the day. I would not want to drive home after even one drink in the dark. Pretty out there. The food is expensive of course..we had the pasta. They make the pasta from scratch and the butter sauce was really great we split the order. It was plenty for me but my husband left hungry. On the way out of the restaurant there are fixings to make smores - out side in this really nice sitting area with a modern gas lit fireplace. We walked the grounds a bit. Really nice. Definitely worth it. I would take out of town guests to it!
I wish I could give Tillie’s 10 stars! My husband and I went for lunch and it was our first time. We’re foodies and love trying new things. First thing’s first - get the fried brussel sprouts. I don’t even like them in general, but I couldn’t stop eating these! The chef was the Odd Duck’s prior chef, and that cuisine is subtly incorporated in Tillie’s dishes, leaving each plate bright and multi-dimensional. Service was exceptional - we were treated like family friends. The build out is so exceptional, I’m at a loss for words. Well done. It’s worth the drive!
The food here is truly excellent. We went for lunch and cant wait to try them again at dinner. Service is quick and efficient. The ramen with pork belly was a welcome and delicious meal, as was the fried redfish and chips. Pricing is extremely fair for fine dining here, and the atmosphere and ambiance, with the history of the building, amazing. Bravo! Excellent beverage selection to accompany a stunning meal.
What a Joy it is to have this wonderful restaurant in our area! It is absolutely tops in service, innovative dishes, warm and friendly service while still being elegant! The ancient temple that has been converted to a lovely restaurant is enchanting to enter, and delights the eye. Welcome and best wishes from me and my family.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Tillie’s in Dripping Springs and it was over the edge good! The atmosphere was superb and the wait staff were all excellent! We really enjoyed it! Thank you Tillie’s for being open in Thanksgiving during this COVID pandemic. Great place!
Exceptional. Tillies is a very nice upscale restaurant in a countryside setting. The interior and the outside dining areas are well appointed and picturesque. I was there for an early dinner. Food and service was excellent, starting with the Smoked Shrimp Hushpuppies then the Grilled Beef Short Rib. Both were very tasty, well prepared and well presented. Yes, its expensive. The food menu is a bit short on selections, but my selections were perfect. The location is a bit remote. Probably the best restaurant west of Austin.
We arrived at 8:30, ordered our appetizer which we got probably 10 minutes after ordering. We received no silverware with the appetizer. The manager finally came by to ask how we were doing, after my husband was already done with his serving, so I was able to ask for silverware. He apologized and went to grab us some. We ordered our entrées while we were waiting for our biscuit appetizer, so around 8:40... WE DID NOT RECEIVE OUR DINNER UNTIL TEN O’CLOCK!! So you’re telling me it took almost an HOUR AND A HALF to cook our two ribeyes????!!!!!?! Once we FINALLY got our dinner I could tell that my steak vs my husbands looked different even though they were ordered the same way, medium. My steak had more of a char and my husbands was super tough. They were both drowning in some sauce that was a bit much... they had no sides of veggies or any type of green available. The steaks came with 4-5 giant, oversized potato wedges and then we could also buy our choice of two extra sides which were corn or a potato salad...carbs or carbs. No option for even a side salad! The manager served us more than our actual server did. They tried to pin their complications on a large party of 10-15 that they had outside but that’s NO EXCUSE! My husband and I own a business and have two toddlers at home. This was our ONE night we set aside to “splurge” our hard earned money on and the $200+ was NOT worth it! Our server came out and said “the chef would like to treat you to a dessert on him for the long wait”..... WOW we got one free snickerdoodle cookie with sautéed peaches on top and a side scoop of ice cream for free...which we also had to wait 15 minutes for! The manager did not comp ANY portion of our meal!!! Very VERY disappointed!!
Family dinner there last night. The building is absolutely spectacular. The food was very good. The reason I didnt give it 5 stars was because the service was sooo slow. Water refill was constant, but the food took forever, and we werent checked on by the waitress very often. Seemed she was in a hurry. But, we would go back.
Worth the trek, worth the adventure.Stopped by for brunch, it was awesome! We did their fixed brunch menu, which is a mix of Southern and Asian foods, all of which was coursed family-style and worked really well together. It felt very original, but not alientating (so I wouldnt worry too much about picky eaters, there is an a la carte menu too). Everything was served in small portions, but with 7 courses, Im grateful! Staff was all very friendly and helpful. Its located in Camp Lucy, and there is a lot of history there (about the camp, family, Tillies, even the buildings). Id recommend spending a little extra time looking around and getting some awesome photos, there are some great vistas.
A very very best experience with some really great food. If you are in the area or even if you are not it is a great stop. The atmosphere is really cool as it is built out of an old church that was taken apart and brought to this location. Its on some very pretty grounds and the drive to Tillies is very pretty.
Wow, this is a rare and exceptional find. Tucked away off Creek Road this restaurant delivered stunningly great food and drinks. The wait and bar staff were also highly attentive and friendly. This could easily crush it as a stand alone restaurant (it’s part of an event venue). Make a reservation, there are limited seats. This is an awesome addition to the restaurant desert we have out here.
Our first time here at Camp Lucy. Made a reservation for dinner at Tillie’s. We were never given a waiter and waited 30 min before we got the manager’s attention. They sent the bartender to our table and finally ordered drinks. Took her 20 more min to order our dinner. Never came back to ask if we wanted another drink. One hour later no second round and no waitress in sight. We left but not before going to the manager to make it right. Which she did not. We left and went to our room with no dinner. Ended up having to drive off property to find a restaurant that was open at 9 on a Sunday. A horrible experience.Update 11/20/18: Two managers separately reached out to me and apologized for the lack of service we received. We were offered dinner the next night, but we declined. They sent to our room a bottle of wine and refunded a portion of the cost of our stay. The property is a lovely place and well designed, we just happened to come at a night that was not running at the level it should have.
I have been in many great restaurants but Tillie’s! What an experience.. just driving there through narrow country roads to the moment they open the door to the grandeur of the restaurant, outstanding service, elegant and beautiful silver ware to the most unique and delicious food.. you will be nicely surprise from their appetizers to the main course and make sure you leave room for dessert.. Thank you chef and staff for an amazing dinner
The building and atmosphere was breath taking. Brie helped make our visit amazing with her initial greeting, check ins, honest feedback, and service. She was witty and refreshing. While the location could use some more signs along the back roads to ensure you dont miss the right turn that will cost you a 30-min detour, it is worth the wrong turn. This hidden gem wont be a secret for long.
What a great place to go for a Sunday brunch! The brunch is a prix fixe menu of around seven courses, delivered as share plates. Innovative takes on traditional recipes like French Toast, dumplings, hash browns, etc. Familiar sounding but with creative twists. While the dishes appear small, and they allow you to reorder the ones you like, effectively making it an eat-all-you-can kind of thing, in reality most of you will be full by the end of the set seven courses. And it is so affordable! The restaurant is in a building that is a reassembled Vietnamese Town Hall - every beam, pillar, and roof tile were numbered and shipped from Asia to Austin hill country. The drive out there is definitely worth it.
Where do I start? This place creates dishes that dreams are made of. Perfect balance of seasonings and presentation, subtle delivery. Understated, natural and unpretentious staff. Tillies offers an elegant dining experience with staff that feel like old friends. And where else can you fine in a Vietnamese town hall? All the boxes checked off here. Off the beaten path, scenic drive optional. The best meal weve had in a very long time. Were going back!
Very awkward entrance, grumpy host with unwelcoming demeanor. Tried to call multiple times when running late for a reservation to no avail, and then shunned upon arrival with the host questioning if there would be an available table for 2 (there were only 4 tables occupied)....The food was just ok pretty expensive for what we got. Our waitress saved our experience a little but it was hard to ignore the grumpy host lumbering around acting like his job was a great inconvenience to him.Ambiance and architecture were really cool.
Nice place, VERY remote location single lane creek crossings. Would have loved to stay but was in a hurry so sorry this one us kinda short. Maybe they will invite me back for a second look... cool views LONG Driveway! Editing review for stars must have tagged incorrectly... this is definately a 4+ star place!
Don’t ever ever ever ever ever eat here. Total torture. All you can eat if you wait 600 hours. They will not bring you food. If you ask for more food, they tell you no until you’ve had every course. And then they still won’t bring you food. They completely over charged us but we didn’t want to wait 6 more hours for them to correct it.
Menu and food is good though select. Have been twice and early in the evening and both times ran out of entrees. The second time four items not available. Manager did not seemed that concerned. Service was slow and for such a small menu one waitress got three dishes placed wrong and was not able to identify which was which. Also menu has not changed in a month
Breathtaking. Thats the word to describe our first view of the interior of Tillies. Not to give too much away, but you will experience an upscale Far East setting from the 18th Century (Really. They dismantled it and shipped it over). You would expect to see something like this in Manhattans upper east side. Our meal and wine would rate the maximum stars on the Michelin Rating System. What a gem for Dripping Springs.

2022-06-10Had the Best time Wednesday night, enjoyed the whole experience. The Staff was great from the moment we walk-in to our server Tristan and Gabbi her assistant the service was spot on and the food was outstanding. From the appetizers to the salads and then the main course, it was an excellent marriage of flavors, leaving our palettes wanting more....The Chefs made me realize just what it means to have food prepared from scratch, not your ordinary run of the mill meal, this was a full on blend of favors, working so well together. Great job TilliesCant wait to come back......

2022-03-05I went on a Monday and they have a light meal, so I had their BBQ brisket sandwich. It was delicious. Talked with the staff and weekends are when they really go all out. Reservations are highly recommended. I will definitely plan on that. Staff were delightful to visit with.

2022-06-22Tillies has a great Menu and fun drinks! This will be a bit on the pricier side but, I would consider the experience worth it. We ordered the Spicy Brussel sprouts and it may have been our favorite item ordered! The entire menu has Gluten Free labels so that is a big plus for me. The True Bird Smoked Chicken and Painted Hills NY Strip came next. The chicken was OKAY. It wasnt really that great to be honest, but wow! the steak was amazing. It came with a side of potatos that were to die for. Just as a side note; the customer service was pretty bad. At least for our experience she hardly cracked a smile. People are going through tough times and it didnt really bother us, we just took note. We did however catch a cool conversation between another customer and another waiter surrounding the history of this building. Pretty cool!

2021-12-18Its such a beautiful place and worth checking out. Our appetizers (brussel sprouts, tuna, burrata and pasta) were phenomenal. The cocktails were also really tasty. Sadly our entrees disappointed. The crab fried rice was just okay and the roasted chicken was actually awful, couldnt eat it. The service and atmosphere were delightful though.

2021-12-13First off, Tillie’s was the perfect destination to celebrate a half birthday - my precious daughter is 6 months old! Lorento, our server, 100% went above and beyond to ensure that we felt like VIP. Even with an infant and toddler along, the whole staff was very accommodating. Grits for my toddler was a slam dunk and you MUST try the brussel sprouts. I am honestly planning to drive back 10+ miles tomorrow to get more brussel sprouts and some of the homemade Apple dessert. (You can see they apple dessert in the photo of my toddler living her best life). This truly is THE premier food destination in Dripping Springs. My wife and I have already told every person we have talked with about the exceptional experience we had at Camp Lucy!

2021-08-01Came here for my birthday dinner and was offered free champagne but as I couldnt take alcohol, we requested for dessert and they agree! ordered two of their dishes, pork loin and chicken. anyway they change their menu quite often so I dont think it will exactly be the same. but the food is for sure delicious. Chicken is delicious and not dry. Pork loin is tender and delicious as well.Price is on the steep side but to celebrate a special occasion with nice service from Kristen (she looks very sincere), it is well paid.
