Tommys is the real deal. For instance... Mike, I hate to break it to you man. Tommy actually was more concerned with being friendly and saving you a little cash by recommending an alternative method to the tech locks. Little recommendations like that are much appreciated within the drum community. He would have absolutely ordered these locks for you, in stead he shared a little trick of the trade and didnt just take your money and make you wait until said company found time to actually send the locks.I could have paid close to an extra $100 per case for some foam. Tommy was sweet enough to give me the name of the fabric shop to get foam and line them myself. Saved me probably $400! Thats a real drummer community.I brought in the owner of C&C Custom Drums recently. After a friendly conversation and a purchase of exactly what in needed, we went on our way. While we pulled away, the person Ive known for years as a drum builder of the highest quality, also a former retail drum shop owner, all he could say was, Thats the real deal. Great people and drummers, running a shop for drummers. The way it should be. That place has soul.P.S. Id like to thank Mike for being not happy enough to actually mention in detail what was recommended as a tech lock. Now I know exactly what to buy if my sharpies, gaff tape and strength to securely tighten my hardware go missing.
Ive always loved this place. When I lived in Austin I would go in for small things, sticks, heads, etc. But my last time I was on tour, passing through, I was having problems with major bounce back on my kick drum batter head. So I talked to the amazing Doug Day, and we decided on adding a vent hole to the front head. I brought the drum in, and we did minor surgery to add a vent..the staff was helpful! And took time to help install the port! I paid , and got back on my way. So see these guys if youre in Austin.
Are you kiddin me? You buy your drums at this place, you get a free bowl of soup! Just ask my buddy Wang. No offense! But, Tommys OK, ya know. He always asks me, Hows your wife and my kids? One time, a guy pulled a knife on me outside of Tommys. I could tell it wasnt a professional job, though. The knife had butter on it! I get no respect at Tommys. He always tells me the same thing: Hey, Ringo, take some lessons! It aint easy bein me!

2022-07-28Why have I waited 10 years to come back here? Got a nice new hat that I’ve needed for years. Very friendly and helpful and their sense of humor is as bad as mine:^)

2017-06-10Great drum shop with nice staff. The only place that sells Black Swan drums which is why I come. Fun to get to play one since I cant afford my own. Some day! I also like their Latin percussion selection. Have a small but selective number of box drums.

2021-07-10Tommy was incredible. This is a true drum shop. We went in there for some sticks and a hardware bag and my wife walked out with a new Ludwig drum set! Rene and Tommy are great to talk to and will answer any questions you have. I highly recommend them.

2021-03-01Awesome shop with great staff and inventory. If they dont have it in stock they can order it normally for cheaper than Amazon or Sweetwater. My #1 stop for all things drumming, cant recommend enough!

2016-08-09I wont be going back there. They are real good about selling you a drum kit but the service sucks! They couldnt be bothered to order memory locks for my cymbal stands. They told me to go to the auto parts store and buy hose clamps.Every music store in town does better service than they do.
