Technicians and the people in the office do not seem to care that in this 100+ degree heat a family with young children and pets have been without AC for going on 6 days. I am a renter so I do understand the processes of having to go through my property management company before they are able to work but their lack of urgency and professionalism is very disappointing and I highly do not recommend. I have family members who have worked in HVAC for years and the work that needs to be done could have been done days ago if the technicians did their due diligence the first time around. Would give half a star if that was an option.Update: Owner reached out personally to apologize(even though alot of the issues were on property management side after further investigation) and our AC has since been serviced and fixed. Will update to 5 stars as they diligently got this situation handled just wish the person they had taking calls had more customer service training as the conversation I had with her led me to make my original post.
Our A/C went out over the weekend while we were out of town. Temperatures reached 105. We returned home Sunday to a VERY hot house. I called Toms Monday morning. Although they couldnt schedule us for Monday, they were here first thing Tuesday morning, completed the repairs and had us cooling off before noon! Fantastic!
Today April 1, 2022 Toms Mechanical sent Allan Casey to do my annual A/C maintenance on both of my units. He arrived promptly within the time window stipulated. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and thorough changing the filters and checking both units for any malfunction. He noticed that one unit had a capacitor that needed to be replaced and discussed it with me to see if I was ready to do it today. He was not pressuring me to do it now but explained that it would save me money since I would not have an additional s/c by replacing it at a later date. Allan is a great representative for Toms Mechanical. I have two homes with HVAC Units installed and maintained by Toms Mechanical. The only issue I had was scheduling the visit, they did not show up the first time I scheduled, the original woman i spoke to was quite short with me. I was under the impression that when you had a contract for service, they scheduled you. She let me know i was wrong., you have to call. The techs are very courteous, prompt and efficient.
I had our system replaced by Toms several years ago and the guys and customer service was excellent. When our daughters system finally gave up, just made one call to Toms. Once again we were super pleased with the whole process from buying to installation. Hopefully we wont have to replace them again for years to come. When that time comes, Ill call Toms.
In the first few warm days, I quickly realized my hvac was not cooling. I call Tom’s Mechanical and they were out the next day. They identified the issue and fixed the problem the next day. Thankfully, my system is now ready for those hot summer days that are on the way.
I will start with positive firstTom’s got me a good quote sooner than I could even get other companies to get back to me about needing a new system. Presented me with two options that made the most sense for our situation. Showed up as scheduled always. Were in and out and we had a new system in 5 hours on install day. Workers were polite and as quiet as they could be. Explained everything to me that I needed to know about the equipment. Overall great work.Now the negative (reason for -1 star)There was absolutely NO clean up done after the air handler install. The attic was a complete mess of trash from the install. 20+ self-tapping screws laying around on the floor up there. The hangers from the old system cut and left dangling, attached to nothing. Cut wires, zip ties, and PVC scattered about. Enough trash to fill up a 5gal bucket. OSB from where they installed a new return vent (for free, I should add) just tossed aside into the insulation. They put a foot through my OSB flooring and just tossed that aside. Did not mention this to me.Happy with the overall HVAC work but the disaster that was left in the attic is incredibly annoying and borders on disrespectful.
HVAC technician, Alan, did routine check and maintenance on my unit. As Tom’s installed and has been servicing my unit for years, all was well the time.However, I recently bought another property and asked Tom’s to come out and check the HVAC system on this property. This HVAC system had not been installed or maintained by Tom’s Mechanical.Alan, thoroughly checked out this unit at my rent property and diagnosed several things that needed redoing in the indoor unit’s condensation system. Due to Alan’s knowledge and training, he spotted these issues quickly and was able to correct them. As the unit is in the attic of the property, there was potential for water leaking from the unit into the hall ceiling inside. Having just remodeled the house, such leaks would not have been welcome.Alan has been our technician for several years. I so appreciate his diligence and attention to detail. He always takes an extra minute or two to thoroughly explain the issue and necessary repairs. This is reassuring to this retired school teacher who does not have a large income.Thank you Tom’s Mechanical for having great folks like Alan on your team!
LONG REVIEW!! Our house was built in 1999 and had a very basic Goodman AC, Coil and Heater system. We have had at least three compressors replaced and a coil over the last 18 years through our home warranty company. In September 2018, we finally decided to replace our outdoor compressors and coils. Something this expensive required prayer and research. Using Angies List, I contacted five different local DFW contractors. Since I am in sales for over 20 years, I can read through salespeople/companies really quick. To me the sales person is the face of the company and the product. Two companies didnt bother coming to the house, but chose to email their bids...bad move!Of the various companies/sales people, Kevin Kulesza with Toms Mechanical is the only salesperson who approached the sales process with sincere integrity, professionalism, expert guidance and made it clear his company has the expertise to ensure I have a great install. and support. I did my research on Toms Mechanical and I was impressed. We all see the companies advertised on TV but to me the best advertisement is satisfied customers.Steve worked with me to ensure I had the financing with Wells Fargo and we agreed on the Trane system. Kevin was so good and I trusted Toms so much that I agreed to replace my furnaces as well (an easy up sell, once trust is established)! Kevin was on vacation during a weekend and responded to my text messages that we chose his company.When the crew arrived to the install, it was amazing to watch this team with two big trucks disassemble the old system and then install the new units. Each individual were like members of the Navy Seals....each experts and very personable! I am very pleased with the work done by Toms Mechanical and highly recommend them over any other company in the Dallas Fort Worth area.By the way three companies who provided bids for my business followed up with me, after the units were installed! One company asked if it was the price that made the difference as to why I selected Toms and I said, no, it was not the price, it is the people! Thanks Kevin for an awesome job working with me from being a prospective customer to someone who has a system in production!

Michelle is an exceptional employee! She was very responsive to my circumstances with my unit leaking. So informative and professional. In addition to ensuring I was informed every step of the way she was personable and genuine. In dealing with a bad situation with my A/C, she made a bad situation better just through her communication skills and knowledge. Toms Mechanical is lucky to have her customer facing and representing the residential service team. I would hire this person in a second for her Customer Excellence!!!! Chris did an excellent job with our preventive maintenance service. He explained how our air vents were installed incorrectly by our painters and found some crossed wires from our recent new thermostat installation by our new security provider. He took the time to answer our questions and explained all the work and the result after he was done. Chris was friendly and was very professional!
I bought an annual contract with Toms to service 2 units 2 times per year. I had one AC unit replaced by another company so I wanted a partial refund since Toms wouldnt have to inspect the new unit. What I thought was a partial refund of $56 against my $245 contract was canceling the inspection on the new unit as well as the unit covered under my contract.. Also, Toms did quote replacing the unit but they wanted to install a Trane air handler unit inside the house and connect it with a Lenox unit outside the house. I asked them several times if those units were compatible. They assured me they were but when I pressed them for documentation saying the units would work together, they said they couldnt provide it. Had I not pressed for documentation, I could have had a non-functioning system.10/29/2021 update.The manager did contact me and sent a check for the unused maintenance contract - which I think is fair. Sadly, had they just honored the contract initially I would have contracted them in 2022 to service the unit they installed several years ago.
Toms Mechanical service representative, Frank, came within a half hour of the emergency call on our heating unit that was not working on the coldest day in at least 2 years. While he was not able to repair it, Frank was very professional in his analysis of the problem and told us that the unit was working fine, it was an electrical issue and that we needed to contact an electrician. We appreciated Franks honesty and professionalism. If an issue pops up again in the future, we will definitely contact Toms Mechanical, Inc. After our experience this time, we trust them to be honest and trustworthy.
Best experience with an HVAC company since I moved to Texas 11 years ago. Prompt, professional and quality work. I highly recommend Jimmy if you need your system serviced or repaired. He was awesome. If you need a new HVAC system ask for Kevin, he’ll do what’s right for your home and sell you what you need not what makes his company the most money. Both honest guys. I highly recommend this company.
Weve used Toms Mechanical for more than 25 years in 3 different houses to service our A/C and heating units. They cleared a clog in our A/C lines yesterday. Chris and Andrew were both polite, diligent and resolved the problem promptly. I highly recommend Toms Mechanical!
My AC stopped blowing cold air yesterday evening and I called Tom’s Mechanical at 8:00 am the following morning. As usual, the staff that handled my call was friendly, professional, and fast. They gave me a two hour window for when a tech would contact me. I actually received a call from the office earlier than the time specified to see if us was available earlier, which was fantastic. The tech, Erik was well dressed, professional, and friendly. He listened intently to what I was experiencing and then went to work. He came back shortly and explained in layman’s terms what the issue was and the cost associated with said repair. He made the repair quickly, tested the results and we settled up.If you need any HVAC work, I would highly recommend Tom’s Mechanical. Every time they are out, every single tech has been presentable and professional. Their office staff is always top notch and in a world where it is tough to find fair and reputable companies, Tom’s Mechanical is one of them.
Tom’s Mechanical is still the best company to me! A year later and a new AC system in my son’s townhouse today. Again I went with Tom’s Mechanical, Inc. I never seem to be disappointed by their prompt and professional service. Brian their Salesman did such a professional job in helping us pick a quality and proficient system for my son’s townhouse. Allen who came out to do our extremely delayed spring checkup previous to finding out our AC was not worth repairing was so efficient and conscientious. He was honest and professional too. I did not feel like he was going to get me to pour money into something we weren’t sure could be fixed. Thus the reason for a new unit. The three men who came out today to install our AC unit (Anthony, Brian & Chris) were on time and very respectful and hard working. They cleaned up behind themselves and were very professional. I must say I have used Tom’s Mechanical twice for an AC unit and for all my plumbing needs. Every time I have used them I was more than happy with the service I received. Tom’s Mechanical is truly a 5 star business.They were willing to quickly inspect an issue with my cooling system although i was not a regular customer. After scheduling the appointment within 24 hours of my call, their technician David arrived on time, was polite, extremely efficient and defined the problem in words i could understand. Additionally, I received a call from their office letting me know he was on his way.I have become their newest customer...and only wish they serviced electric, plumbing, home repair, and painting issues!S. Ive used Toms for many years now. They hire excellent technicians and I have always been pleased with their work. When I had bids on replacing my units, I asked a ton of questions and Brian was very patient with me. Toms competitors wanted to get in and out as fast as possible and really seemed perturbed I was asking so many detailed questions. It was easy to choose Toms.
Very good upfront prices on new units. I knew I needed them at 20.years old units. However most important is service and support.Very prompt on service calls. I could go on but they stand behind install with inspections and prompt response to any service concerns. Felt like I got priority on how quick they called back and rolled a truck.
I was a victim of the recent ( 2021 ) freeze and had a water line to my kitchen sink rupture. Getting a plumber was almost impossible. I called Toms Mechanical, and through very good time management and dispatch perfection, they were able to get to me in under 24 hours. The Plumbers who showed up were ready to fix my pipe, had all the parts they needed, did the job with one visit, were very professional, showing up in masks and booties even. They were in and out in under 20 minutes, and the call was complete with no call back required. The price was very fair, and I would HIGHLY recommend them.
Toms Mechanical has always given great service to us at Lamar Baptist! They always diagnose the problem and fix it quickly. All of the techs they have are very professional, however Anthony is the best they have at Toms. He is always courteous and knowledgeable about any issue. There has never been a problem he cannot fix. One of the best employees at Toms!
I love Toms Mechanical! I have been using them since I bought my house back 15 years ago! I have the yearly maintenance plan and it covers 1 springtime checkup and 1 winter checkup! Its so worth it! If anything goes wrong or goes out they usually can come out the next day and I get 10% off parts if needed because of the maintenance plan! They are the best as far as customer service too! Id recommend them to anyone and everyone!****UPDATE****I am having to purchase a new unit after 17 years because it finally went out. The good news is that not only did they come out that day but the manager Josh Wallace brought me a portable ac unit that I can use for a week until my unit is installed! I cant tell you what a lifesaver this is! The customer service from Frank, Kevin and Josh is TOPNOTCH! I recommend them to family and friends all the time! Hands down the best around DFW area!
I had four companies come out to my house to give me bids for an HVAC system. Kevin Kulesza, the sales rep from Toms, was the only one out of the four that sat down with me first, before looking at my system and just educated me about HVAC systems. Consequently, when the other three companies came out to my house, I was able to ask them questions, solely based on what Kevin told me. Additionally, the next week, my husband and I were sitting down, comparing all of our options and Kevin just happened to call us. He answered all of our questions. Their crew of four people showed up at our house on time. They introduced themselves and got to work. I was impressed with their work ethic and pleased with the results. I really like the thermostat that they installed. We also chose to have our ducts cleaned and installed an air purifier. Toms offers financing but I chose to use two credit cards with 18 months, zero interest and that counted as a cash sale. Thus I got a discount for that! I also got a discount for being a senior citizen and my unit qualified for a rebate! Many of my friends asked me if I went with the lowest offer. My answer was no. I went with Toms because of their reputation (many people in my neighborhood use Toms) and because Kevin was just so knowledgeable. He has been with Toms for fifteen years and that in itself says a lot about the company! I feel confident that I made the right choice.
We have used Toms Mechanical for about 1 year. We just had them come out to check our A/C system and found out we had to replace it. Even though this can be a hard and stressful process, Toms has made it smooth and stress free. Kevin came out and did all of the estimate work with us and patiently answered all questions we had. The team came out today to fix everything and all installers, Ramiro, Jesse, and Vicente are more than friendly and professional. Ramiro was who we communicated with mostly today and he was polite and thorough the entire time. Jesse walked us through the new thermostat and showed us everything there was to know about it, TOUCHSCREEN! So high tech! The whole team worked efficiently and were communicating with us all through the process. I am so glad that we have a company who is trustworthy and who we are able to rely on when things like this happen. Toms recently installed a new heat pump system for us. They completed the job on time on the date they promised. Workers were very professional and courteous. We had a minor issue after the install and they were very fast to come out and fix it. I recommend them and I feel confident using them going forward to maintain our new system.
ULTRA QUICK RESPONSE & COMPLETED AC REPAIR ON A SUNDAY EVENING! TRULY AWESOME!!Our main AC unit stop working late yesterday (after 5pm on a Sunday) it was still over 100 outside and the temperature inside was climbing rapidly. I called Tom’s Mechanical, as well as several other companies who also advertise 24/7 emergency service. Luis Gil from Tom’s Mechanical called me within a few minutes to let me know he could be there within about 45 minutes (wow).Luis arrived early (another WOW most of us don’t see from service appointments), he was dressed in a clean pressed uniform, was polite, professional and pleasant, and got right to work. He diagnosed and fixed the problem and while doing so found a capacitor that was close to failure (reading at 80% below it’s rating on the meter). I asked him to replace that as well and am certain it avoided a future outage and problem.This was as good an experience as a person can have (when the AC is out and it’s 100 outside)! I highly recommend Tom’s Mechanical and their tech Luis Gil. I will definitely be a customer of Tom’s in the future and will recommend them to my friends and neighbors....and I hope I can request Luis as my tech for future needs.PS: only one other company of the several that I called even returned my phone call and they called back while Luis from Tom’s was already packing up his truck to leave after having successfully completed the needed repairs. Needless to say I let the call go to voicemail. Hats off to Luis and Tom’s for an excellent customer experience and a job well done!!!!!!
We had an AC unit go out in August. We had 4 different companies give bids and give recommendations for the type of unit that would be best for us. A friend of mine who used to do HVAC repair work recommended Toms as a company does the installation work meticulously well. I had heard that the installation work is just as important as the unit you purchase itself . Kevin, our sales rep from Toms Mechanical was the most knowledgeable, professional and helped us make the right decision without being pressured at all. Big kudos to Kevin. The installation crew was on time and had the job done on schedule. Very pleased.
I reached out to Tom’s after 6:00 pm on a Tuesday with an emergency as part of my ceiling had given out and I was worried it had to do with my unit. I was able to talk to their after hours service within seconds who immediately sent a message out to their technician Luis Gil. Luis arrived promptly 20 minutes later with a big smile and willingness to help, within minutes he identified that the issue was my water heater and not my unit and proceeded to shut the water valve and turn off the switch to the heater in order to avoid additional damage to my ceiling. I can’t thank Luis or Tom’s enough for being there for me when I needed it most! This is an outstanding company with even more outstanding technicians! Highly recommend!
Well Tom is installed a new train air conditioner for me in 2014 and my experience was very positive at that time. Since then my new air conditioner, along with radiant barrier in the attic, has drastically decreased my electric bill, so mission accomplished. Last night I noticed it wasn’t cooling at all and I dread the thought of spending the night without air-conditioning. But it wasn’t that bad. We made it through OK. So early in the morning I called Tom’s to see if they could get someone out to take a look at it for me. I said certainly through a chat session that I had, which was very convenient and quick. The problem was they said it would probably be this afternoon before they could get someone out. So I pulled out all the fans and got them ready for a hot day. Low and behold at 10:30 AM I got a call saying Joshua was on his way. Praise the Lord. As it turned out, it was nothing but a inexpensive part that he had on him and replaced it quickly. The price was very reasonable and I was happy it wasn’t more. Joshua was great, he even laughed at my jokes. And just performed perfectly. I would suggest for anyone who is afraid of air conditioner service to call Tom’s. I don’t believe there will be disappointed. Thanks guys
Toms Mechanical always provides me with competent and timely service. They installed my Trane A/C and gas furnace seven years ago and we have maintained a service contract with them ever since. Toms is a well run company, competent, fair priced. I highly recommend. Erik performed the Fall service on our system today and he was very professional, thorough, and efficient, as usual.
Much Deserved 5 StarsFrom the very first phone call Toms set an unattainable bar. After a month of estimates I never expected the level of customer service, knowledge, efficiency and quality of product I recieved. I waited two weeks to make a review because I couldnt believe that everything could be so good. Well, 2 weeks later and the unit is working amazing and the weekly electricity usage has gone down. Trust this company, they will sell you what you need, they will arrive on time(even when you dont) and their amazing techs are knowledgeable, polite and clean up after themselves! Thank you again for a stress free experience!
Our A/C unit was 25 yrs old. It lasted so long due to Tom’s Mechanical coming out each Spring and Fall for years to do maintenance checks. Last Friday was the end of our unit. Tom’s Mechanical were out Monday morning to put in a new unit. They got it put in quickly and had us cooling down in no time. They are always friendly and professional. We highly recommend them and we won’t use anyone else for our service. Thanks Tom’s Mechanical for your great service over the years.
Our A/C unit quit working Saturday night. Tech Luis came out Sunday, checked the system out, made recommendations & then repaired the problem. He went to extra lengths to clean and service the system. The following day, I thought the unit had quit working, Tom’s Mechanical sent out Tech Eric who re-inspected the system, and found nothing wrong. The unit was simply trying to catch up with the warm temperatures in the house after having been shut off for 24 hours. Eric adjusted the fan in the outside unit for better efficiency. We were charged on Sunday for the repairs, but not the follow up apt on Monday. Both Luis & Eric were proffesional in their appearance, repair explanation, work and conduct. The unit is cooling once more and we’re happy! Thank you Tom’s Mechanical for sending qualified A/C tradesmen.
I have used Tom’s Mechanical for over 20 years. Their technicians are very competent, responsive and cautious with your home. I cannot remember a time that they did not meet their commitments on appointments, cost and service. I use their annual maintenance program and appreciate their priority service. All of their required repairs and attention to preventative maintenance/repairs is very top class.
Toms Mechanical installed my air conditioner about 10 years ago and since then I have subscribed to their program where they come every 6 months to make sure all is well with this. Their technicians who come out every 6 months are super nice and respectful. If I have any questions, they answer them, they are very efficient and are always nice to talk to. The person who answers their phone in order to make an appointment is also very nice when I call. Im glad Toms Mechanical was referred to me by a friend many years ago and I would sure recommend them.
The technician, Jimmy, did an excellent job of thoroughly checking our two A/C systems and then advising me of their conditions. We had a great experience! We didnt have heat after a cold night so we called Toms Mechanical and they were pretty fast at getting over to our house. Frank had good banter and was knowledgeable about our system. He seemed to do what was best for our family instead of just trying to get some money from us. We definitely recommend Toms Mechanical and we will use them whenever we need a new system.
The reps to book a engineer to come out do not seem interested in doing anything to help or drive business for Toms. I asked about a few services and was told their department did not handle it and was told i would have to call back instead of transferring me or helping me with what I needed. lost thousands of dollars of business because of failure to communicate
I was very impressed from start to finish with Toms Mechanical. They arrived one hour after a Saturday morning phone call and diagnosed the problem and told us the solution quickly and efficiently. Our technician Josh was superb. Although the parts had to be ordered on a Saturday, they came in on Monday and the house was cool by Monday afternoon. The schedulers and Josh were great. They were quick to get to my house, did what they said they were going to do, and their follow through was exceptional. I hope I dont need any HVAC work in the future, but if I do, it will certainly be with Toms.
One of our A/C systems stopped working. As we were shopping to replace it we had a death in the family. We knew this would be a problem as parts and supplies for an A/C replacement are taking longer than normal. One of the quotes we received was from Brian at Toms. When we followed up and explained the situation he reached out to another client and was able to get us an new A/C installed in a couple days. I cant say how much my family and I appreciated Brians kindness and efforts to help at such a critical time.A big thanks to the other client as well who was willing to wait a bit longer for us.
I can not recommend the team at Toms Mechanical enough. Of the multiple bids I received on a full HVAC replacement, Toms was the only company that went up in to my attic to inspect the ducting. Additionally, Kylar Rutledge was more than gracious with me and all my questions, calls and scheduling appointments and follow ups. We had a challenging system to replace in an older home and Kylar and the whole Toms team worked with a sense of purpose and such professionalism on the install. The entire team wore masks through every visit and the entire install and took all precautionary measures to keep both themselves and my family safe during these crazy pandemic times. Toms Mechanics was able to send a technician to our house in record time. The tech, David, arrived with a mask, gloves and booties, respecting both the Covid guidelines and our house, and was genuinely fantastic! He entered our sweltering attic, performed gymnastics to climb over the duct work, and fixed our problem. David then took the time to discuss the repair of the fallout inside the house. Toms did a great job installing our system and came out two times over a 4 month period to troubleshoot our complaints about some unusual noises that ultimately were not related to the new system at all. They were prompt, never charged us for the troubleshooting calls and had a very good, helpful attitude.
Luis came out and repaired a AC unit PVC drain pipe damaged with the recent freezing weather. He also unclogged the pipes for both the up stairs and down stairs units, added protective cutoff power switches to the drains should they backup in the future, and performed maintenance on both AC units. Luis worked long and efficiently and did an excellent job and I highly recommend him and Toms Mechanical for anybodys HVAC work.
I was very impressed with the level of service we received from Toms Mechanical. Our air conditioner went out and we had our first technician with another company tell us it was going to cost almost $8,000 to fix. Jimmy Hixon (Toms technician) was able to honestly diagnose the problem and it only cost us about $800. It will extend the life of our air conditioner at least a few more years. Jimmy deserves compliments and a nice raise. We will be using them moving forward for sure.

I had had 2 other AC companies out before Toms and both told me that it would be a new unit the only thing that made me get the last input from Toms was the fact that they told me everything was busted. The motor the compressor and the capacitor this system worked just fine until 2 days before that so it was a bit suspect that it all just break at the same time. Toms came out and within 15 minutes told me what was wrong and got me an estimate which was thousands of dollars cheaper and got my ac working in 2 hours. What really struck me was the honesty after the other 2 companies lied.
I wanted to provide feedback I received after posting a 1 star review. The owner of Toms called me and apologized for the miscommunication. He stated this was corrected immediately upon reading my post. He was truly sincere in the apology and cares about his business and their customers. With all the businesses Ive dealt over the years I have never met an owner or manager that takes this much pride in their business to include their employees and customers. I only wish I was within the service area of Toms because between the reviews I read previously and talking to the owner I would definitely use them. Tom’s Mechanical is my go-to company for the care of my A/C and Heaters and I highly recommend them. My units are just a few years old, but when lightning struck the Oncor transformer nearby last year, my equipment took the brunt of the damage during Oncor’s repairs. I needed the units checked out and diagnosed as to what damage was done. After researching and asking friends for service provider recommendations, I engaged Tom’s Mechanical. Responsive, very knowledgeable and efficient, from Michelle in the office to Frank and the guys doing the work, we have been pleased with them all. A/C shutdown at midnight, fortunately I started the search for service repair immediately. It’s reaching 106 degrees next day! Tom’s Mechanical had an overnight call service, the mechanic on duty was quick to respond. He was booked till the morning, not a surprise. Nonetheless he was still friendly the entire call; advised me that a company rep would call 8 a.m. to set an appointment. By morning, the company did call me to set an appt, I was given 3 options with 2-hr windows. The tech that arrived was in a professional vehicle, professional outfit, on time, tools & attitude ready to help. He inquired into the A/C history and details of machine before it quit. The capacitor was replaced, after explanation & my permission first. Additional optional service was offered, absolutely No pressure techniques. Based upon our experience & home needs, we agreed to a maintenance contract, which is affordable and useful to our situation. A diagnostic charge approx.$75 is required, in addition to labor and parts. All costs are discussed prior to service. Discounts may be applicable. Well-written receipt provided, with explanations, detailed cost structure. A magnetic business card was provided as well. No mess left behind, our outdoor A/C unit was also thoroughly cleaned too.
Luis was great - clearly very honest and knew what he was doing. Took the time to explain everything clearly so we knew what our options were and could make a good decision. We appreciated that he was not trying to hard sell us. Our old company is now out of business- we are delighted to find a new company and new service tech we can trust!

We have been a member of their service contract providing discounted seasonal checkups and needed repairs and parts for our units (3) two times per year insuring they are running as designed and safely. We had a new HVAC system installed June 2018. Weve used Toms before and always found them professional and great to work with. While we did shop around, Toms made us feel comfortable. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the regular maintenance of the new system.

Toms Mechanical has serviced my HVAC unit(s) for decades. I have renewed my annual service contract with them and have always enjoyed prompt and professional attention to any problems that have arisen in addition to regular maintenance service. On Friday, the technician came out immediately to assess my non-functioning AC system and fully described the problem(s). He promptly returned with Kevin Kulesza on Monday morning for a complete assessmen and presentation of options available to me. For many years, all of my interactions with Toms Mechanical have been prompt and professional. I trust them completely and would highly recommend them to service and/or repair anyones system.
Called Toms back in February for heating problem. Their technician came right on time and diagnosed the air handler fan motor being dead. The first fan motor installed was defective and only ran for an hour. While the tech was still here it quit. They didnt have any of the same model in stock at the shop, so it was the next day before they received one from the warehouse. The tech installed the motor and everything worked great. Fast forward to late August. The air handler began making noise and after one day the system quit. We called Toms on the weekend and within a few minutes their tech Kylar called back. He came within an hour and determined that the motor had slipped from its housing bracket. He had a replacement motor on his truck and within 90 minutes we were cooling the house again. The replacement motor was covered by their warranty. Its refreshing to find a service company that comes when they are scheduled and that stands behind their equipment and work.
David, the Technician, arrive precisely at the time I had an appointment for. He diagnosed my problem of no air blowing. He showed me pictures of what needed service. I rarely write reviews but in the case of impeccable service I must let everyone know that Toms is absolutely outstanding!! Needing to replace an HVAC unit can be stressful and sometimes confusing...not to mention very expensive!! After a few estimates, it was immediately an easy decision to choose Toms because of the warmth and comfort we felt. They were extremely knowledgeable and explained everything in detail as to what we needed. They didnt suggest a bigger unit or add on any bells and whistles just looking to make an extra buck. They explained what our home needed to function at the utmost efficiency and to lower electric costs! Tweaking our new very smart thermostat was a breeze by phone, so that if future adjustments are needed, we have the knowledge and understanding and we wont make mistakes again. Was very pleased I was able to get an appointment on the weekend. The technician showed up about an hour prior to the appointment. He as able to diagnose and restore my air conditioning system to a working state in about 30 minutes. He was knowledgeable, answered several additional questions I had and very courteous. While they are not the cheapest heat and a/c company around, I use them because I appreciate that they respect my time and keep my units running well with a minimum of hassle. Tom’s Mechanical installed my last system 17 years ago and in that time I only had three failures (of course I do perform routine maintenance annually). However, due to a sudden freon leak and the age of the system it was due for replacement.They recommended I replace my all electric unit with a heat pump which should dramatically lower my utility bills I hear. They also recommended some minor ductwork modifications.Very happy to report the installation went very smooth and with the last several mornings being in the low 20’s my new system is heating the house faster than it ever has and just feels more comfortable all around. The ductwork improvements have made a tremendous difference. I appreciated the installation teams politeness, laying drop cloths down everywhere, and the way they cleaned up after themselves. Erik was very professional, he came to clean my evaporator coils and did just that and did it well. I also deal with a home warranty company for servicing and I chose to call Toms and pay for it rather than deal with the poor service from my warranty company. Had to call in Toms to fix my AC after another company came out 3 times and each time claim they fixed the problem. we called Toms around midnight and they sent someone to out home within 45 mins and got the AC unit up and fixed and the problem the other company allegedly fixed. would recommend Toms, very professional and prompt service.
Lost my A/C on Sunday. Got up to 82 in my house. Called Tom’s Mechanical who services my unit. They sent a very nice repairman, Eric Soto. He was here in less than 30 minutes & found the problem...a blown capacitor. Replaced it & checked all outlets to restore cool air. Whew...5 stars for sure!!!!
We called Toms after hours to complete our repair (after poor service over 12 days and 3 failed visits from another company). Kylan was thorough, upfront, and fixed our system. While we were hot, frustrated, and cranky, Kylan was patient, pleasant and VERY helpful. I will no longer go through the pain of a ridiculously circular home warranty, I will call Toms first.
Eric Shrier was called out to my house by my realty company because the air conditioner was not working when we moved in. He called ahead and let me know the time he would be arriving and showed up when he said he would. He was very polite and knowledgeable. He took his time trying to track down all the issues with my system so I wouldnt have any more surprises while moving boxes into my new home. Found multiple issues and was able to get me up and cooling in a very short time. Repairs will have to be made to the system but as for now my house is cooling. I would recommend him for anyone looking for a honest and hard working individual.

Luis was the tech that came out. Was very thorough and saved me from having to buy a new circuit board. Explained the diagnostic process step by step. Other companies I am sure would have gouged me for a new circuit board. Luis was able to get me up and going with a wire repair. We had a problem with our heat pump. Kevin Kulesva came to checkout our system. Kevin was professional, friendly and did a great job checking our system. It turned out the system we had was too small for the size of or home and we needed an additional vent and cold air return installed. The installers Vincente, Raul, Purma, Salvadore and Justin did an awesome job installing the system, vents and cold air return. They cleaned up every piece of debris before they left. When they returned the day after the install for a checkup, they found a problem with something in the air handler and placed a rush order on the part and installed it the day it arrived. I would recommend this crew to everyone. Thank you Kevin and crew for your expertise and professionalism.
Arrived at work this morning at 0515 only to find my AC had quietly died during the night. Being a Texan I expect heat outside but Lord knows I love it inside. After a quick call to Toms Mechanical a technician was dispatched. Now to wait. NOPE this guy had cold air blowing within minutes. Its been about 20 minutes and its cold enough for me to take a nap (if I was to take a nap) In any event, prompt courteous, professional service at its very best. Have been a customer since this year 2017. During my fall check up for our HVAC, they discovered some duct work issues. They came back out to evaluate these issues free of charge. Turned out they recommended several small changes and did them without charge. So happy to work with a company that does not push unneeded work. Look forward to working with them again.
I am a professional realtor and Investor. I was recently having problems with my HVAC unit. This property was my personal residence where I currently live I had my preferred HVAC company come out and look at my unit let me remind you the company I had to come has done over 10 new HVAC units for me with my investment homes. Unfortunately they told me I needed a new HVAC system and there was no way around it. Being in the business even though I trusted this company my policy was to get two more opinions. The second company that came out said I needed the same thing! I was very frustrated and I found this company online TOMS Mechanical and let me tell you they sent a technician named LUIS GIL And this young man blew me away he was at my house for several hours coming up with different solutions he went above and beyond my expectations and was able to fix my unit I am sitting in my house in the hot August Mark with cool AC he was very honest and you really do not find that nowadays I am very thankful for this company and the technician that came out they did a hell of a job! Happy to have an OPTIHOME!In November we contacted Tom’s Mechanical for help in making our home more comfortable and energy efficient. I work from home and have dealt with imbalanced temperatures in our home/office for 34 years! Our plan was to replace all of our drafty, 39 year old windows and then have Tom’s reinforce our attic insulation.Expecting to only add some insulation, we were immediately impressed with Tom’s Optihome method to identify and solve our home’s weak spots. Brian and Kylar from Tom’s offered to test our home for leaks before and after windows were replaced, to offer a comparison between replacing windows and their Optihome work.Windows were replaced first. Then Tom’s removed all of our old, dusty, rodent-infested attic insulation. This allowed them to find air leaks and holes from our attic into our home that we couldn’t believe! All of the leaks were sealed, including 19 recessed lights. Then new insulation was installed. The crew was courteous and professional and got the job done on time and with no surprises.We were blown away by the results! As expected, we made some improvement to our home’s draftiness/air leaks by replacing 24 windows. In contrast, sealing our attic immediately made our house feel more cozy and comfortable! Temperatures feel balanced around the house and our heater is enjoying some time off. When it finally came time to replace it after the epic heat wave of 18, the team gave us a great quote on an A/C, and had everything ready in a week. The team was professional, courteous, and efficient.
I called this morning after my air conditioning unit started blowing hot air yesterday evening. The service technician, David Compton, came very quickly and fixed my problem quickly and efficiently. Mr. Compton was very professional, very helpful, and took care of the problem right away. I will ask for him in the future!
We have been Tom’s Mechanical customers for years and called them to see what options were available to remove allergens from the air in our home. Kylar suggested installing Reme Halo and Trane CleanEffects filtration systems on our existing units. The crew Tom’s sent out was quick and professional. We have noticed a big difference in the air quality running the new system over the standard 1-inch filters that were previously installed.

We needed a licensed contractor to come out and inspect the AC units in order to call in the final inspection from the city.The general contractor we had hired was doing illegal activities and had to be let go. I took over as the GM though unfortunately we did not have access to the previous mechanical engineer who had did the initial installation. The city said we needed to hire another contractor, have them do the inspection, and call in the final inspection. And that is why we had called Toms.I explained this to Nichole who, at first was confused by the situation, though after further explanation said they could do this. I had them out, they inspected the AC units which were in top condition (since they were new) and then went on their way. The gentlemen that came out was friendly and helpful.I called back to get this final inspection done which Dee Dee said they were unable to do. I explained that I was told they could take care of it however said, sorry, we cant do this. This was the whole point of having them out!Now Im out $375.00 for something they said they were going to do but decided they couldnt. If you say youre going to do something, then do it. Otherwise I would never have bought this service.Being lied to is not a good feeling. Nor is a good business practice.
In 1984 I started working for Toms Mechanical in Arlington Texas. A family owned & operated company dating back to the 50s. I enjoyed knowing Tom & Scott Chandler who started putting in the Top Trane & Lennox systems both Commercial & Residential. To this day I still use the very best HVAC Metroplex co. around. My 18 year old Trane XL1800 Heat Pump System is running like NEW thanks to Toms. Mr. Rich Ashton is still running the company perfectly. Make sure to have a PSA Planned Service Agreement to keep your system like new.
Maybe this is more geared towards the new Trane unit that was installed then Toms, but I have no way to hold Trane accountable for my experience so their authorized dealer is the fall guy. I did think the install job was pretty poor. They brought out the wrong condenser unit which I had to point out. After they were done installing the unit I inspected their work on the air handler and there was air blasting out all the duct work joints and the air handler door. If I didnt inspect it they would have left it as-is. The air handler leaked air like a lawn blower. The sales person for Toms did make several trips out to inspect it and agreed there was something seriously wrong with it but couldnt get his Trane reps to do anything about it. My brand new air handler had to be taped up like some white trash rig job. Of course the tape keep coming off which causes it to air condition the attic. Now the fan on the condenser fan stopped working in the middle of our coldest weather after only 8 months. I have to say shame on them for selling a product that the sales person admitted Trane doesnt stand by their product anymore and customers complain about similar issues all the time.
Eric came on 11/19/2015 at midday and performed the fall inspection of the heating unit and replaced the filter. In addition, he noticed a separation of the dryer vent and reconnected it. He noticed that the heating/air conditioning duct heading towards the far end of the house was sagging and adjusted the sag in the line by using the existing hangers. We were pleased with his work.

I called Toms to repair an A/C unit they installed a couple of months ago. I figured when I called I would be told they could come out next week between 8am and 5 pm. you know the routine.SO I called at 8:00, service answered the phone I told them what i needed and they said they would call me back with a time a date.5 minutes later Toms calls back and said someone is on the way NOW to come fix it.WHO DOES THAT? Comes out the same day? The repairman was out in less than 30 minutes to fix the unitI am Amazed
Jimmy found the trouble,needed a part for a very old unit. found it! Office sent Eric at 4:45 On Friday who cheerfully installed new parts. My air conditioner works! Temp down from 86 to 75 very soon. Thank you so much for all your efforts to get this fixed before the weekend.
We first hired Toms Mechanical many years back when we discovered that to do the remodeling on the kitchen side of the house that we wanted the AC unit in the Attic had to be moved and while we were at it multiple ducts replaced... their wotk was the best of that experience, listening carefully, measuring correctly, and producing exactly the work required the very first try ... so we engaged them for a maintenance contract on both units and theyve kept them in top condition. Now that it was time to replace both units to new code freon and high SEER we took several bids and Toms guy was not only the most thorough and professional but bid the highest quality systems at the best price ... AND ...consulted appropriately about duct ckeaning, air sctubbers, insulation upgrade, etc. and helped arrange affordable financing. Today they sent two full crews who arrived promptly at the scheduled time, worked efficie ntly and even cheerfully, fired up both systemp without a hitch, programmed the WiFi accessible home contrller hub lickety split, cleaned up thoroughly and departed just as my wife got home from work. I can imagine neither a more satisfying outcome nor a more pleasant process. Take it from me, a high-tech curmudgeonly septuagenarian -- if you need new A/C stuff you REALLY need to call Toms Mechanical....

2021-07-17Decided to replace 21 year old (2 zone) system last April and got 3 bids ... worked with Kevin to navigate all of the many variables needed to make a good decision and finally decided to replace everything including zoning system, ducts, and all mechanicals. He got me well informed on value of installing a two stage compressor for great energy efficiency and worked with me for a final quote that met all of my needs. Kevin was very communicative throughout install process and sent the install foreman out in advance to review the complex job. They put four installers on the job and were completed in two days. This new system performance has exceeded all of my expectations ... my house is much cooler and my energy bill has been significantly reduced. These guys at Toms are All Pro.

2022-04-26I had an unexpected bathroom flood so I called Toms Mechanical and they sent someone right out. Andrew was very professional, knowledgeable and kept me informed about what he was doing and expected costs beforehand.He cleaned everything up after he was finished. Another person was needed for a second part of the job and he also was very professional and courteous.I highly recommend this company.

2022-05-16The technician arrived when expected to diagnose the problem with my AC and immediately saw that the fan on the compressor was not working. He checked the capacitor and it was bad so after advising me of the cost to replace it, which I approved, he replace the capacitor and turned the unit back on and the fan started working. Cool air started coming through the air vents and in the time it took him to write up the invoice, the temp in my house had already dropped a degree.So glad I called a reputable company first instead of my home warranty company. Tom’s Mechanical got here faster, the price was within my budget and I have cool air again. Thanks, Tom’s!!

2022-05-13A/C wasn’t cooling and outside condenser wasn’t spinning. I was able to online chat with Tom’s Mechanical after hours and within the hour a service technician had responded and arrived at my home. Upon inspection he found a capacitor had gone bad and was quickly replaced. His knowledge and customer service are exactly what turned a warm evening into a cool relaxing sleep. I will be using them again.

2022-07-11After being disappointed with other HVAC companies, we decided to give Toms Mechanical a try and signed up for their Spring/Fall Service Maintenance agreement. Daryl (one of their technicians) arrived this morning, on time, and did an outstanding job of inspecting our entire system! He took the time to thoroughly inspect every component of our system, both up in the attic, and the outside unit! During his inspection he discovered that our AC compressor start capacitor reading was lower than the specification. I requested for him to go ahead and replace it as these things (from our experience) usually always fail late on a Friday night! Daryl was very professional and I could tell he was very knowledgeable and knew what he was doing! My wife and I were very impressed with Toms Mechanical, their scheduler, Christina, and of course technician Daryl! Highly recommend!!!

2022-07-29The repair man, Mark was polite, efficient and thorough. He fully explained and fixed the problem. He then checked that the freon was adequate. He was honest and explained that my system was fixed but he did warn me that the capacitor was in poor shape. My unit is so old that they dont make parts for it anymore. He was able to give me 2 quotes for replacement systems before he left.

He offered 2 quotes for the work needed on our system, and he wasnt pushy or didnt make us feel like we had to make a decision today.Kris answered all my questions without hesitation, and when he did answer our questions, he did not make us feel like we asked a dumb question.We have 2 quotes to review in order to determine how to proceed, and we look forward to working with Kris and Toms Mechanical here in the near future.
