Atmosphere:From the outside it doesnt look like much and has a rustic look to it, but once inside there are 3 different sections, each with their own look. There is a lot of vintage and rustic memorabilia on the walls, as well as the outside of the establishment.Service:Once I saw the menu on the wall and asked for recommendations, the cashier told me the one to get The Superman and upon looking at what was in it I was sold. She was extremely helpful and even reiterated my order to ensure everything was correct. After sitting down for a couple of minutes I heard the order number from a distance, went to the counter and was presented my meal along with cook telling me what was on my plate.Quality:Bringing the food back to the table, I can see why they are called Top of the Hill - Greasy Burgers. The bun was so shiny and burger looked like it had a shine to it as well. I was worried I would be tasting grease, but I was wrong. With The Superman it came with 2 beef patties, 2 slices of cheese, jalapenos and bacon and the flavor was amazing. As for a side to compliment the burger I ordered the garlic fries and they had a great flavor to them and just the right amount of crispiness 👌Overall I would highly recommend going to try the burger once, but be sure to have a good amount of time to spend, due to it being somewhat of a drive. The only thing I would have liked is to have a paper menu at the counter to see what each of the other burgers included.
The best burger Ive ever had, hands down. Its not even a contest. Its juicy, its greasy, its amazing! We drove in from Cut and Shoot and after two hours in the car Im happy to say WORTH IT!The buns were light and perfect for soaking in the juice from the burger. The juice and the mayo kind of mix together to make everything extra delicious The lettuce, tomatoes and onions were fresh, cool and ripe. And the hamburger was fresh, rich and tasty! The service outstanding. I loved the old fashioned Texas warmth and charm that our part of Texas is quickly losing. Couldnt be happier right now with my full yummy!
Really cozy place with great food. It is also a small convenience store so you can grab whatever else you might need. The fries and tots are great but the burger is enough because they are filling! I honestly doubt Ill be able to work the rest of the day and I know for sure I wont need to eat. The staff is very friendly. I recommend stopping by this place.
Trust me this is one of those places out in the middle of nowhere and its worth the drive if you love a greasy hamburger and good country fries theyre loaded country fries with all the toppings cheese and bacon, jalapenos, ranch dressing is ridiculously good! Youll see people coming in and out in and out and I went at a slow time of the day and the food was just as good. Im actually going to go out on a record here and say this was the best hamburger I ever ate! I got a bacon cheeseburger and I also asked for their habanero sauce on the side which I put on there which is their own sauce and man is it good! If you like spicy is definitely worth the try.
Located a little over a mile off of Hwy6/OSR on the west side of Bryan, this place offers killer burgers and even more amazing fries! The burgers come out piping hot, well seasoned and well appointed. The bacon cheeseburger is great just the way it is and doesnt require adding salt, pepper or anything else. The fries are super crispy. They also have another killer item on the menu... CFS (Chicken Fried Steak) and they make CFS Fries (a bed of crispy fries with chopped CFS on top smothered with cream gravy).
DELICIOUS. My husband had never been and I had never had a fresh burger. They did not disappoint. Meat and bun were perfect and the toppings were crisp and delicious. My husband got the garlic fries as a little something extra. I wish I had gotten a picture but we ate it too quick! They request you wear a mask at the counter and then take it off when you get to your table, which I think makes it that much better!! So so good and the people are great!!
Honestly gonna come here to just order the buns 😅 soft, buttered, and toastedSweet heat burger melted in my mouth and fries had a decent amount of Lawrys seasoning to spice things upWent on Saturday around noon and wasnt too busy. Highly recommend if you want a high quality homemade burger
I waited a little over an hour to get 2 burgers and 2 orders of fries. There was a big order ahead of mine which is fine but 2 orders that were placed AFTER mine (at least 5 burgers) were called before mine. The fries were probably cooked well before the burger because they were stale and cold. This visit was a shocking decline of quality and timeliness compared to my previous visits.
Best Burger Ever!! I like the Hot and Cheesy with nothing but grilled onions, jalapenos and Habanero sauce and of course the cheese. Be sure to make it a combo with fries, Sasparilla for the drink and for dippin get you a habanero sauce and a habanero ranch sauce. The Bacon jack burger all the way is great also. Its all good, even the salad according to my healthy co-worker, lol. If you passing by, its definitely worth the couple of miles detour off of hwy 6, yall enjoy!!
We got the Hot D@mn Fries, the double cheeseburger, and the strawberry cream soda. It was all sooooo good. If you dont like sweet sweet SWEET drinks I wouldnt get the strawberry cream soda but I thought it was good. The cheeseburger was good as well, but the real show stopper was those fries!! One is definitely big enough for 2 people to share. The people are so friendly, we hadnt been there before and were kind of looking around like lost baby ducks and the man working the window called us over and explained what some of their food was. He was super kind, which is great for people who are really shy like us! There is only outside seating right now, and you do have to wear a mask while ordering but they dont seem to mind if you walk around without one on, as long as you dont come up to the window. They have adorable signs everywhere with cute and funny sayings. Well definitely be going back for more eventually!
Family owned and operated local small business. More a grocery store than a burger joint, but they are REALLY fresh, high quality burgers, (chef and food scientist here. BEING CASH TO TIP) and really a community hub with abundant outdoor seating. Got to talk shop with the owner a bit about operations, how corona has affected business, and such, and made me feel like I was a regular, though it was only my second time there.
Nice little burger joint in the middle of nowhere. I love the sound of that.A short drive through the country and just as promised, it was right at the top of the hill...!Burgers were good. I love meat so I got a double with bacon and cheese.I could have eaten a four patty!Though delicious, the hamburger meat was a little flat. Dont get me wrong, they packed the burger with grease and flavor! They have their own brand of sodas at the fountain, too.If youre picky, go for the canned soda selection or grab a cold beer. They only had a few flavors that were a little different, but tasty. All in all, I would gladly come back!Chili cheese fries RULE!
Went here last month for the first time. Had heard nothing but amazing things about it. We ordered 3 burgers, 2 with chili, one order of fries, and 2 cups of water and the total was $50 and some change. We didnt order anything crazy, like triple meat or extra cheese or anything. My bf paid and he didnt question it. Place was pretty busy and after maybe 10 minutes of waiting an employee came out and apologized bc they were out of chili. He said he would refund us the difference and came back with something like $22. He didnt say if we were incorrectly charged or anything, which I assume we were overcharged since theres no way that chili on 2 burgers is $22.I would normally rate lower for something like this, especially since I thought my burger was good but nothing superb, BUT the staff was really nice and my daughter LOVED her burger and the fries were pretty good.We might give it another try at some point.
Best burger place ever... Me and my friend went here and got 6 burgers and some fries. 4 of these burgers were the best burger Ive ever had.... Thats right my whole top 5 got nearly wiped out. Its better than burger mojo, any fast food place, Koppe, all of em. Also the fries were some of the best I ever had too. I got garlic fries, nothing special, but they were cooked so perfect and the ranch that came with it was really good too. All of the burgers were amazing I got a Hot Mess, very good it was similar to a smothered burrito... The lil cheeseburger, also very good and well priced too. And the brisket burger... Let me be clear... I dont really like bbq burgers (picky about meat, and often too little or too much bbq). This thing was one of the best burgers Ive ever had it was perfect. My friend got the Chile Burger, breakfast burger, and something spicy I wanna say sweet heat or something like that. Anyways I tried them all also and they were great I cant stress enough how good this place is.. rip the new years resolution
Tried this place a year ago and ordered the Mesquite Burger. When I got the burger it was swimming in BBQ sauce so bad that was all u could taste. The menu didn’t say it was with BBQ sauce just Mesquite Burger. I was expecting a seasoned Mesquite flavor burger. I called the owners to let them know about my experience and they acted as it I wanted another burger for FREE and that was the words out of their mouth. I told them no but I did expect a burger not to be nothing but a bottle of sweet BBQ sauce. Rude and no customer service. I would not recommend this place. Most hole in the wall shacks are nice down to earth but not this one.
Good old fashioned burger. Not afraid of grease, well seasoned, multiple party options. Super man made it the Texas Bucket List! Garlic fries are great! They support local business like Boots which is always a plus. Staff is very friendly! Recommended and will definitely be returning!
Came in to town from DFW today to visit my family and my sister suggested this place. Its a bit out of the way but definitely worth the drive out there. My Dad and I both had cheeseburgers with tator tots and man, they were GREAT!! Sodas come in a can so you may just want to get two if you are a big soda drinker. While the food is great, what sealed the deal for me to come back was the customer service....both people I spoke with were awesome. Ill definitely be back! 9/29/2020
I used to work at Axis, right down the road. Our boss took us here one day and said that we’ve never had such a good burger. Only once have I had a burger better than this one and I’ve eaten a million burgers all over the state! Sure, it’s greasy but that doesn’t necessarily equal ‘great’. It’s the flavor of the meat, the spices, even the atmosphere of the seedy little store that it’s in. The last time I was there was on a rainy Saturday afternoon- very quiet, cool weather, wet and dreary and the burger was delicious enough to make the day 100x better!
Finally, a great burger! The selection had some interesting burgers, and the fries! Yum. Crispy on the outside and served hot!My bun was soft, yet toasted to perfection. The patty was cooked just right and juicy. The veggies were crisp and fresh. I had a regular burger. I also selected the garlic fries, which were delish. My niece had the jalapeno cheese burger. She doesnt usually finish a burger, but this one was gone! She ordered the cheese fries.Heres the only reason I gave a 4. The waitress got her fries wrong and didnt include the cheese. Also, though my niece liked it, the cheese looked like processed, maybe like the nacho cheese? The drink selection was kinda cool. I tried a weird soda - coconut flavored. Not a fan, but that is a personal thing. The photos dont do the food justice. We plan to go back, so it is a thumbs up from me.
All three in my party ordered burger combos around 5:15 pm on a Tuesday. The staff at the counter were cordial, but not over-friendly. The three of us ordered burger combos. Our order came within ten minutes. The steak fries were hot and crispy, burgers hot, fresh, and conveniently wrapped. After reading all the reviews, I really wanted to like the place. However, the burger patties were a little dry and over-cooked. They had been completely covered in course-ground pepper, which took away from the beef flavor. Ketchup from a squirt bottle would be alot more convenient than having to open so many little packets. The fountain drinks are more of a generic type, but they will let you get a can from the cooler. Im not real sure we would drive 20 minutes again to eat here when there are a couple similar places near to us in College Station.
If you want a run of the mill authentic burger and meal experience. Do not come here. Top of the Hill is where you go for the Good Burger Gospel! Tasty, filling, and awe-inspiring.All that aside. If you want a great selection of awesome burgers for every member in your family. Top of the Hill has you covered. Our favorites are The Hulk, with triple patty and Jalapenos as the staple. Also, the burger baskets for the chitlens.Dont forget to get some of that tasty beverage fun as well along with the french fry seasoning that is divine. :)
Great burgers! So many choices, something for everyone as long as they are carnivores. A little burger for my wife, a cheeseburger (probably 1/3 lb) for me, and a Hulk (3 patties, loaded burger) for our son. We got tots which were very good, my wife said the tots are better than the fries.
First and foremost, do not get discouraged by the number of cars outside. Thats a good thing. I have never been disappointed by any of the food or service in the 12+ years Ive been going here. My absolute favorite burger! The soda fountain has some good selections and flavors, not your typical Coke or Pepsi products but more of a throwback to the old fashioned soda shops. You can still grab a can or bottle of the big brand stuff. After all, it is still a store. Just happens to have the best damn burgers youll ever eat, cooked and served by the best damn people youll ever meet!
My burger was definitely greasy lol. The bun was really delicious. The hamburger patty could use a little more seasoning. I couldnt really taste the cheese or the bacon. The vegetables were fresh. Overall I really enjoyed it. However if I stop there again I will make sure I have time to eat it there. It was difficult to eat while driving. I tried the orange creamsicle fountain drink. It wasnt very sweet. I will get a can soda or beer next time. Really friendly people and definitely unique place. I will probably be back if I am in the area again.
We drove right past this place, then realized it was the burger joint we had seen on Texas Bucket List. A quick u-turn, and we found a parking lot full of pickups that told us we were in the right place. They were winding down from lunch so we didnt have to wait long for our greasy burgers. For sure this is a home style burger, cooked to perfection and nestled in a bed of fresh cut veggies. Heaven on a bun!
The burger here was quite good, and the fries were average. The service was average I’d say, not exactly great. I came at “rush hour” on a Friday night and waited about 45 minutes for my food. I wouldn’t recommend coming on a Friday or Saturday night just because of the wait.
Top of the hill is exactly what they say it is...greasy hamburgers. But with that said they are super good. Nothing fancy about this place. Just good eating and straight up food. The staff was spot on and friendly. The food hot and tasty. Location is a bit out of the way but its worth the effort to get there. Come early since they close early.
This place had good reviews so we thought we would try it out. From town its a bit of a long drive. When you get there its kind of difficult to see which place is the restaurant and what belongs to the place next door. The atmosphere was nice, the staff wasnt overly nice but wasnt rude either. The food came out nice and hot but the taste just wasnt there for anyone in our group. They way overseason the patties. We probably wouldnt go back simply due to how far out the restaurant.
Best Breakfast burger in the area. Probably anywhere. Last time I ate the HOT MESS. It was awesome. So I needed to try a different one this time, and I want disappointed. The Aggies beat Mississippi and we had great comfort food. Thanks TOTH-GB for the great food and even better service!
The name says it all...greasy burgers at the top of the hill! A back-country gem tucked off the beaten path, Top of the Hill is a no-frills burger joint that did not disappoint. A cheeseburger and fries was more than filling, but there are even bigger options if youre feeling extra hungry. If youre ever near the RELLIS Campus or College Station, take the time to visit Top of the Hill!
Great, large burger just the way you want it. And great fries, too. Hot dog, corn dog, tater tots for the kids. Friendly folks run this place. A few tables and picnic tables in 3 rooms, all with AC. Limited grocery items too. Well be back for burgers next time through.
I was going to eat in the truck bit decided to get off & check it out. Boy, am I glad I did. The biggest burger Ive ever seen. I had to fb,Snapchat, Instagram that burger & fries lol. I even needed a To go box cause I couldnt finish it. Ive been living in this area & never even heard of this hidden treasure. Oh, & the people who work there are super friendly.
If u DONT like hamburgers probably a liberal vegan ( not sure) BUT IF you do PASS by or through Aggie Land and surrounding area then DO NOT PASS THIS UP!!! IT WOULD BE A SIN!!!! Ill drive 50miles for this place and Im picky SOG!(SON OF A GUN FOR YOU VEGAN LIBS) I aint leaving a picture just go and see!

2021-10-30Learned about this place from the Texas Bucket List and it did not disappoint. This was one if the best Burgers Ive ever had in my entire life. Just a good traditional burger with lots of flavor. The chopped steak fries were also very good with some nice flavorful brown gravy and onions. If youre in the area you must stop!

2021-12-07When I saw this place in Bryan I thought how could I go wrong with greasy burger in the name. I wasnt disappointed. Their double meat cheeseburger was perfectly greasy, like a hamburger should be. Great taste. The vegetables on it were fresh. The employees there were friendly, like this was our 100th time to eat there. Its on the outside of Bryan but its worth it and better than a fast food place.

2022-04-30This place should have 10 stars. We have been coming here for about 10+ years and it hasnt failed us yet.We can remember when the menu was small, had the pool table and no outside seating. Even had our oldest boy do the burger challenge. Yes they did that!Good down home feel, down homewelcome, and outstanding service. Highly recommended

2021-08-14The BEST burgers in Texas! The only complaint I have is their hours. They’re open 9am-4pm most days which severely limits how often I can visit.

2022-06-27I ordered a double meat double chz. Not bad. Not the best burger Ive had by no means. It definitely lives up to the greasy burger description though. This is a.classic American hole.in the wall burger joint.if anyone happens to be near the area the place itself is worth the stop to watch black and white western movies and look at old nostalgia while you wait for your

2020-12-19One word...Amazing. We travel all over Texas eating burgers and boy did we find an amazing one. Everything was perfect from the bun to the meat. The fries are absolutely delicious and cooked perfect. We drove over 2 hours for this and it was well worth it. We definitely will be back.

2021-06-231st off just wow. This place is so dangerous. I wanted to see if they offered some sort of daily meal plan so I could grab a burger everyday without breaking the bank. Really good burgers, fries, local fountain drink brand and the staff is so friendly. Clean dining area and did I mention the staff is great. Tried the Superman burger with the garlic fries and the creamsicle flavored soda. No complaints.
