Twisted Root Burger Co. in other cities:
I have eaten here almost every week since they have opened, I have yet to get anything that wasn’t awesome! Specifically this time Cassidy and Lacy gave exceptional service, but like the food I have yet to get anything but great service! I definitely plan to continue to regularly eat here!
This was my husband and I’s first time trying twisted root ever. We heard great things about it and decided to try it for ourselves. The food was really good and we really enjoyed the atmosphere! When it’s not 100 degrees outside, we will for sure sit outside and enjoy the patio! I’m really happy to see Athens get new restaurants and to change it up a bit! We will definitely come back!!
Took my 2 adult sons there for our dinner meal. The burgers and fries were plenty good. I guess I didnt order my old fashion right because there was no onions on the burger. My only disappointment you could not order a beer at the register where you order your food. You half to walk 3 feet to another register to buy a beer resulting in 2 separate charges to your credit card. I would have given 5 stars if it wasnt for the inconvenience of your drink order.
My husband and I decided to try you out for the first time last Saturday. When we came in there were 3 girls behind the counter talking to each other. With no acknowledgement or greeting as we entered they looked at us then keept talking to each other so we went and sat down waiting for someone to take our order , after about 8 min we realize you had to go to register and noticed the menu, I asked the thicker girl what was good that this was our first time there, she replied while looking down reading her phone , points to the menu behind her with out turning and told me to read the menu..I replied I see the menu I asked what was good . She again replied the menu is right there.. rudely again ..I started to walk out then but my husband wanted to try it and as were looking trying to decide shes tapping her fingers and pen on the counter as if we were imposing on her. So then I asked about the pickles and how that worked not knowing if you pay or just get some to try, she tells me theres cups over there..with still no explanation..no one explained anything and although when we finally got our food it was raw..we will never go back..
I have had a much better burger from local fast food for a lot less money. The tiny piece of lettuce didnt even cover half the patty. The tiny onion present was barely noticeable. The fried pickles could be fried longer and the grease drained off.We will not be returning customers.
Started off bad but the manager recovered it perfectly. I know Togo orders are harder. Ive been in the service industry! I luckily checked my burger before leaving and seen it was made wrong. The manager was very apologetic and fixed it quickly. Breath of fresh air in this town!
This was our first experience at Twisted Root. The young lady who took our order was patient, informative, and friendly. She answered all of our menu questions without making us feel rushed. The restaurant was busy as it was lunch time, so I expected a longish wait. That wasn’t the case our food arrived quickly and looked good. I don’t know if our experience was a one-off problem or if this is what other reviewers have referred to as “juicy”. I was disappointed by the greasy mess of both my burger and the fried pickles. The bun of my burger was very greasy, and there was a considerable amount of mayonnaise on my burger. (I like mayo, but it was on both the top and bottom bun.) I used several napkins to try to blot up the excess grease and mayo. I finally decided to eat the top bun only. The whole burger was a dripping mess. The fried pickles were equally disappointing. The breading was soggy with grease, and quite unappealing. My husband found his burger to be greasy as well. It wasn’t a good value for our dollar.
My husband really liked his Western burger. I got the hot chicken sandwich and the sandwich was WET. It was good, dont get me wrong. But I had to wash my hands twice while just eating it. My rings were sticky and coated. It was not pleasant. 😅I ordered a milkshake a couple minutes after putting our food orders in and my ticket sat on the ice cream machine for the entire duration of our meal. When we finished, my husband asked about the milkshake, and finally, a couple minutes later it arrived. However, it arrived with chocolate syrup dripping all over the cup and the table. Just a really annoying experience honestly. 2 burgers/sandwiches with 2 drinks and a milkshake was over $45. 😬
I really hate to be so negative and leave such a bad review but I did not have e a good experience here. We ordered loaded fries to go with our burgers and said we wanted them without jalepenos. I told the lady it was wrong when she gave them to me and she looked annoyed and sighed and she passed them back to the kitchen and told them she needed a new order of loaded fries. It wasnt even a full minute and someone else brought the fries back out to us already. I had a feeling they probably just picked the jalepenos off instead of making new ones bc theres no way they made new ones that fast and I was right. As we were eating them they were tasting spicy and then we found little pieces of jalepenos left stuck all inside the melted cheese. To make it worse then i found a hair mixed in with the cheese! So we put the fries to the side and were going to just deal with it after we finished our burgers. Then what do you know, about halfway through eating my burger I pulled a hair out of the meat! At this point we were extremely disgusted. So we got the managers attention and she came to our table and i explained the issue with the jalepenos on the fries first. Then I showed her the hair in the fries and the burger. She was very embarrassed and super apologetic. She refunded our meal. I dont think I will be dining here again due to the fact I was very grossed out.
Sweet tea was not sweat for your drinking glasses was what most places gives you with coffee, 1 cheese burger with bacon and fries and drink, 1 plane cheese burger and fries and drink. 30 dollars and change ! I want be going back! And not going to check the other place out either!
Im not sure if its protocol, but my Wagyu patty was cooked well-done and was dried out. It basically just crumbled under the fork. Yes, I used a fork because I ordered the Millionaire Burger which is an open-faced burger with fried onions strings, bacon, mushrooms, and a garlic aioli. The onions straws and aioli were overly salty(And I like salt). Also, the way the burger was stacked made it hard to eat. As I went to cut into it, all of the onions straws came off with the slide of my knife. I also order cheese fries, which were okay, I suppose. I asked for ranch dressing and never received it. The assortment of sodas is pretty cool and helped to get this rating to a 3/5.
The burger was good, the root beer float was not a root beer float. It was melted soft serve in the bottom of the glass that you had to put the root beer into the glass yourself. All it made was frothy bubbles. It was terrible. They seriously need to learn how to make a real root beer float. Definitely not worth $5.25. Go to Braums down the street for the float.
I’ve only been here once but that was enough. I spent an hour and $20 in this place. After a half hour of waiting for my food, I requested a refund. After another half hour of waiting, I left because the manager was MIA. I had been told the manager from the taco place would be coming over to handle my refund but they never showed either.
Food is great, but a little greasy. Noisy, but suspect this issue will improve as the weather becomes cooler and eating at an outside table is available. Plenty of options for condiments. Pickles available for free as an appetizer are very tasty. Overall, this is a good addition to the Athens restaurant selection.

2022-07-28My kind of place. Burgers with amazing toppings. The only issue is theres not enough room for all their business. Great atmosphere with good music. I remember Weezer, Nirvana, and that the drinks were smooth. 😁

2022-07-14We had a large group of friends try out the new venue here in Athens, absolutely delicious! Every single plate brought out was perfect and the alcoholic beverages were so good! Some even ordered the shakes after our meal but I was too stuffed to try them! We will definitely be regulars and we appreciate having a place with this type of atmosphere brought to Athens! Friendly smiling staff and a spotless building. The owner Quincy was the highlight of our evening • all smiles and makes sure you leave with a big one as well!

2022-08-09We both had the Buffalo burger medium. It was cooked to perfection at medium. Its nice when there is more burger than bun. Vickie is a big ol pickle nut and it was her first visit. She got excited at seeing the pickle bar. I just like the normal dill. She loved the rest of them. I had fried and she had the string onions. Those were nice and crispy. I missed the Twisted Root root beer I used to get at the one in Deep Ellum in Dallas. They had a different flavor every day. The place in Athens is clean, bright and lots of fun. I will return.

2022-09-12Delicious burgers and fresh cut fries with a yummy variety of sauces. They also have a selection of flavored pickles. The wait staff were friendly and personable. The portions were not huge so you wont feel stuffed after. Fun and quirky burger chain!

2022-08-14Had to wait forever for someone so take my drink order and watched 5 employees dance by me. Getting my food order doing was no problem. Most employees stood around it doing anything and had to go to 4 tables to find a bottle of ketchup that had any in it. Bus boy was fabulous. Constantly working. Young kid stood around and walk around dancing and didn’t do much to help at all. Fries were not done. Burger was ok.

2022-08-16This is the hidden gem in Athens. Opened about June 2022 - so keep that in mind for some of the odd reviews. Burgers, beers, booze, and the best fries around. We live on the east side of Tyler and happened to stop here on the way back from travel. Expect that we will travel an hour just to eat here. Excellent in every way. We enjoyed the wagyu and turkey burgers. Both were excellent. Almost missed this place because of the Yelp reviews.
