Fantastic Mexican food. Steak fajitas prepared to perfection without tortilla made from scratch. Get the melted garlic butter to dip everything in. The bacon covered shrimp are amazing as well. The jalapeno margarita is a spicy treat for the taste buds! Recommend getting reservations most nights because it gets busy!
I call 11:10am for dinner reservations . I told please put on My husband n my name on piñata desert. I told waitress show my screen please put both my name + happy anniversary. But came no name. And some how separated 2 check no recipe just showing price. So we paid 2 taxes , idk details for bills. Waitrrss say sorry we dnt have $10 bill so she bring $20 + $1bill. First time visit very disappointed experience. Churos and whipping cream soo good.
*Middle of the road*We came to celebrate a birthday and the best way to describe the experience is middle of the road... Nothing really special. The fajitas I ordered were bland and not a large portion. I didnt give it five stars because our service was actually pretty poor... The server was very kind in appearance but bumped our orders, requests and repeatedly missed items. The coolest thing though and the reason I was invited here was for a chocolate pinata dessert. It was an amazing presentation but like anything this visually cool... Its hard to make it all taste as good as it looks. Overall, if you are looking for all of the traditional tex mex favorites and a fun way to end the night... This could be your stop. Just, hope you dont have our server and dont set the bar high in the food.
Good food, lively atmosphere, beautiful restaurant. I would definitely recommend if youre looking for high energy & fun times. Wouldnt recommend if youre looking for a quiet or romantic dinner. It was a bit too loud for that. They have outdoor dining, but it was too hot to enjoy. Kid-friendly, as they brought a lot of the noise. Plenty of parking was available. Food was somewhat pricey, but isnt everything these days?! Overall, a great place to dine.
This is great quality food in a fun atmosphere. Although their menu is more Tex-Mex than traditional, everything is pretty tasty and well presented. The staff always seems a little rushed, but the wait isnt that bad. Their free chips and salsa is definitely above average. The location is easily seen from the highway, and parking is usually easy. Would go again.
I really enjoyed the food, it was delicious and I look forward to trying more menu items in the future. The downside was the time it took and the delays in service. In more than one occasion, I almost got up to ask someone for refills on my drink, as the server has not been around for 15-20 minutes. It was not very busy, they had plenty of open seating, and it looked like there were plenty of servers(as another one came to help us, too), but service was still very slow. Price for portion is fair, and quality was great for our food, which was a bacon wrapped shrimp fajita plate. Definitely recommend for the food.
We have been here a lot of times and food is always good as well as service. But today we got disappointed with the receptionist as she answered us rudely when we just asked how many minutes left to our waiting time since it was just us waiting in the reception area at 3pm. We asked nicely just literally how many minutes? and she replied have you been waiting for more than 9 minutes? I think she could have answered us in a nicer way. But kudos to Brittany our server as she was the friendliest, very attentive and saved our lunch experience.
My mother and I went to ear here today. The food was excellent, but I would like to shed light on our waiter Omar. What an incredible server with excellent costumer service skills. He was very attentive and made sure our lunch experience was wonderful. I can only imagine that Solomon ( the manager on hand ) provides an excellent work environment. We had a wonderful lunch experience and we will definitely be back. I appreciated. both Omar and Solomon today. I recommend Uncle Julios in Allen.
The food is good, but our curbside order was missing items on two different occasions. We let the first one go, but called the second time. After waiting to talk to a manager for 15 minutes, we were told we would be refunded for the missing items. I have waited two weeks, but there has been no refund. I hope they treat curbside customers better in the future.
My recent online order was terrible. They forgot the chicken tenders. We wasted 10 min waiting for it. The tenders were not fresh and dry like biscuit, what was worse, two tenders were actually contained no meat, just fried dough...I said we wasted 10 min because they ended up in trash can.
Waitress was very attentive and there was zero wait for 4 on a Sunday around noon.Food came out very fast. Guacamole wasn’t my favorite though. This was the fajitas for two we had chicken(very moist) and steak (tough and chewy)Tortillas were good. I give three start because I prefer a different restaurant for this kinda meal and pricing. I’ll revisit probably later but only if that other restaurant is too busy or closed.
Finally had the chance to visit again yesterday for lunch. Got there around noon. There were quite a few vacant tables. Simpler to rate this visit on a pros and cons. Pros: Chips were fresh, crunchy and tasty but quite greasy. We had the grilled shrimp & chicken fajita and barbacoa fajita, which we enjoyed very much. Cons: Hostess didn’t offer any smile nor greeting other than “how many?” nor say “thanks…” when we left. Tony our server was great except he didn’t come back to update us on our food as it took 25 minutes from the time he took our order till food was served. Food was served blazing hot though but as noted earlier there were quite a few vacant tables when we got there.
We visited this location yesterday and had the chicken and steak fajitas as well as some guacamole (not table side). The fajitas were really good but the guacamole had a carbonated taste which was not our favorite. The prices are not worth the portions of food you get and the quality of food and service. The service was poor and keep in mind we were at their location at noon on a Saturday, which surprisingly they weren’t very busy at this time. When we were leaving the restaurant, the hostess and 3 other employees were standing at the front chatting and not one person said bye or thank you when were exiting, which is normally common restaurant courtesy.Sadly I would not recommend this restaurant.
I love the colorful decor of Uncle Julios. So much to look at! Warm inviting fireplace on the patio and festive music make a pleasant environment to dine. My server was very friendly and attentive, the manager made a point to stop by, great customer service. The salsa has a nice roasted flavor. I got the Tex Mex Combo, it was delicious. Served with a chicken and beef enchilada and a crispy taco rice and beans. 🌮 Everything had a very good flavor, I really enjoyed it. Que the food coma. 💤
Had a reservation and seated on time.Hostess literally walked us through approximately 10 chips on the floor. Twoemployees stood next to the pile a few minutes later and neither cleaned the mess.Had to ask for clean silverware two times. Both replacement sets still dirty.Couldn’t tell you if the food was good. So disgusted with the filth I ate one shrimp of my $29 entree. Won’t be back!
Been coming here for years now and have never had an experience like the one we had today. To start, we walked in and the hostess was too busy to look up at us let alone offer a greeting because whatever was on her phone was more important than our visit. We then proceeded to our table where we were meeting some family members and they had asked for a high chair which never came. After waiting several more minutes, the waiter brought a dirty chair to where he said he would bring a rag. A few moments later he brought another chair and swapped us out and left. When we went to put our daughter in it we discovered it didn’t have a functioning belt on it! It is what it is and we requested a third chair at this point. Then we went to order our meals and my wife asked if she could substitute some vegetables instead of rice and beans to which the waiter replied absolutely. After collecting the rest of our orders he walks away only to return to inform her that it would be a $5 up charge for the requested substitution! For veggies…$5. It’s not the amount of money but the simple fact of up charging for a swap like that. When I asked the manager for an explanation on this (since we have never been charged for this swap) he simply replied that rice and beans are free with the meal and that it’s always been like that for the 5 years he has been there. NOT helpful at all. No attempt at all to help make an aggravated customer have a better experience. Lastly to top it off, two of our parties orders were brought out wrong. Do better Uncle Julio’s. Your restaurant used to be considered a more premium Mexican food restaurant.
There was a hair in my enchiladas! I discretely notified our waiter and told him I’m non problematic and only wanted to notify. He offered to remake the meal. I very politely said it was ok. The waiter apologized and walked away. I was then approached by the manager who also apologized and offered to remake the dish. Again I politely refused. The manager said he would remove the meal from the check. I thanked him and he walked away. I wasn’t going to write a review but to our surprise upon reviewing the check, the meal was still charged! As I mentioned we are non problematic people so we paid the bill in full. The cleanliness of the establishment is questionable. Wish the manager would have honored what he said. We will never eat here again.
I was not too happy with my experience at Uncle Julios. For starters the Salsa is warm and to me that is a big no no for a Mexican restaurant. Also the margaritas are way to sweet, basically like ordering a slurpee at 7-11. The food was so-so. It came out really fast after I ordered which makes me think it was on a heat lamp or something. The one positive is the staff was really nice and prompt.
3/16/22: Stopped by for a birthday dinner. Party of four, and two ladies were visiting for the first time. Glad we made a reservation, to reduce the wait time. Kelsi was our hostess and she was great! She was very attentive, apologized for the delay with our food, and was super pleasant throughout our dinner. She kept checking on us to make sure we were ok. The El Jefe Margaritas were pretty good and the beer was cold. The food looked good and was hot. The kitchen was slow, but it was worth the wait. Ample parking and we had a table on the patio, next to the fire pit.
The women’s bathrooms were filthy—which makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Also, it was very evident they were trying to turn tables as fast as possible. Our reservation was for 5:15 and they had us trying to leave by 5:45. We were not offered another margarita or anything. Going out to eat is a luxury and unfortunately we likely won’t be back to Uncle Julio’s. Food was delicious but everything was rushed and hurried and the bathrooms left me wondering about the true cleanliness of the restaurant establishment.
We went to eat dinner here and service was horrible. Never again. It took forever to get seated and to get drinks. After we got drinks they never came back to take our order. Just kept avoiding us for some reason. We were a party of 8. I can sympathize with shorthandedness, but, whenever this occurs its a pity. Kept helping people at other tables, I seen many people get take out faster than we got our drinks. We just paid our drinks and left, not even a discount for those. Places like this need to close up shop if you cant properly service your clientele. You could sense the frustration in the workers because of the shortage of help.
Been eating here since it opened. Fathers day I waited 45 min to be seated at a table by the bar area that smelled like someone mopped and cleaned the table with Urinal water. I went to the hostel and quietly told her that I could not sit there .. .. ok thank you bye was the response. Guess who will be calling the health dept now? You could have offered another table or to clean properly.....that was so nasty .
Cantina style salsa is excellent. Ive had the fajitas (chicken/steak/shrimp) and the carne asada. Both were delicious. A word of advice, dont go medium rare on your carne asada, it wants to be medium. Service is hectic but good. Tequila based drinks are spot on but nothing fancy. The paloma is refreshing. A good place to hit before an Allen Americans game across the parking lot.
Waiter was extremely rude not even asking us what we would like to drink. He wouldnt talk to us he would just stare. We was told that we could get the fajitas for 2 but when it came to the table it was just for 1. The manager came an told use the fajitas only came in a single portion. Manager didnt seem to care about the situation at all. The restaurant wasnt busy but we waited over 30 min for the check. Thus use to be one of my favorite places to eat its sad how far down hill its gone
Trash food. Let the manager know I will happily pay but I will speak with you and let you know the subpar quality of the food. Beware your avocado will come out fermented lol and they are aware. The meat from the fajita plate taste so bad I was waiting for hot sauce or pepper to cover the flavor. Will not return.
Both entries were open, a party of 4 adults and 1 child, came in and sat down at a table for 6, a waiter came over and told us that we were sitting at a wait list table.... totally wrong. The restaurant should of closed 1 of the doors to monitor the 1 door since the staff couldnt monitor both doors, unprofessional the manager came over told us that we should have checked in at the host stand! There was NO host stand near where we entered the building.
Went for dinner on Thursday night. There were 2 hostesses when we walked in. One on their phone with back towards us and the other didn’t greet us but just wanted to know how many. Not friendly at all. She apparently didn’t want to be there. She took us to a dirty table and when our server finally came we had to ask for our table to be cleaned. Food was okay and service slow. There are lots of good Mexican restaurants in town so I doubt we will be back anytime soon.
Just moved to TX from NYC and this was one of the first places we visited. Being huge foodies we value a great meal and exceptional service. Uncle Julio’s did not disappoint!Thankfully we made a reservation, it was a very busy Saturday night and there seemed to be a lot of people waiting so definitely book ahead if you don’t want to wait a while. The restaurant was very clean and the entire staff was wearing masks and following COVID restrictions. Our server was friendly and efficient. He made great recommendations and I wound up ordering the Guadalajara fajita. It was scrumptious! My husband and father both had aged skirt steak fajita and could not stop raving about it.Will definitely be back.
The chips were oily and the fajita meat tasted like processed chicken. The flour tortillas were small, think and doughy. The salsa was cold. The happy hour swirl margarita was watered down; we could barely taste any alcohol. We decided that this is our last visit and we will stick with Pappsittos.
We were here for dinner on March 17th.They were out of beer on-tap and several types of bottled beers. We had to settle for weaker beers. Very disappointing. They were also out of salmon. The food was ok. Not very flavorful and somewhat dry and the portion sizes were small. I felt like they gave us kids meals. The highlight of the evening was their queso. It was probably some of the best Ive ever had.
Took 10 minutes for a server once seated. Queso came out cold and no chips with our questions or guacamole. Fajita meat came out undercooked, and over vegetables we asked not to include, and didnt get our drinks until after our main dishes came out despite having to remind our waitress after bringing out the queso/guacamole we didnt have those. Which took 20 minutes. Fajita portion was a portion for 1 instead of portion for 2 like ordered. Told us she would bring extra meat but after 30 minutes of waiting we decided to give up, pay, and leave. Oh, and the manager came over bringing back the meat they had to take back and cook more and didnt give the time of day to hear our concerns, just cut off my dad talking, said he would take care of the appetizers, and couldnt walk away fast enough. Never saw the manager again. And we come to uncle julios as regulars. This was not just a one time experience. This location has really slacked lately in quality of food and service.
This is hands down the best Mexican food. Everything from the dips (queso, quacamole, salsa) to entrees and deserts are very tasty. The queso is smooth, not runny, rich in Chiles, but not spicy. The salsa is smokey. I have ordered many dishes from the menu, shrimp brochette, salmon, enchiladas, fajitas, and more and everything arrives hot, fresh, and the taste is unbelievable. The meats are cooked to perfection, leaving them juicy. While here you should try a margarita, and Id usually suggest the margarita of the month. Best service in town to top it off. Even though the prices are a bit high, you get great portions and high quality food.
We went for happy hour but didnt get service for 48 minutes... and happy hour was over. So much of the menu is gone. Ceviche was my only reason to go and its no longer available. The guacamole isnt good anymore. The habanero shrimp never came, but we got bacon wrapped shrimp in place of it. The bacon wasnt done so it was gross. Im disappointed for sure. Not goin back.
The waiter was excellent, the table-side guacamole delicious, and the company wonderful.Made reservations but after checking in with the hostess (who was probably just having a bad day), had to touch base with her again 20 minutes later, and our table was suddenly ready. Hostess was really unfriendly.Had chicken, beef, and Barbacoa fajitas.Chicken was okay, beef was very tough, and barbacoa was definitely Tex Mex. All the sides were tasty. We will not return.
Came to uncle Julio’s for lunch during down time. Service was ehh at best. We waited for a while for a server. Food was amazing. The most annoying part we’re the hostesses. We walked in and they just looked at us. Umm hello!??? They said “what’s up? Do you have a reservation?” Not sure that’s what you want your guests to experience when they first walk in.Again food was amazing 10/10 👍🏽
First time checking it out. Everyone was friendly, service was quick and the food was uniquely good. Salsa had a smokey taste, table side guac was great, drinks were just boozy enough, and the food itself was delicious. Our server, Laura was super friendly and attentive - would come back just for her service! Overall, won us over and we will be back.(Sorry, started eating before I remembered to tale pics!)
Extremely slow to bring food, drinks & to take our order. Food took a very long time to be brought out. No it was not that busy. Food was very salty & overall not very good. Not at all worth the price. Salsa was really warm & not in a spicy way. It was disgusting. Will not go back. This rating system needs a zero stars option….
If I could give this place a -10 I would. Ordered queso came out cold had to have it reheated. Ordered fajitas with no peppers so they just brought out meat they were only five pieces of meat no onions ask for onions they brought me chopped up onions instead of the onions that come on the cast iron they brought us some onions on another plate and there was chunks of other burnt items on the plate not sure what it was complain to the manager basically was told thanks for the feedback we will never step foot in that restaurant again this is the one in Allen Texas. The fajita meat was the toughest meat I have ever had.
Went there last week with clients oversea as they are wanting to experience tex-mex in DFW area, the food was actually pretty good but just the few small details that need to be address by the management. For example, the menus that were given to us were super dirty, it had salsa, rice and beans from the previous night or table, it was quite disgusting. During our meal, it was the lack of attention from the server, the server only stop by at the end of the meal to give us the self pay tablets, when we ask for a to go box and bags, the server made a comment on I guess you people dont eat much. I was quite embarrassed in front of our clients, so much for the southern hospitality.
Ate some pulled chicken quesadillas and chips with salsa ! Food was delicious and waitress Jasmine did a great job giving refills on drinks and salsa . Quesadillas can be shared by 2 people so its economical these days . Wait time given was correct 15 to 20 min. They also thanked us for the visit when leaving with smiles. See you again soon!
The Julio name seems to be a bit far from the authenticity of the food. The overpriced, hard to chew, and side-less fajitas is of incomparable quality to what is served for equivalent price Pappasitos for example. The same can be said for the margaritas. The three star is for service not for food or beverages.
Ordered water with lemon to drink and the fish tacos for my dinner. Lemon wasn’t given with my water. Decided ‘no big deal, waiter is really busy and don’t want to give problems’. Fish taco dinner came and looked at two puny dry tacos and asked the servers, “Where’s the sauce?” They said, “Maybe, at the bottom.” I lifted dry shredded cabbage ( not a vinegar slaw, FYI) and a couple of diced tomatoes ( not the pico di gaio) then fish and still no dressing. Told them there wasn’t any dressing. They said they would bring it. Dressing never came. Waiter running crazy busy. Sat through entire meal without eating it. Tasted the ‘cilantro rice’ and found it to be to be plain minute rice dried out with a little chopped cilantro thrown on top. Beans weren’t given with my meal even though it was stated part of meal on menu. Waiter did notice my plate was still full when he came back because he had brought a to-go box. I then told him I would plan to take meal home because I couldn’t eat it as it was and never received my dressing for the fish tacos. They were cold by that time. He offered to go get the Avocado creama sauce to send home with me. I told him I have Avocado cream sauce at home and since I’m having to take them home don’t need their sauce. I wasn’t planning to pay the full $14.50 for that meal, but, while I was in the restroom my brother paid for all of us. I can’t believe we gave this restaurant $14.50 for that meal.
We were seated right away but no one came to our table for ten minutes! Finally I got up and asked and it was still another 5 minutes! Once our waitress came over she implied she was going to help us as no one had but she was helping our entire section so I think she was the missing waitress the whole time! Food was okay(fajita veg was under cooked) sad visit to uncle Julio’s this time I’m afraid!
The warm salsa was a little weird but the rest of the food was great! I got the taco salad that was huge and delicious. The taco shell was crispy, the meat was seasoned wonderfully. It had way more flavor than most taco salads Ive had. Will definitely go back in the future!
We were seated in the midst of several dirty tables, they didn’t get cleaned the whole time we were there. We asked for a cup of queso and got served and subsequently charged for a bowl. I want to say it was the queso blanco... I was not a big fan, I consider myself a queso lover but it was very thick and hard to eat much of.We asked about a dish with agave queso on it, the waitress asked if we would like to try a small bit of it, I said sure. There was no talk of being charged for this sample. It came out on the ticket as $1.99The dish I got was not that great, I wanted to like it and it had lots of good sounding things on it, but it just wasn’t meshing together right. The cilantro rice was not cooked right, many of the grains of rice were hard almost crunchy. Also lacked any real flavor. At the end of the night, it felt like we got overcharged for food and atmosphere and it just wasn’t worth it. Probably wouldn’t go back.
Delicious and accommodating of my milk allergy. Allowed me to get Chile con carne instead of queso didnt even mention the beans usually have cheese, just didnt put cheese on mine. That is when I dined in. When I got Uber and put milk allergy in my special requests I got cheese on my beans and sour cream touching my chimichanga. Had to request a refund from Uber and go without dinner.
WARNING!!! Dont order food from this place ever!!! Eat at Chuys instead!!!I ordered through Grubhub and the driver said they gave him the wrong order. Theres no name on the bag. Its a plain brown paper bag. Totally wrong order. Im allergic to seafood and theres shrimp. Grubhub proceeded to tell me that I had to call the restaurant myself to see if they still had my actual order there. But what made this experience even worse is that when I called the restaurant, someone picked up the first time, and I heard someone in the background say, Just hang up. They hung up and I called back several times, just to have them allow the phone to just ring and ring.Called them again for the 20th time from a different phone and finally someone tells me I can come pick it up myself but theyre not going to make the order again after its been sitting there cold. Im never ordering food from here again and I suggest anyone who doesnt like poor service try Chuys instead. Their food is way better and so is their service!!!
I was at the Uncle Julios Allen location a few minutes ago. They gave us a table in a corner where there was a water leak and all of my dress got wet. When I reported it to the staff, they said the manager is aware about it. But they still gave us those seats .This is pure racesium. And I am very disappointed about it.
I went there on Thursday and I called ahead for a pick up order. This review is primarily on the staff and the manger on duty. I would give them 10 stars. There were a few things wrong with my order, however the manager and waitress were sympathetic and did everything possible to right the wrong. Because of there level of customer service, Im definitely going back. As far as the food, the chicken Cobb salad was so fresh and delicious.
I ordered a large guacamole, kids meal quesadilla with shrimp, tortilla soup with extra avocado, and chicken tamales. The shrimp on the kids quesadilla was very spicy so I had to send it back. Waitress said that was the only shrimp they had, told her it would have been nice to know when I ordered. The guacamole was very salty and watery. The tortilla soup was soggy and just one chunk of avocado. The tamales were the best part of the whole experience. I was a little disappointed.
Had very high hopes for this place since everytime weve passed it, it has smelled amazing. We were so disappointed! Waiter was awesome. Food was flavorless and my husbands skirt steak was almost raw, and he loves rare meat, but what they served was ridiculous he had to send it back. Strawberry Margarita was yummy. They ran out of cold Corona bottles. We were so happy thinking we had found a great Mexican restaurant to add to our list. Sadly for the food and price we wont be back.
Not as great as they used to be. I used to love going to Uncle Julios. Used to go several times a week for years. When they came to Allen, I was excited. I went many times, however, I have not been in a while as it became ridiculously crowded and for other reasons. I was so excited to go get my favorite chicken fajitas yesterday, but was not impressed. A few things have changed on how its served, it comes with chopped onions AND bell peppers now, which were mushy. I had ordered extra grilled onions, and got the same pepper mix. They used to be quite different. Used to come w/ much larger portions on the condiments, pictured here is double guac no pico, which is about what a single guac used to look like. I was also sad the roasted jalapeno was missing! and the beans and rice look a little different too. I can get basic fajitas elsewhere for much cheaper. No longer impressed. Cross this one off my list.
What does below average mean? Been going to UJs various locations for 20 years, probably well over 200 visits during that time, so I know the menu, and what its supposed to be like. Strike one is getting a booth with a direct view into the mens room - that seat should even exist, nobody wants that. But the real problem, sadly, the food. Our queso, which should be a nice yellow and smooth and chunky, was an orange foamy bland mess, it seemed like it was old queso they added milk to and nuked to get the spoon to stir in it again. Inedible. Strike three - fajitas are always best with a side of mexican butter. But you see that butter has to be melted. Instead, the butter in the photo got sent out. Both that butter and the queso should have never left the kitchen, if the kitchen really gave a care. Service was average at best, which means, not quite average. Will not be back to this location for a long time, well try another one, or just go to Chuys or any other Mexican restaurant, its not like there is a shortage in the area. Underwhelming for a restaurant that charges $18 for chicken fajitas...
My husband made reservations for a Friday night birthday/anniversary dinner. Although they lost the reservation, they sat us pretty quickly. Kinda busy, so the service wasnt quite top notch, about a 10 min wait for drinks and chips. Another 10 to get our food orders.Food came out fast! Drink refills were fast.Everything looked and tasted amazing. Definitely a save of a possible bad evening. We watched the 321 frozen margaritas being made at another table. It was a fun night. Combo fajitas, 1800 margarita, margarita of the day!
Had the chicken enchiladas, sadly taste so terrible. The chicken didnt have much flavor, the corn tortillas taste as if they were dunk in boiling water, and the chips were so greasy everytime we bit into them youd taste the grease more than the tortilla. Weve eaten there before and dont remember it tasting this terrible. Anyways, if you go the sopapillas are really good.
Wow! Anyone who could ever gives this place a “less than excellent” review…raises the bar too high. I eat a LOT of Tex-Mex and ALL over the place. No matter what areas of the business you score, this place meets the requirements of “Excellent”. Server, taste, presentation, ambiance, location….2 thumbs up!
Uncle Julios used to be one of my favorite Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurants. I was excited to eat there after moving back to the area; however, I was extremely disappointed. My server was polite and attentive when it came to first greeting us and getting our beverage order, but it went downhill from there. First, we received queso that was gritty and with an odd taste. We told our server, but she didnt seem interested. I decided to get the queso blanco on my enchiladas because the yellow queso was so disgusting. We received our food and it didnt seem authentic at all. The cheese inside of my cheese enchilada was obviously poor quality - oily, thick and stringy. My taco was sitting in grease, and my rice was overcooked. Our server hardly checked on us - we were going to order sopapillas, but got tired of waiting. My sister and I were beyond disappointed. The other reviews rave about this location, so maybe they were having an off day. We wouldve talked to a manager, but he didnt make it to our table like he did others (he did look very busy) and again, our server wasnt very attentive and we got tired of waiting. Im not sure I will return to this location...it was honestly that bad.
I was visiting my girlfriend in Texas for the very first time and she decided to take me to Uncle Julios since it was where she went with her family fairly often for Mexican food. Our server was a young man by the name of Buzz, and needless to say, his charm and charisma, not to mention his sense of humor, kept the evening enjoyable the entire way through. There was actually a mistake with my order, and without a moments hesitation, Buzz rectified the situation and offered top notch customer service rarely seen in todays day and age. The food was good, the service was better. If youre ever going to Uncle Julios in Allen, ask for Buzz. Hell take good care of you.
Food was good. Waitress was awesome! But managers seemed to have planned poorly and were very understaffed! We waited for right at an hour for a table. Then it took about 30+ mins to get 3 alcoholic drinks, just 3, and one was just a straight pour, from the bar to our table. Ordered queso & quac as appetizer and it came out at separate times, queso actually came out first and it cooled off VERY fast, like it had been sitting in the kitchen for a bit before being brought out. Some issues with temp of food and cooking of steak and kitchen side of food but manager took care of it. Our waitress, though, was incredible and worked her butt off! Overall, good experience, just prefer to visit when they are FAR less busy!!!
Made reservation for 8 people for 7:45pm.Showed up on time. Host is saying it will take few minutes. 45 minutes later we are still waiting!!!!! It uses to be our favorite restaurant till they stop honor reservation...we kept away for couple of years and apparently nothing had changed!!!
It was a quiet Monday evening. This place is in a great location on Stacy at 75. There’s plenty of parking. The restaurant wasn’t too busy. The staff is friendly and helpful. The bartender was super nice and helpful. I got the beef fajitas. They make really good fajitas. The meat is seasoned well and it’s usually a pretty tender cut. I got the corn tortillas and didn’t realize they don’t make them in house. Not an impressive tortilla. The meal was very good. Everything was seasoned well and cooked well. The only complaint I have is that the place is full of these little gnats. They were buzzing around my area the whole time. It’s surprising because I eat out a lot and this is the first time I encountered this.
Place is always good, food always taste great, but getting 4 of 5 stars since something is missing with their wait staff! 1 or 2 seemed to really get what waiting tables actually does for a restaurant and that starts with the trainer and management. Need to learn what brings repeat customers and recommendations. TOO many other options! My order was correct but my coworker ordered chicken and beef fajitas and just got beef. After waiting longer than expected for our waiter to come see if our order was correct(since NONE of the other waiters would lock eyeballs with us and was not even busy yet), he finally come by so we can tell him the error. So he did bring some chicken out and yes, total simple mistake and Im sure it happens quite often but when we rcvd the check, it was MUCH higher than expected for LUNCH! Tried not only charging for extra meat but for dinner cost of both fajitas orders when we ordered/had lunch! Called him over again and asked why, he apologized and said, I mustve hit the wrong button! REALLY!!! To be fair, this is NOT normal, but PLS teach your waiters to look around and see if people need help no matter if its your table or not! And check to see if the order is correct as soon as its placed on the table or asap! And have them check AND double check a bill before handing it to their table! Thanks!
The chips and salsa were superb. The chips were those thin incredibly tasty triangles. The Salsa had a delicious roasted tomato, smoky flavor. My chicken enchiladas were the best Ive had. The service could have been better. We had to wait a long time for our food, at least 45 minutes... and then our order was delivered incomplete. The wait started again and we ended up having to leave the restaurant with a to go bag because there wasnt time to eat. It took forever to get the check. We were there about 2 hours.
Oof. A truly sad occurrence.the single greasiest tortilla chip I have ever had.The good, umm nothing this visit. The ok. They have furniture.THE BAD; the hostess had to actually speak to us and acted as though she was doing us a favor. We asked to sit near the fire place. Almost got what we asked for. About 4 tables away, but ok then the very next table goes right next to fireplace. After about 5-7 minutes sitting watching other servers bus tables I went forward to ask if we were in a section that was closed. Eye roll from annoyed hostess, and dumbfounded look from shift manager. Server arrives, said we hadn’t been there more than 3 minutes. But she wasn’t sure. We get the standard chips and salsa delivery, and order drinks. Looking around the place is DISGUSTING, food all over the floor literal dirt on the floors. She finally comes back to ask if we are ready to order, we ask to tab out and she forgot to ring in our drinks and appetizer. We left, and manager guy asks if everything was ok.No dude. Not ok. But if you really knew why you were doing you would know that. And cue the canned response from the disconnected corporate employee. Probably won’t return to any of the locations, our experiences in Orlando and Arlington. Used to be wonderful and consistently good but your standards and service are consistently bad.
This place was super overpriced and the quality of the food doesnt reach that level. I dont think i can eat here again, the dessert i wanted to try was way up there which it was the chocolate pinata for like $30 dollars. Yeah its nice but not $30 dollar nice. The waiter wasnt very attentive either
Our server was Buzz. He went to infinity and beyond (see what I did there)! My dad wanted Nachos, but they dont have them on the menu anymore. However, Buzz made it happen! The enchiladas I had were delicious! The Sour Cream chicken wasnt on the menu, but it was an option. I definitely recommend asking for Buzz. Next time I go with my family I will definitely ask for Buzz as my server!!! 🙂😁😋
Chris our waiter was wonderful as well as those who helped him. Large family party get together almost all from out of state. My husband only drinks water and they kept him supplied. That never happens. Bravo. On the other hand my niece sitting beside me got the entire avocado peel rind whatever in her chicken rice bowl.I would have said something but did not wish to wreck the super happy family vibes.
Always so good and their curbside option is efficient and so nice! This experience there was an unexpected delay and I told the curbside server that I knew it wasnt his fault but the delay was ridiculous. He responded actually yes it is my fault I made a mistake. Let me tell you how much I respected that! Im not sure his name but what a fine young man you have for an employee! Great food!
Great food but the salsa could be better and great service! MAJID was our server and really made our night out an incredible experience. He was very attentive, down to earth and funny. I think it really makes a big difference when you have a server like that.I highly recommended the beef fajitas and make sure you sit in Majids section!!!
Horrible service, horrible attitudes form the management. The rest of the crew didn’t seem to know what they were doing (they were just milling around hoping no one would all them anything). Not even half of the restaurant was half seated and it took us over an hour to get our TO GO food from the time it was ordered. When I questioned the management why it was taking so long they simply stated that things were taking some time because of the extra business. What extra business? People were coming in and being seated directly with no wait. When I brought it up again I was told that “you door dashers need to get some patience” by the manager named Kevin I believe. 1) I’m not a door dasher, I’m your customer. Go get my order done!! 2) that was at 45 minutes after we ordered. You’re a manager, get back there and expedite your orders, get on the line and get things done. Don’t just stand there hanging blame off on an influx of business that was not there.Oh, I tried reaching out to corporate. They don’t answer their phone. They have a voicemail box that I dropped a message in and never heard back from them. This was my first and last experience with Uncle Julio’s.
Horrible service. I finally started counthow many other tables were coming finishing and leaving. Then 1 of our party was served and had eaten before the server even noticed then we still didnt get our food for an additional 30 minutes. 100 bucks for a meal that drove me nuts, ruining my weekly dinner with my son. Before it was easily 5 star for a normal guys eatery. Sorry guys
Food is usually good, not sure what happened. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for a table because they are still social distancing tables. Paid good money for made to order guacamole and received one basket of grease soaked (maybe water) chips. Ordered questions hoping to get some decent chips, same result. Enchiladas were okay, Cheese was hard, cold. For the price theyre charging, you expect to get what you pay for, this place doesnt live up to that.
We were so exited to try this place, so we ordered on door dash. It was pricey but usually the serving sizes make up for that. We ordered the fajitas for one and a pint of chips and salsa. The salsa was not great but they did send a large bag of chips which was nice. The fajita portion however was awful for the price. There was only three small bits of the steak and four small bits of chicken served with four tortillas. You could make two solid, three sparse fajitas. The rice was bland and the beans were inedible. Would not recommend. There are so many better places in the area.
Went back tonight and am changing my review! We had Juan as our server both times. He is fantastic! The alcoholic drinks are very good. The chicken enchiladas are absolutely delicious and I highly recommend them to anyone. The queso Blanco is very good, we also had the yellow queso last time and it was just as good. The salsa had more flavor this time compared to last time. We will be back! Thanks again for the amazing service Juan!
We put our name on the list and st 6:30 on Friday there was about a 20 minute wait. We walked over to the bar to get a drink and 2 seats opened up so we sat down. We were handed a menu so it was great to know we could skip the line and eat at the bar! We had the chicken fajita quasadillas and the made to order guacamole. It was very good and came out super quick. I ordered the El Hefe Margarita and my husband had one of the beers on tap. Overall a good experience.
Our daughters favorite restaurant. We called ahead tonight thankfully and showed up to a packed house. However we were sat right away. After 6 to 8 min, no service at all, I hailed a manager who promptly got Majid over and he took great care of us the rest of the night. What wouldve been a 2 star night turned in to thanks to Majid and management. That said, we wont be going back on a weekend night, its just too chaotic and busy. Well just opt for take out from now on.
We ate here Saturday, 8/28/2021and had an unpleasant experience. It took forever to get a waiter once we were seated. We ate chips and salsa with no drinks. Once we got the attention of a waiter we finally received our drinks. Our food was not what we ordered and it was cold. Our waiter told us he had issues with the kitchen staff and he was having a bad day. We have eaten here in the past with no issues.
Uncle Julios pre-pandemic was our go-to texmex in Allen. Not so much anymore. Two recent visits have disappointed. Poor food preparation, little or no seasoning, and poor service. Our most recent visit was during the lunch hour. The restaurant was 1/2 full yet the service was slow as was the food coming out of the kitchen. There are staffing issues not only for the wait staff but in the kitchen as well. May need to find another go-to for texmex. OH, don’t buy into the “made from scratch” advertisement. What we were served did not fit that description.
Firstly, I hadnt been to Uncle Julios in years. I had never been to this location which was absolutely gorgeous inside! We went for my besties birthday luncheon and between the ambience of the fireplace and the music, we had so much fun! They even provided a match so that we could light the candles on her birthday cake and plates and a knife for us. The food was delicious and our waitress was amazing, very attentive and super friendly. I definitely have plans to go back to sample more of there menu. ☺️
They seem really short-staffed here. This was our first time eating out since the pandemic. We wanted to sit on the patio, since were still a bit uncomfortable in crowds. After over an hour of waiting, they finally pulled a waiter to work on the patio, seated us, and took our drink orders. Two other families were seated, got menus, ate their food, and left before we even got menus. We actually had to ask another staff member when she passed by if we could order food. Our waiter said that he assumed that we just wanted drinks. Half of our group left without ordering food because of the lack of service and the long wait. Once we finally got our food, it was disappointing, there was hardly any meat for my fajitas. It was mostly onions, and I know onions are cheap. Another person in our party got a stale tortilla shell for her taco salad. We took it home as a treat for our birds. The prices at this place do not justify the food or the service. Youre in a busy area, hire and train some staff!
This is our Sunday food place. We love it. Food consistency (like sometimes the rice type is different, etc.) has been kind of off lately. I am assuming its a item avail thing. The salmon is soooo good. Tip. Order a side of tortillas and queso to dip them in. Can get pretty busy sometimes so we always try to go when its not. Ask to sit in waiter Pete’s area! Hands down the best waiter in the building. Always friendly, even when we hadn’t sat in his area for awhile, still remembered our order!
Have been to other locations and love the vibe soAfter a photo shoot this past Sunday afternoon, a few of us decided to go have some food and drinks! As soon as we walked in we could see they were very frazzled but the hostess said 25 min wait for the patio. We go to the bar to have a drink and patiently wait.About 35 min goes by with nothing and the hostess seems to have forgotten about us. Has no explanationExcept to say that her manager was in a bad mood.Ask to speak to the manager and even tho she is hesitantHe comes eventually and still offers no help to sit outside. He is completely unorganized, rude, frazzled,And absolutely in a bad mood as she had mentioned prior. We were over it, and decide to leave, and when we go outside I realize that she literally forgot us and several tables were on the patio.Absolutely disgusted by this disorganization and poorPoor service. Needless to say we went down the roadSpent a ton of money and had a great time!Seems like a rethinking on staffing is in order.
Me & my family went to Uncle Julios in Allen, TX last nite to celebrate my wifes birthday. Me & my wife ordered combo for 2 fijitas(beef & chicken) My grandson had beef & chicken fajitas. My daughter ordered quesadillas. All the beef fajitas were as tough as a boot & impossible to eat. Full of grissel & fat. I told the waiter & he seemed to take my complaint personal, which I dont get. He got a manager & he brought out more beef but still the same garbage. The tortillas were spongy & tasted weird. The guacamole was the worst I ever had. The salsa had no flavor & zero heat. The chicken was like processed chicken. We didnt bother to tell them it was wifes birthday because we figured the dessert would also be a disaster. The manager credited back a small amount from the bill. He should have credited full amount on fajitas. Never again will I set foot in Uncle Julios. The prices are too high & the food is lousy.
I’m not sure what happened but we ordered dinner at 430 today, to go, using the website. When we arrived the expo couldn’t find our order. We waited for 30 minutes, each time giving them our name and being told it’s not ready, until we were finally told “it’s not in the system.” What’s particularly frustrating is we told the expo our order and that we ordered using the website multiple times. They could have easily rectified it by just re-firing it. It might be a good teaching point for the to-go team that customer service is a crucial element of the job. Might also be good to check where orders end up with respect to the kitchen printer/POS if ordering is enabled on the website and then doesn’t end up “in the system.” Surely this isn’t the only time it has happened.Maybe another time I’ll get to try the food.
Diminished quality at the Allen location. This use to be one of my favorite places to get dinner at weekly. I started to notice a decline in the food quality, but at that time that didn’t stop us. Today was the final straw, as always we call in our order. The young lady who took the call, didn’t seem to be paying attention to what was being ordered. I had to keep repeating the order. Because of what I was experiencing, I ask her to read my order back to me. My gut feeling was correct, it was completely wrong. When I corrected the wrong order, she became annoyed, cutting me off, trying to hurry herself off the phone. When we arrived our order was still wrong, we had to wait longer for missing items that were not placed. We get home our food is ice cold, like it was pulled straight from the refrigerator. Not acceptable service for the amount of money you pay.
Waited a very long time to be seated only to never get any menus or qr codes to scan for a menu. The server was friendly and the food was pretty good but we sadly found out that they are no longer serving the chocolate pinata and that was the reason we chose to eat there. It was my daughters birthday and that was what she wanted. They dont sing or do anything for birthdays so it was a little disappointing
They forgot our appetizer, Food was ok we ordered fajitas for 2. Was disappointed on the portions size and presentation. I expect it to come out sizzling on the platter which they way it should be. Ours came out somewhat cold not enough vegetables and they were still Raw. Id stop somewhere else next time
The food was pretty good. This was my first time here. While the servers and food delivery were fast, they never took the time to explain their restaurant. My husband and I didnt know that we were supposed to scan a code to see a menu! We sat there waiting for the menus to come. The server comes by and asks if we were ready to order!! We had to tell her that this was our first time. THEN she brought menus! They need to do a better job of talking to the customer to find out if they understand if the customer has been there before or needs an explanation of how to order.
Arrived at 8:15, posted open until 9 but they were well in the way to closing up. Asked to sit on patio, where there were several other customers, they said no one was working that section, that a manager must have seated them, refused to sit us there. Tried to seat us next to the kitchen and bus station, we refused and asked for a booth. Was told that waiter was too busy, we might have to wait. We choose the wait. Most of the dining room was empty. Chips were cold and covered in congealed grease, asked for fresh, replacements were same. Rest of the meal was meh, they seemed annoyed we came in 45 minutes before they were to close. Sorry we went, wont be back.
Majid absolutely killing it w the service!! me n mom had lunch beautiful day out for lunch fish tacos were soooooo good. chips and salsa was so bomb. pretty sure they roast the jalapeños or the tomatoes for the salsa which def made it better imo. ty for our new spot in town!! 🥰
We have eaten here on several occasions and our experiences has typically been hit and miss depending on the night. Yesterday the wife and I went here for lunch and had a wonderful experience! Our waiter was extremely courteous and visited our tables frequently. The food was amazingly fresh and the portions were just right. I especially enjoyed The Swirl which is a frozen margarita and sangria mix. They do not currently offer a military discount. However, the manager gave us a very generous percentage off anyway. They have one of the best pay systems Ive ever seen. They bring little digital tablets to your table and you pay right there at the table. We had a truly great experience! Awesome place to dine.
One of the worst experiences ever at a restaurant. I had to go to the bar and order my own beer. We had to wait 1 full hour to have our ticket corrected. We had reservations at 6PM and we did not leave this place until 10 due to the lack of service. we could not even pay..had to wait...we will not be go5back to this place. If I could Raye this place with negative 🌟, I would
Food was cold. Sent it back twice and it still was not corrected. The cheese was hard on the enchiladas and the sour cream sauce on the chicken enchiladas tasted spoiled and too thick & cold. Manager gave me credit for 2 order, but their were 2 orders of kids taco meal that was Okay andb1 fajita bowl. But the 3 enchilada plates were awful and cold. I spent $106. I use to eat here all the time and I know it has changed a lot. I have gone to the Lemmon Ave location and its made just right and the plates are warm. Most places I go to eat mexican food, the plates are warm. But for some reason this time it didnt.
Our office ordered lunch online today from Uncle Julio’s. The chips and roasted salsa were really good. I had the classic taco salad with fajita chicken and vinaigrette dressing. The salad was huge, enough for 2 meals, and one of the best taco salads I ever had. Highly recommended.
Service was exceptional the first time I went but the second time I went service was horrible. They bought me the wrong food several times but the waiter kept apologizing which was okay. They took forever to bring my drink, they took forever to bring my food. Will think twice about going there again.
Sorry Tio, but it wasnt good. It was kind of just okay...if I wasnt judging harshly. On top of just soso flavor, our server forgot the cold plate for the fajitas, and wasnt very helpful with the menu for first time guests. Its because of these things, combined with higher than average pricing for Texmex, that I have had to give you only two stars.
I would never and ever go here again. I don’t know where was restaurant manager when we requested for manager after lot of dissatisfaction and disappointment. We requested for manager but they continue to send someone to address the issue with someone who is not a manager. Actually 4.2 rating clearly explain level of management or service this restaurant has. We had few guest with us and this place ruined our evening.Food was very expensive for so poor quality food. Veggie taco was made with only Onion ??? Charged $12 for a small margarita which is not even worth of $4 and so on ...I should have read all reviews before visiting here ..We learnt from mistake and will visit this place again.
Weve ordered Uncle Julios curbside a few times now and the service has been excellent. Host walk out to the car as soon as we arrive to get our name and check on our food. They are very polite and professional. The estimated time for our order to be ready is also spot on. There is hardly a wait once you arrive. We usually get the fajitas with all the sides. So good! Of course nothing completes Mexican food without fresh, real tortillas. Great job uncle julios!

2022-01-07Visiting again.. the restaurant is really good and the service is super fast. Must try the guacamole here its really fresh and tasty. The cheese enchiladas, fajitas, chips and salsa everything is really good. But they are pricey menu. Their desserts are great but didnt order that. As I was already full

2021-12-22What a wonderful dining experience! As always the tortillas were delicious and the beef fajita meat was tender. The food was excellent but the service was even better. Jose was prompt and pleasant. He made sure my drink was never empty and had a smile throughout our meal. Uncle Julio’s has a great reward program (check it out if you haven’t). Buzz the manager helped us with our ticket and he was super! Roberto came by to check on our table and had us laughing. The team here is great.

2022-04-29If this review was based solely on the food and “atmosphere” I would give it 4 stars; however, this location is SO busy… wait times are excessive even with a reservation (seated 20 min after our designated time). Also… random — but the kitchen door has an excruciatingly annoying squeak every time it is opened (which is constantly) that could be heard throughout the entire restaurant. Some WD40 might do it some good? 😬SERVICE: Our waitress started out being attentive and then didn’t show up for the last half of our visit. She did apologize which I appreciated but waiting around another 15+ min after finishing dinner for a to go box was tedious.Wouldn’t recommend visiting on a Friday evening due to how busy and most likely short-staffed they are.FOOD: The chips were tasty, salsa was a universal kind of yummy. The platinum swirl margs were good but the size was disappointingly small for the price.Fajitas were really good minus the three small choking-sized pieces of bone hidden in multiple strips of my chicken fajitas. In all, I’d give this place another shot but would plan for a weekday instead of weekend visit! And pleaseee fix the squeaky kitchen door.

2022-01-12Used to be a top favorite of mine…. Have been to this location over 30 times…. However the last two times service, food quality, and presentation has become hugely lacking… tonight (Tuesday night) service was super slow, even though not much was going on in the restaurant…took forever for drinks and queso to come out! Queso was already cold and hard when it hit the table… then fajitas also came out cold with zero sizzle to speak of (in fact meat looked dry as though they had sat under the heat lamp for a while)! Chocolate piniada came out great….otherwise not much else went right….oh and with all lacking items ticket still had 25% gratuity on it for 4 people!??? 🤷♂️

2022-07-17We liked UJ, while Allen location was closer to our home and we visited frequently, we preferred Keller Spring UJs fajitas beef which was perfectly cooked 100% of the time. Other than that, Allen UJ was just as good.Husband often ordered Margarita Swirl with his meal and wed always share a chicken or beef fajitas. We both loved the bacon wrapped shrimps. When on Keto diet, we would substitute tortilla with lettuce which UJ had no problems to help us with. Thank you for that!Service mostly good. Will recommend.

2021-11-30Definitely lives upto expectations! All food items were great and even the shredded chicken was very juicy and soft. They make flour tortillas from the scratch and that was so satisfying to see! 😋 there would be some wait time so it’s recommended to book in advance!

2022-03-15We used to dine other locations including Oak Lawn and Fort Worth. Been a few years since. I always loved the creativity and unique plates they offered that separated them from the many other Mexican restaurants. I looked for some of the dishes such as Cadillac Fajitas and the grilled meat feast that included carnitas, ribs, Fajitas. several meats. They are no longer on the menu. We asked for shrimp & chicken Fajitas for two or more, and they didnt have those either. To me they have lost their MOJO and are just another Mexican restaurant and nothing special. Sad because they were special in their time. Food was okay, salsa is bland and mild. Had to ask for the habanero. Guess its Chuys next time.

2022-07-11The BEST Mexican food I have had in Texas. This place is really busy so I would recommend getting a reservation. Ordered chicken fajitas and it was delicious. Cant wait to go back.

2022-03-04Docking a star due to the fact that everytime Ive eaten here our food has been messed up in some way. Last time, our fajitas were severely undercooked and raw. This time the chicken tortilla bowl had completely undercooked rice and hard tomatoes and gauc that looked like baby food on top. Staff was super nice but it seems like the chefs need to fix their food.

2021-09-25We went to Uncle Julios on a Friday around 7.45pm and there was a 30-40 minute wait for a party of 2. We decided to make a reservation online at the next available time, which was 8.15pm and we were seated at 8.15pm. The server immediately brought chips and salsa while we waited for our waiter. Our waiter, Righteous came to us with the cutest smile and got our orders. We waited about 15 minutes before getting our food and it tasted very good. We ordered the chicken and medium well steak fajitas for 2 and the serving was a good portion. I ordered the margaritas for the month and it was one of the best margaritas I have tasted! Overall, it was a good experience, great food and amazing waiter!
