United Supermarkets in other cities:
I actually believe this is the best United in Amarillo. It flows th correct way, easy to find what you want, and you can get in and out quick. Even the baggers are very knowledgeable of the store and are willing to help on the off chance you cannot find the product you are looking for. I have quit grocery shopping at Walmart because of this United. I am sure I am a minority in this category, but just moving here from a very small community where we had to drive 30 mins one way just to go grocery shopping, this united has stolen our hearts and made us feel very welcome.
Its probably a toss-up whether I go to this location most often or the one at 45th and Bell. I like the Henrys Cafe at the other location but this one is more convenient to go to when I run other errands on Soncy. They have a nice selection of fruits and vegetables and most other things although a much smaller selection of bulk items like nuts and cereals. Their Deli isnt as big but the food seems to be just as good as the other locations. Aside from fruits and vegetables I sometimes by Deli items to take home to make easy meals. I especially like their fried chicken and their beef brisket. The salad bar always seems fresh and well cared for. The employees are fine but I sometimes have the feeling they are just doing their job rather than enjoying what they are doing and enjoying helping people. When I lost my phone once they didnt seem very concerned about it and I had to press them a bit to get them to take my phone number in case it turned up.
At least you can get stuff at United you CANT get from wally world. EXAMPLE: Owens sausage. Wally world has Jimmy Dean sausage by the wheel barrel full and it sucks. But, getting Owens is a hit or miss proposition at best. Same with some flavors of coffee creamer, and soft drinks. If you ask mgt. at wally world they tell you the vendors control the supplies. Vendors tell you the store mgt. controls what is stocked. Somebody is a LIAR! My money is on wally world being the dishonest individuals!
Usually I have no problems at this store and enjoy the convenience of having it in the neighborhood. Today was pretty disappointing though. It’s great that United hires people with disabilities and it’s part of the reason I shop there but today...oh, man, today wasn’t cool at all.If the employee’s without disabilities are going to be rude to their coworkers with disabilities you’ve got a problem. Perhaps it would be in your customers, and employees, best interest to do a little diversity training.I don’t appreciate standing in the checkout line and hearing negative comments about people less fortunate than themselves made in FRONT of the disabled employee. The stores great but that sort of thing shows a lack of management involvement in their employees.
I am a 67 year old man, weighing less than 135 lbs. I live alone and do all of work around the home, so I try to bring home meals so that I don’t have to prepare all my meals. At the United on Soncy St. in Amarillo an older lady with white hair went out of her way to select the two smallest pieces of fish, even stretching for the smallest piece left, after selecting the smallest. My next meal was thin slices of brisket with huge pieces of fat on 2 pieces which were weighed after I remarked about the poor cuts. I then received the smallest amounts of potatoes and gravyI have received yet, at any of the stores I frequent. I feel if I wasn’t discriminated, I was given less than I should have been. I realize how ticky-tack my complaint is, but went in feeling great and came out feeling stiffed. I won’t go back to that store again, because none of the other stores treat you like you deserve less than anyone else who goes through the line.
Love this supermarket, the people who work there are go above and beyond for others.I met a delightful gentleman named Dennis, who works there and manages the wine & beer selection- he REALLY knows his stuff!!! I usually stick to one wine that I love but I took one of his recommendations, and I now have a new favorite wine! I can’t wait to go back for another suggestion! Dennis was so personable and the love that he has for his job truly shows, it made my day! Right now everything seems a little chaotic with the pandemic, but Dennis and his staff helped to slow down the chaos and spread positivity- I’m so thankful to have met such wonderful people.
Needed Italian seasoning. They only had one bottle, it to an assistant manager to find it and it was over$7.00. I asked the assistant manager if United had an app that would have helped me find it and he looked at me like I was from Mars. Im technically challenged but this guy didnt know what an app was. Give me my HEB!
It was a very clean store with a great selection. The aisles are wide enough that youre not bumping into people just to get around. The layout was well organized and easy to navigate. The staff were all friendly and the checkout was a breeze. They had plenty of lanes open to checkout quickly.
This store is amazing! Another United totally messed up my daughters cake less than 12 hours before her party. I went to this one and they made her the cake and it was amazing! Josh is a fantastic cake decorator and Dustin the manager is top notch! I will NEVER go back to the other United. They truly care about their customers.
What a fantastic experience at a United for a change in Amarillo! The cashier actually made chit-chat and was super friendly. The stores bring your own nut container selection was expansive. I do not mind driving from the Bell and SW 9th area at all for this location!
This is my first visit to a United supermarket. Im from Minnesota visiting for work. I was VERY IMPRESSED with the customer service. I asked 3 employees to help me find something and they were very friendly and helpful. As I left 4 different employees said thank you to me and smiled. A+ on customer service. I wish you had stores in Minnesota!
Although it was crazy busy because of thanksgiving this week, the staff was very polite and extremely helpful! As someone not from around here, I have to get used to having the people take your groceries to the car for you and help load them. Its immensely helpful, but so rare that it takes some getting used to. I do think they should allow those employees to accept tips, although I do understand the large amount of paperwork that adds.
United Supermarket on Soncy is always a clean and well-stocked store. They have a fair amount of organic and natural food products to choose from, they also have advertisements, showing they purchase their produce from locally sourced farmers. The employees have always been friendly and helpful
During this pandemic United Supermarket Amarillo has been a lifesaver offering curbside pickup with no hassle no problems everything goes smooth as it should be thank you for all you do and you guys are front-line workers you are very well appreciated thank you very much
Friendly supermarket with a great selection of products. They have people that take your groceries out which is really helpful when you have kiddos. Bakery in this particular location is amazing. When green chile hatch is in season they make a rotisserie chicken with it that is hands down the best supermarket chicken I have ever tried. From my overall experience the United Supermarket chain in the Amarillo area are the best in the business.
Great selection of produce and meat. Full time staff of butchers, bakers and sandwich-makers. Customer service is up front by the checkout lines with lots of service options (stamps, utility bill payment, ticket purchases for local events through Panhandle Tickets, cigarettes if you like, etc.). There are quite a few staffed checkout lines and the employees bagging your groceries will even help you unload your groceries. For that matter, you have the options of either having your checkout items ready for you to pickup without ever shopping $6, or being delivered to your home $12 through their app without having to stand in line at checkout.
Do NOT use the street side pick up for this store. Go to the one on Tascosa. We waited almost an hour with a crying baby to get our groceries. What started as “it will be a few extra minutes” turned into 45 minutes. You are better off going inside to get your groceries.I wanted to edit this to say United did reach out to us and we were able to communicate our frustrations and felt heard that our suggestions would be addressed. They also gave us a $15 credit on our next online order. I have adjusted our stars to reflect this response.
During Covid-19 the Unites Supermarket on Sony was not following social distancing. Most employees had their mask on half way, or not at all. There was no traffic control, nothing on the floors to indicated social distancing needed. Over all very disappointed in the lack of safety procedures.
Really great location. Also in the part of town where you arent making a big detour to visit whilst going NW/W/SE/E, through Amarillo. Prices are higher than Safeway markets, but amenities are top notch, exceeding Whole Foods easily. Free iced water (many WFM no longer have it!), generous seating area, both inside and out, microwave, wi-fi without a captive portal. Only thing missing is shaded parking.
Love this grocery store! BUT pharmacy is a different story. Pharmacist was so friendly and helpful but the tech was the opposite.I dropped my paper prescriptions and insurance in metal drawer in the drive thru line. It was so windy, one prescription blew away (Friday and dr office just closed with sick 5 month old)He never communicated with me and told me how to prevent my papers from blowing away he never apologized. He stood there and watched me struggle as I finally told him to close the drawer or my other stuff would blow away too. Never said one word to me. As I asked him if they took my insurance he was short and unhelpful as well. It took about 1.5 hours to get my meds and with a sick baby that Is a long time. I will NEVER use this pharmacy again unfortunately.

2022-03-2503/24/22 - Had to stop and get COVID covers (i.e., face masks). I have never been to this store before, but it happened to be along my route, so I went in. Unfamiliar with the layout, I asked the first checkout clerk for directions to the masks. Without hesitation, another store worker cheerfully volunteered to show me where the masks were. The young lady who tallied my purchases, Alexis, was friendly and enjoyable to talk with, as were her co-workers. The facility was clean, comfortably laid out, and seemed fairly well stocked.VERDICT: A REALLY GOOD PLACE TO SHOP. WELL RECOMMENDED.

2022-06-10I placed a pick-up order with special instructions for bouquet of flowers that i had bought to be given to my daughter (it was her birthday) from her little mini-me (her daughter). Lori (?) called to clarify those instructions and whoever brought the groceries to her car was perfect! I was on the phone with her and heard the exchange...thank you so much! I love this store.

2022-03-04I have my groceries delivered each time because I am on oxygen. It is so handy to have them brought inside my front door. United does a great job and I appreciate all the wonderful people working there. Great quality, decent prices and dependable! Thanks to all who work at United on Soncy and at Market Street on Georgia!!!

2022-01-22Their produce is very fresh and the deli and bakery have a good selection. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Recently Ive had to start using curbside pick-up. The app is very easy to use and my orders are avaiable early. When I pick-up the order is brought out quickly. Any replacement items are good.

2022-03-30Pros: clean store, wide selection considering shipping issues.Cons: we are new to this area. I am not sure if it is because we are not locals, or because we still wear masks in public, out of an abundance of caution, but this place was not friendly to us. We have visited this store twice and had the same experience with two different checkers. No eye contact, no greeting. The cashiers just took the cart and started swiping. Nobody asked us if we found everything okay. Nobody asked if we had a membership card. The cashiers did not offer to give store discounts via a generic membership card to entice us to sign up. We had to point blank ask if they have a membership card and how we were supposed to go about getting one. Answer from the cashier was curt... No thanks. Yall can keep your customer loyalty. We wont be back in person. We have lived all over the US, and have routinely shopped at Hy-Vee, Smiths, Publix, Wegmans, etc., and this store has the most pitiful customer service we have ever encountered. The selection might be there, but the service just isnt. I would rather pay extra $$ and have someone else shop in that store via Instacart than deal with the cold and lifeless employees at this store.

2022-04-11Went to buy dayquil today, lady said i had to be 21 to buy it. Which is just wrong, over the counter medication is sold at 18 in texas, they even felt the need to get the manager involved who also didn’t know what they were talking about. I know good help is hard to find but how are you not familiar with the legislation on over the counter medication.
