We spent our wedding night at Wakefield Farms last January and completely loved our stay in the Private School House. The room was very cozy and really had the charm of an old school house with a modern twist...complete with washer/dryer and a full kitchen. Aside from the cozy environment, the service was also great. The manager even went to get us breakfast and brought it straight to our door since we didnt have our car, and she was always very nice and helpful with all of our questions. We really want to go back in the summertime and stay again when we can actually walk around more and swim. It would be great for a small family reunion or something! For all the things you get staying there, it was also VERY cheap compared to many of the bed and breakfasts in the area. We will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone wanting a nice weekender in the country!
I have just had the most wonderful, relaxing, rejuvenating two day vacation in a long time. The cottage at Wakefield Farms was cozy, comfortable, clean, decorated adorably with many extra touches with guest comfort in mind. The housekeeper, Caroline, showed me the accommodations to allow me to choose my preference (I stayed mid-week so had the luxury of options). She was pleasant, knowledgeable about the area and really just a joy! The on-site massage provided by Christine was among the best Ive ever had and talk about convenient! She even took time after the massage to show me some stretches to help. The Innkeeper, Susan, was so accommodating, helpful and went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and happy. Did I mention yet about the breakfast fixins provided? Farm fresh eggs (trust me on the fresh, I met the parents), biscuits, OJ. I will most definitely be returning and HIGHLY recommend Wakefield Farms for a wonderful, quiet, comfortable getaway!
We did not have any issues finding Wakefield Farms, even utilizing Googlemaps without fail. The gate was opened so we drove straight in on the dirt and grass driveway and pulled up to the location. We called as we were not sure where to park, and Susan gave us finalized directions. There were 3 buildings surrounding a nice sized pool and hot tub. The largest building, painted red, was the schoolhouse. We entered the side door and were taken aback with the beauty of the décor inside. The beautiful rustic white on white furnishings accented by black hutches and cabinets was so relaxing and soothing. Everything was very clean! The kitchen was well equipped and we utilized the oven and microwave without issues. The living area was comfortable as was the king-sized bed. As we were in the in the country, bugs were to be expected and we only encountered one small problem. There were quite a few tiny spiders on the corner of the bed. We called Susan and she brought in some bug spray and attended around the whole of the bed. We later noticed the spray was for ants and roaches, so we werent sure how effective it would be on spiders. Throughout the weekend, we inspected the bed before laying in it thoroughly and only found a few more here and there on the bed and on the side chairs. Again, they were extremely small and only stood out because the linens and furniture were white. We didnt have any bite marks of any kind. We did use the pool on both Friday afternoon after our arrival and on Saturday mid-day. The only objection to the pool/hot tub was we felt it could have been vacuumed a bit better. We did not utilize the hot tub because of this reason. The pool was very refreshing and we enjoyed being lazy in the sun. There were flying insects all around, but again, youre in the country and its to be expected. Again, we did not receive one bite from anything. We loved relaxing and listening to the sounds of the crickets, cows and goats all around us. The TV worked and we took advantage of the rainy evening snuggled inside for movie night. We had plenty of hot water in the shower and the water pressure was fantastic! We definitely plan on returning for our next couples romantic get-a-way. The owners have done a beautiful job restoring the buildings and making them comfortable for visitors.
April 2013 - 19th Anniversary. We wanted and NEEDED to get away somewhere peaceful and quiet. The Saltbox house was perfect. For May in Texas the weather was unusually cool, so no pool for us, although it is beautiful. We settled for the wonderful jacuzzi tub in the spacious bathroom. The bed was comfy with sweet cotton dressings. The house is a wonderful size, plenty of space for 2 or 3 people. The greatest surprise was the kitchen in an closet Very cute, microwave, coffee maker, sink, dishes. All that you need. Breakfast in town at Chappell Hill Cafe was fine. Nice friendly people all around. The Maifest in Brenham was nice too. Good live music. Go visit the goats, and mini horses at Wakefield Farms. You wont regret it.M & T Rodriguez
Our visit was a 17th anniversary. The location within the rolling hills East of Brenham was beautiful. The blue bonnets were in full bloom. This location was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was not the normal cold rolls and coffee and juice. We got to get a real country breakfast at a country cafe a few miles away (on the house). The house secret of the grilled -- ( oh it is a secret worth finding out about). Country ham. and all the local country neighbors. Our host keep in touch and was their to fill any need. Check out the chicken house, the goats, the sheep and the 7 yes seven herding Great Pyrenees dogs. what a sight. do not forget to get a scoop of blue bell at the creamery. I trip worth slowing down for!
Our stay here was great ! It was so quiet & peaceful. We loved the fact that there was a pool....one of the main things that drew me to this place. I would definitely recommend staying here and we will hopefully stay here again in the future. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay/experience !!!
This was the perfect getaway for me and my man! We stayed in the Master Suite which had everything we needed. Especially enjoyed the jacuzzi tub, almost fell asleep! We brought our own food for the most part with exception of the Breakfast which we were given tokens to the Chappell Hill Cafe. The breakfast was great, coffee was wonderful! Get there early as possible though, it does get busy in there. We arrived around 9am or a little before and were able to get a seat. Beavers Kitchen there in town is open for lunch/dinner also and is really good! Really close to Brenham and Burton (blue bell creamary tours, and antique shopping if youre in to that!). Visited some really old cemetaries (IN THE DAYTIME haha) which was really interesting. There are a few museums to go to, historical markers, and just good country backroad driving! I really enjoyed my weekend vacation getaway and Ill be back for sure! Probably stay in the Parlor room this time. Susan youre awesome to work with, so thanks for your hospitality everything you do!
We went here on our babymoon and had a great, relaxing time. Wakefield Farms is situated far enough from 290 to make you feel like you are in the middle of the country, but close enough to reach destinations in town. Susans hospitality made us feel welcome and the optional massage is highly recommended.
We had a great time, my mom and sister there for the Marburger Falls festival. It was a little far to where we were going, but if you are there just to visit Brenham and stay around the farm it is so nice. The cats were so cute and tame and stayed right around the house we were at. Susan, the owner was so sweet.

2022-04-06We stayed at Wakefield Farms for a girls weekend and have nothing but good things to say! It was the perfect location for exploring Chappell Hill and relaxing! We stayed in the cottage and it was clean, comfy, SO well renovated/ decorated, with tons of little touches throughout the cabin to make the stay special. We enjoyed eating out on the patio, relaxing by the pool, wine and watching the sunset up on the hill, the mini horses, chickens & goats, and truly everything about our stay. If you book a stay at Wakefield Farms make sure you save time in your itinerary to just enjoy the farm & sunset! We ended up cancelling several things we had planned so we could stay and enjoy more time there! Already trying to plan a trip back!

2022-06-07Oh my goodness this place is awesome! Was looking for peaceful and cool place to stay for a few days to unwind and relax. The pool was delightful and the accommodations were MORE than expected! Add on the horses, donkeys, goats, chickens and the deer grazing in the meadow; it was a dream come true. I plan on coming back and making this my get-a-way from the hectic pace of life in the city. I was able to view all 3 of the cottages and they were amazing, I want to stay in each of them!!

2020-09-20I learned about Wakefield Farms from a friend who has raved about it for years. For my twin girls 25 birthday, I decided to spring for a weekend trip and Im so glad I did! Im not usually the country farmhouse type, but the unique personality of the property is a draw. During COVID, only the 4-person farmhouse is available, but youre the only group on site and have the pool/hot tub and whole property to yourself, with Susan and George close by if/when needed. As others have said, the house and decor are homey, but trendy - cozy-chic. Its minimalist enough that you can tell its kept clean and very well-maintained, but you still seem to have everything you need at your fingertips. Although we intended to go out in the evenings for dinner music, we ended up leaving for ~3 hours to check out downtown Brenham and eat a great meal, before heading back to catch the sunset and enjoy the hot tub. We didnt want to leave and will know next time. Some of our favorite memories - star-watching (saw the Milky Way); temporarily adopting/loving Blackie the cat; petting/feeding grass to the ponies (over the fence); the comfort of the farm house interior - that makes you put off scheduling anything because you really just want to stay. When we arrived, the refrigerator was stocked with multi-colored fresh eggs (from the henhouse), OJ, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, milk and yogurt. There were fresh flowers in the rooms, dried lavender on the bed pillows and king-size chocolate bars on a plate on the bed.Well be back, for sure!

2021-10-23I would highly recommend this place for anyone staying in or around Brenham/Chappell Hill. It is an easy trip from Houston and great for a friends or family getaway or a couples trip. The website and pictures online dont even do it justice. Its the perfect blend of country with modern amenities. There is reliable wifi, cable TV, a kitchen, and the grounds are beautiful. They have a nice pool and hot tub and there are wineries and dining options nearby. The owners are extremely gracious and accommodating. A+ accommodations and we will be back.

2021-07-13If you are looking to escape the city and be in the country this is the place. My wife loved the cottage design. We watched the sunset on the hill in the over sized adirondack chairs while having a drink and watching the deer in the field. Town is a short trip away full of antique shops. The cottage was very comfortable overall. we enjoyed the pool for most of the afternoon saturday soaking up sun and peace and quiet. We will def be back!

2021-07-13Small, quiet, “away from the world” retreat. Super. Super clean, super simple, super responsive staff to any questions or needs, super farm fresh eggs for breakfast. And the stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Wakefield!

2015-01-11Wakefield Farms is absolutely lovely. It is far enough from 290 to feel like the middle of nowhere, yet easy to get to. We stayed here for New Years Eve, and it was perfect. We stayed in both the Master Suite and the Parlor. We brought our own food and barely stepped outside for two days. The rooms are beautifully furnished, with an exceptionally comfy bed. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi tub, and the kitchen-in-a-wardrobe was charming. We would love to come back and see the other houses.

2011-06-16An absolutely great value! My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway, and we wanted to stay forever. It was our first B&B, and we enjoyed the elegant Parlor Suite, the farm atmosphere, the friendly animals, and the beautiful views of the countryside. Oh, and the pool was wonderful! You havent lived until you float in a pool, staring up a the the clear blue sky, with only the sounds of purple martins singing and crickets chirping in the background. We will be back!
