We were recently lucky enough to enjoy a weekend stay at the West 1077 Ranch. I cannot say enough about the ranch, and the Owners, Ralph and Iris. They are so incredibly nice and accommodating, and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and to make sure that we had everything we could possible need or want for our stay. There is nothing quite like the Texas Hill Country, and this ranch showcased the landscape beautifully. Our cabin was clean, cool, and thoughtfully, decorated. The common areas were well thought out and well maintained. Jessica, the chef, made wonderful and hearty meals every day for breakfast and lunch. There is plenty to do, but it is also easy to relax and there is no pressure to stay busy. Eileen, the excellent horsewoman whose business, Juniper Hill Stables, is also at the ranch was a delight, and the horseback rides were some of the highlights of the weekend. We absolutely cannot wait to go back at our first opportunity.
A former dude ranch, now a retreat, Ralph & Iris, along with Jessica (chef) & Eileen (horseback riding), have made West 1077 THE MOST wonderful getaway west of the Atlantic.Newly renovated, the cabins are clean and quiet; the lodge is spacious and perfect for family reunions or group retreats. I was there with a bunch of painters and the spot was just perfect for us. It would be great for nature lovers, hikers, honeymooners... anyone who wants a fabulous retreat. We rode horses through the state park next door, spun yarns around the campfire at night, and were free to paint the beautiful landscape without one thought about our care. Ralph and Iris made us breakfast and lunch, gave us a clean, safe place to sleep, and made everything we wanted possible. Ive never met more generous hosts~ I kind of fell in love with them, if you must know.I am planning to make West 1077 my home-away-from-home~ I invite and encourage you to come and visit!
We cant recommend this highly enough! We came to Texas for the warm weather but our week there was in fact unseasonably cold. Fortunately we received a very warm welcome from Iris and Ralph, our hosts. Nothing was too much trouble, and they made us feel at home immediately, including providing extra equipment for our 6-month-old daughter. The cabin was warm and comfortable, and kept very clean. The food was excellent with plenty of variety each day, and served to us by the friendly and charming Jessica. Meeting the other guests and chatting to our hosts over the meals was great fun. The ranch is quiet and surrounded by beautiful scenery, and the state park is right next door. The stables on site were a bonus and we enjoyed horseback riding with Eileen, who was accommodating of every experience level. Great memories and we hope to come back.
I had a great time at this ranch a few weekends ago! It was the perfect mix of relaxation and activity. Iris and Ralph were so wonderful and made us feel very welcome during our stay, Jessica cooked delicious meals, and Eileen took us on a beautiful horseback ride through the property and neighboring state natural area. Definitely a fun and relaxing weekend trip! I know we plan on going back again!
This place is just perfect, I totally agree with previous reviews. It was first time in Texas for me and my wife, and we couldnt have asked for a better experience! We spent a weekend in the ranch, Iris and Ralph the owners are perfect hosts, always helpful and friendly. We felt like at home really. The rooms are big, clean, comfortable and recently renovated. Better than the 3 stars hotel we stayed in San Antonio. Our favorite activities were horse riding, (Eileen is very nice and competent) and mountain biking. I think this is the only ranch offering bike rental, and the natural park nearby is just perfect for this activity. We enjoyed also the swimming pool, ping pong, billiard, amaca, the barbecue and campfire area.. and lot more.Or sometimes just sitting on the porch, and reading with a glass of wine and birds chirping in background.. so relaxing!!Food is great, they dont offer dinner, but it was not a problem for us, actually we liked this solution, because we had the opportunity to visit Bandera (10 min by car) and its fun to try local restaurants (and really cheap too).Well definitely come back.. and stay longer! Thank you!
We just spent the weekend at West 1077 Guest Ranch. If you are looking for the perfect Guest Ranch – look no further. Everything was impeccable! I don’t even know where to start.I was impressed immediately when we arrived and met the hosts. They take the time to show you around and explain what they are about. The Cabins are spacious, extremely clean, kept up to date with comfortable beds; and the linen at West 1077 was better than the Hyatt Regency we just spent 5 days at. In fact the whole resort is very well kept; thanks to the obvious hard work of the owners Iris and Ralph. The food is delicious. Simple – and delicious. They had one employee doing all the meals and she did a outstanding job.If you are looking to be programmed like a city slicker dude ranch – then this is not your place. Thank goodness! You are left alone to do with what you please. Relax, read, sit by the pool (which is very clean) or book a horseback ride on site by an amazing person, Eileen, owner of Juniper Hill Stables. (I will review separately). And you get to ride in the State Park, which only a few ranches are able to do; but you won’t find better horses or a guide than Eileen. This is hands down one of my best vacation experiences; thanks to the hospitality of West 1077!

2022-06-19We had a fantastic time at the ranch, the setting was beautifull. We were allowed to use all facilities on the ranch for our bbq. Sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs we enjoyed the sunset. Absolutely priceless moments with the family.

2021-06-20What a great find! It is rustic, but had everything we needed and more. We stayed there Friday-Sunday to get our daughters from Camp OTX-it was an amazing option for a our group of 4 families. There was tons of stuff for the kids to do, breakfast every morning in the lodge, a pool, grills, hammocks, etc. Plus, we capped off the weekend with on site horseback riding! The staff was beyond nice and helpful-amazing customer service throughout our stay. We will definitely recommend and stay there again.

2020-07-12This is the absolute greatest place to go and unwind. The countryside is beautiful and the people are the greatest you will ever meet! My girlfriend and I spent this past weekend there and it was the best! Eileen is the most wonderful host and Ms. Kitty cooks the best breakfast you will ever eat! If you need to unplug and unwind you HAVE to go here and stay the weekend, book a horse ride and when you are done hang at the lodge or pool. We will be coming back regularly!

2020-02-12The ranch is under new ownership with some inspiring ideas for blending a contemplative resource center with the guest ranch. I enjoyed both elements! I was captivated by the ranch - the kindness and availability of the staff - Eileen, Angela, Katy, and Dan - the homeyness of the lodge and accommodations, and the beauty and quiet of the land. A special highlight for me was riding the horses. Eileen is a confident skilled equestrian guide who clearly loves and cares for her stable guests and their unique personalities! Id like to offer a special tip of the hat to the resident young cowboy, Cash, who genuinely walks the walk! I cant wait to return!!

2019-04-07My grown daughter and I spent 3 nights at West 1077 Guest Ranch and enjoyed ourselves so much. Iris was helpful, organized and full of information. She treated us much like she would treat a personal guest. We took our horses with us and found the trails on the property and especially in the adjoining Natural Area to be lots of fun. I took some trails with my horse like Id never done before and we both had a blast. The facilities for our horses were perfect for our needs and we came and went as we liked. We had access to two stalls and attached runs, fresh water for the horses, space for our trailer, a grass arena, and of course all the trails. Super easy.Thank you Iris - we will be back!

2019-11-11Our stay at this ranch was superb. The welcome from Eileen and all the staff couldn’t have been better. Didn’t feel like a guest, but one of the extended family. Had read the reviews beforehand and thought they were a bit exaggerated but having experienced it first hand I can vouch for them. Everyone gelled together, had fun just being there. The ranch itself was sprawling and wild where it was possible to explore and feel part of nature. It was like an in disturbed past set in time with remnants of the olden days. Just an ideal retreat. Would love to go back again. Went horse riding. Hadn’t been on a horse in 50 years and such was Eileen’s leadership and the excellently trained horses, that it was impossible to feel like a beginner. Just felt born to the saddle and boy did I enjoy it. 100% recommended.

2015-05-19We found the ranch online while looking for a place which will allow us to explore Bandera and vicinity. The ranch is such a perfect spot that we ended up wanting to be on the grounds the entire time. We stayed in a cabin, which was just perfect - very (and I mean VERY) clean and cozy. The ranch is beautifully maintained, but in a very natural way. We hiked the trails, relaxed on the porch and in the hammock, and had fantastic horseback rides. The food is wonderful, and the dining room setting is such a perfect place to make new friends, tell and hear great stories. The owners, Iris and Ralph, are amazing hosts and wonderful people. Eileen’s love and knowledge of horses and skill made our horseback riding experience truly exceptional. This is the perfect place to relax, go for a run or hike, reconnect with self and nature. We will definitely be back.

2015-05-17We loved our stay at the West 1077 guest ranch!! We were there for a long weekend in late April, and the weather was wonderful. The ranch is absolutely beautiful, and the owners, Ralph and Iris were amazing hosts. They made sure that our stay was relaxing, and stress free, and they were so friendly and hospitable...they made us feel like members of the family. The meals that Jessica prepared every day were delicious and hearty, and we looked forward to seeing what she would prepare every morning and afternoon. Our cabin was very comfortable, and the decorations were perfect for the ranch atmosphere. We enjoyed watching the abundant wildlife, hiking, hanging out by the pool, and going on a couple of trail rides at the Juniper Hill Stables which are also located at the ranch. We will definitely be going back to stay longer as soon as we can get away.
